I would really prefer he join this window, but I guess I can settle for him being Alli 2.0.

 

New dembele will be solid, really don't expect him to be great. Might take time.

Alli was probably one of the best players outside of the Prem last season.

 

I was speaking more from the standpoint that their deals are looking to be virtually identical in price tag and circumstances. Alli should have been POTY in League One, he got MK promoted on the strength of his performances. Players all seem to improve under the Poch, so I'm excited to see how good this lad will turn out next season and beyond.

 

Trippier and Chadli looked good today. Carroll was probably our worst player when he was playing as a central midfielder, but looked much better after Dembele came on which pushed Carroll into the attacking three. All three subs came at good times and all looked good when they came on, but Dembele made the biggest difference. Carroll can't play as a central midfielder and it hurts the team when he plays in that position. Kane/Lamela/Eriksen were all disappointing. Missed too many opportunities and aside from Lamela's assist they didn't really do much. Wimmer was solid, Dier looked shaky at times.



I'm getting more and more worried about Bentaleb. He looked bad in the first half when he was paired with Carroll and forced to play a defensive role. He only looked slightly better after Dembele came on and allowed him to get forward a little more. I think he can be a pretty good box to box midfielder, but he needs to start showing some improvement. He's regressed this year.

 

You have to cut Bentaleb some slack. He was out injured for awhile and had the starting position before that. It is going to take him some time to get back in the flow. He did look bad though.

Chadli is such a weird player. Everyone wants to write him off an give someone else his spot, but the dude scores goals.

 

I'm not close to writing him off yet. Like I said I think he can be pretty good. However, his poor form goes back to before the injury. He was terrible before he got hurt. In four years Dembele will be 32 and Alli will probably be playing for Real so we'll need a midfielder and I think Bentaleb is more than capable of playing there for us, but he's taken a step back this year. It's like he still hasn't mentally recovered from that terrible game he had against United the first week of the season. He seems unsure of what he's supposed to be doing and plays tentatively.

Completely agree about Chadli. He's almost invisible for large swaths of the games and then he pops up with either an assist or a goal. I'm not ready to say he should be starting (he needs to be better defensively), but he plays his role well and is an important part of the squad.

 

I will say that playing Bentaleb as the more defensive half of our midfield puts him in a bad light. He looks uncomfortable when asked to fill that role. I hope he gets some extended playing time next to Dier or Dembele which will allow him to play without having to worry so much about defense.

 

Looking forward, we're at at 42 points right now with fifteen games left to play. 70ish points seems like the historical threshold for top 4, so if we can win eight and tie five, or win nine, we should be in good shape at 69 points.

Impressive job filling in for me last night VoodooChild5 . I don't think making Bentaleb the more attack minded midfielder of the two will do much to help at all though. He isn't an attack minded player. He doesn't pick a good pass or have any goal scoring ability (0 premier league goals ever). There is no way he should be the one to go forward instead of Mousa when they are paired together. Dembele can actually score goals, play a killer pass, and glide past defenders. Nabil made his name as a more defensive style midfielder who could win back the ball and get it forward to the players who know how to attack. I'm willing to give him a few more matches to get into a groove but he just seems lost out there right now.

 

Bentaleb has been a completely different player since signing his new deal, and not in a good way.

 

Looks like Pritchard will be going on loan to Burnley. It sucks that the injury cost him any shot at getting into the first team for us this season.

 

We drew Palace at home in round 5.

 

we don't have room anyway, so it is the right player to be loaned at this point.

Now Pritchard is rumored to be going to West Brom. I wouldn't loan that faggot Tony Pulis or their chairman anyone after this past summer. I doubt he will get a ton of time if he were to go there anyway.

This Pritchard stuff has me baffled unless a deal is in the works for Berahino. Given how crazed their owner was last year, it just seems weird that we can strike a deal and get beyond that. Pritchard helps them for sure and gives them another playmaker behind Rondon and Lambert.

I feel like Charlie Brown and the football, but I think we actually get Berahino this time. He has a mysterious training incident and is not on the West Brom grounds. We loan Pritch to a team we otherwise were unwilling to do business with. Newcastle gets no response from West Brom on their offer. Perhaps Levy and West Brom are announcing late so that West Brom can spend the money without driving prices up. This is the rumor coming out of West Brom.

I think the Berahino deal gets done late afternoon on the cheap... My only concern is if he comes in and disrupts the chemistry of the team. This team appears to be so close right now, its pretty awesome to see. Hope his role is clearly defined so he comes in and knows exactly what is expected of him.

 

Don't want him really, especially not for the numbers being spread about.

 

If spurs sign anyone i'd be shocked. Going to bed.

 

Yeah I don't see us signing anyone. Since the Dembele move fell apart the other day I've felt that way.
