Forgot to post the link but we're playing Minnesota right now. Up 1-0 thanks to a handball. Still same tactics, go wide li a shitty cross to the midget in the middle, no results. A minn defender truncated DeJong v Alonso on Dwyer and caused Espinoza to make a 40 yard run and nail him from behind. Most excitement in the whole match.
Anddddd Olum commits a pk in the 80th so its going to ET. I hope Minnesota puts in a dozen on these losers.
We actually dominate the first 15 of ET but nothing to show for it. Roger had the ball close to the six unmarked and instead of going for go he crosses it to no one. It's like these guys are scared shirtless they might actually score a goal. Rubio gets to jog around for the last 15 mins here. Great "DP" signing guys.
Rubio puts one in but it's called back because he was too lazy to jog back onside. About 2 mins later Benny puts him through and he finishes. Was a nice strike actually.
Starting with all 3 DPs. Cut em loose. Send Dwyer to OCFC. Buy 3 young conmebol DPs that are skilled and willing to put in good work rate. Tell Vermes if he doesn't bend from his 4-3-3 or he's out. Current contracts we need to ditch: DAVIS(355), Zusi(700), Besler(700), Sinovic(105), Ellis(72), Anor(132), Nagamura(225), Peterson(138). There's 2.5 million of dead weight. Roger and Dom are tough calls for me.
The overhaul needs to start with Vermes before any of the DP players. If we get rid of the 3 and keep PV, nothing will change
I think I agree with Ned Yocho on this one. Vermes staying = no real difference even with player changes. Zusi and Besler I'm good with on that player list but everyone else needs to go.
If they want to restructure then sure keep them. But wasting 2 DP spots and 1.4 million for their production is ridiculous.
Most frustrating part is this team can succeed. When we ran the 3-5-2 vs LAG or the 4-2-3-1 the third or so game of the year we looked great. Stupid ass Vermes has to run out the Dutch system every damn time though. Square peg round hole.
And he's the talent acquisition guy for the club too, so Vermes built the round holes, then went out and bought square pegs.
That to me is the most damning reason to get rid of Vermes or at least strip him of one roll or the other.
I kind of wonder what the team would look like over the next few years if Vermes were limited to his GM capacity only, and we got a new coach. It'll never happen, but could be tight if it did.
Vermes seems like he'd be hard to work with unless you're one of his guys. Rather have Vermes coach than make personnel decisions. At least if he's gonna run 4-3-3 someone can actually get players who fit 4-3-3 better. Last years team should have run 4-4-2 diamond. This years team needs to run 4-2-3-1 or 3 at the back (until Opara gets hurt). Kevin Ellis still needs to find a ditch and die.
Let Vermes keep his title of personnel director and promote Dos Santos to head coach of the senior squad. Hopefully that could build a solid enough checks and balances within the club. Like I've said, I love how Vermes can eye an overlooked talent but hate how he thinks he can hit on that 100% of the time so they're cool with shipping off the Nemeths, Kamaras and Uris.
Also if vermes was somehow limited to GM role, he'd act like Phil Jackson and get some Dutch manager so we continue to run the same type of system.
Probably. I've read good things about Dos Santos but haven't watched an SPR game beyond a highlight here or there so no clue what he runs.
Need to get a team hypnotist to trick Dwyer into thinking he's playing Montreal each match. Two really nice finishes tonight.
Not that anyone cares but we extended Rubios loan for the whole year so at least we'll have a "DP" riding the bench the rest of the year.
I guess the u-18s scored 5 goals in the final 24 mins of their game last night to advance from their group in the d-league finals.
We should still be able to score on the fucking Fire though. But yes, those two blown calls that resulted in a 2-goal swing so early really sucked the air out of that team, you could see it.
Lol. Besler hurt his knee in practice and is out. Not like he'd play even if he was healthy. What a great DP we have.
We're trying out Emmanuel Frimpong this week. I think he's more of a Def or b2b mid. No idea what happened to him, was a 19 year old with Arsenol then disappeared.
Some Greek newspaper said olympiacos upped their offer to $4.5 million and we accepted. Vermes said there's no truth to the report.
Sounds like we're going after this guy http://www.transfermarkt.com/sebastian-blanco/profil/spieler/54576 Obviously know nothing about him. He's been linked with Seattle and Toronto as well so who knows. Also, I never heard or saw anything about the Frimpong trial.
Rumors coming out we offered Allesandrini for Marseilles 3.4 million for 2 years and a player option for a third at 1.7 again. Doesn't really fit our bill. We went after Bradley and VDV for big deals but it sounds like we just matched his current Marsailles deal. Maybe the price he wanted was out of our league so management just threw something out there they knew would get rejected but can use the offer to let fans know they're trying to bring in better talent? Who knows.
Ellis has to have incriminating evidence on Vermes or Heinneman right? I mean, we would be better off playing a man down whenever Ike explodes a ligament rather than sub him in. Just bottles my mind.
Don't know what happened to Kempin but he looked shitty down in T&T and he's scoffed a couple tonight. Has pretty much eliminated us from champs league minus a big 2nd half comeback
