I never know where to put SNL related stuff so I am going to start a thread. It has been fairly poor for awhile now but I still record it every week in hopes it will get better. The past few weeks were actually really solid with The Rock and Michael Keaton. A few of the highlights.
Film hipsters rejoice, but I've never been able to make myself into a Keaton fan, despite my Batman fanboy status. I hated him as Batman. Always will. That said, The Rock's Coco and Bambi skits killed me. I am a sucker for that muscle bound idiot.
This has been a really strong season of SNL. Bryan Tucker and Rob Klein have done a great job as the Head Writers and I also think Weekend Update has benefited from Jost stepping down as a Head Writer and focusing solely on Update. He and Che finally developed some chemistry after a pretty bad first year together.
Had to get a new dvr from Directv last month and forgot to set SNL to record every week. Figures they wait until that happens to become enjoyable again.
Did the SNL Experience in NYC over the weekend. Cool look at what goes in to developing the show each week. Was blown away at how much work really goes in to the set and costume development on a weekly basis.
Kate McKinnon has been the most consistently solid cast member for awhile now IMO, from someone who doesn't find female comics too funny most of the time. I like her at least as much if not more then Fey or Poehler when they were on SNL.
"I had my shirt I came in with, but my pants were gone so my coot coot was out. I was full Porky Piggin' it in a drafty dome." The knocker stuff was hilarious too "Look, it wasn't my worst Wednesday night."
Even though he isn't one of the hosts, Bobby Moynihan is the best part of Weekend Update. Between Drunk Uncle, 2nd hand news guy Anthony Crispino, and Riblet he has the guest appearance game on lock.
This Ariana Grande episode is surprisingly good, very solid intro by her. She does great vocal impressions, and a very passable Jennifer Lawrence. The only whiff was that feminist song video.
I've never been a huge Grande fan, but damn did she crush her performances. That first song was just outstanding.
The jlaw impression and tidl sketch were great. And I fast forwarded thru the feminist song. Glad I didn't miss anything
Haha this Dinklage episode is absurd. Space Pants was surreal, and this glory hole sketch is so fucking absurd it's killing me.
It wasn't a great episode but it was kind of funny that Russell Crowe played some variety of pervert in almost every skit.
Last night was incredible. "Never gon be president now" moment in Lin's opening monologue was unbelievably perfect.
Kate McKinnon kills it almost every time whether it's Hillary, Kellyanne Conway, the trailer trash that got abducted by aliens, etc.
