Dan Kane @dankanenando The commission that accredits UNC has found it violated seven standards, including academic integrity, failure to monitor sports. Dan Kane @dankanenando The accreditation board has put UNC on a year's probation, the most serious sanction it has aside from pulling accreditation Dan Kane @dankanenando SACSCOC President Belle Wheelan said "It's the most serious sanction we have," but gave UNC's current admin credit for addressing scandal. Dan Kane @dankanenando Other standards UNC didn't meet: Operation of academic support services, the faculty's role in governance & handling of financial aid.
Nice write up on our yearly Summer optimism http://www.sbnation.com/college-foo...arolina-football-2015-preview-schedule-roster Picking North Carolina to do great things is like eating spicy food -- you can't help yourself, and you instantly regret it -- but sign me up for another 12 insanity wings.
god that is so perfect i swore i wouldnt do it again but i am starting to get my hopes up for this year
Haha this whole thing is playing out exactly as I'd been told it would. Love Dan Kane doing his best to dramatize the SACS saying, "well, we have to give you something, so how about a year of probation."
it really seems like they should have a punishment that falls between pulling accreditation and a year probation. seems pretty extreme
I've heard the rumors from a few people that we are considering self-imposing. I know Bubba has been vehemently against it in the past, but I noticed in a recent interview he seemed to be more open to it. IIRC, he said something like, 'we are not to that point yet'. UNC would view it as getting back some good press for the school as 'doing the right thing', and the NCAA could finally get this off it's plate. Win-win for everyone. With that said, the self-imposing sanctions would be nothing serious for football, or mens basketball.
some mods say no chance, some say chance, consensus is Duke hits the 2016 jackpot with those other 2 5 star kids + Giles
And Sacha Killeya-Jones gets an offer. Is this gonna be one of those Oprah offering nights? You get an offer. You get an offer. EVERYONE GETS AN OFFER!
Sacha won't be here until next season. So if Roy is telling Sacha things won't bother him even next season, then things must be going great. It also makes me wonder how much truth was in the rumor about UNC and the NCAA quietly agreeing to certain punishments already?
yeah that's what i meant. the case wont be settled in time for this year to even be hypothetically brought to the table so if 2016-2017 isn't on the table either, it pretty much guarantees no bans
these have gotten a lot better this year, nice seeing more of the obscure highlights pretty sure the camp's this weekend so I guess we'll be getting some commits soon
Ahhhhhhh shit Roswell Hornets all up in yo greeeeeeeeeeeyilllllllll redundantly 3 star LB Tyrone Hopper committed after camp today http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2609109/highlights/159564376/v2 hopefully he makes up for that Ebele Okakpu let down from a few years ago
i have it on high authority that tigers are better than hornets, therefore the blue and gold of Mt. Pleasant High is clearly the superior institution.
This one is fun Re: UNC Scandal: Kane: Findings Provide Clues Yesterday at 9:29 AM HouseOfWolves wrote: PicklePacker wrote: "Death Penalty". That needs to be the narrative pushed by PP and the media. We have several months to push it before the NCAA makes up it's mind. If the NCAA sees national story after national story saying UNC is worthy of the Death Penalty, there's no way they let them slide with a wrist slap. However, if we continue to let UNC dictate the narrative that Men's BBall is off the hook, expect the NCAA to go lightly. We've fought hard for this long, we can't slow down now. Death Penalty! Death Penalty! it's not that they don't deserve it -- it just makes me think we, nc state alumni, come off sounding like over zealous hacks. Other ACC schools need to join in on that call for justice. Over zealous? Who gives a rats *** what we look like? Dean Smith turned David Thompson in for playing a pick up basketball game in the 1970's. We had an undefeated 1973 college bball team with no postseason appearance. Then, after the Jimmy V scandal, Todd Turner (a UNC grad) is appointed by the UNC Board of Governors to come in and dismantle our athletic department and set "guidelines" for how nc state should operate. Overzealous? Eff U. If you don't want to be part of the charge, go run with the rest of the sheep. I say let's put the women and children to bed and go for blood. Screw those guys over there at Chapel Hell! Play time's over for the Holes, it's our turn to ruin their life as they've done ours. D-day's coming and you don't stop when at 85% complete just b/c the "spin machine" is throwing up hail Mary's over there with a Roy contract extension, etc. That was their last ploy I think, that's all they got left. Their cards are on the table. Sorry if I sound overzealous. DEATH PENALTY, DEATH PENALTY, DEATH PENALTY!!! ----------------
i was bored yesterday and ventured over to ic for the first time in years. the guys over there are like the exact opposite of what this dude describes in the first paragraph they think all these articles about how unc is going to get off is "just going to piss off the ncaa and force them to do something big" thought this was a really good summary of the situation http://www.sbnation.com/college-bas...arolina-basketball-academic-scandal-ncaa-2015
Clint Jackson @clintjackson1 16h16 hours ago Roy Williams has been proactively talking with recruits about his expectations of the NCAA outcome. And we are hearing he is very confident
at this point it sounds like the only possible sanction is vacating wins/titles but lol at that happening
Allegations that would lead to vacating of wins/titles was deemed unacceptable by Folt from the jump. She basically told the NCAA that they believe they had taken extraordinary steps to improve athletic oversight of an issue that was academic in nature, and that if the NCAA didn't acknowledge that and came after them with LOIC of the AD, they would be facing a massive lawsuit by the university, as well as a class action lawsuit from athletes. It was a serious "do not fuck with us on this" ultimatum from Carol Folt to the NCAA and Emmert caved almost immediately.
yeah i didnt mean that i think it is even on the table. just that we've essentially gotten confirmation from roy that nothing is happening as far as future eligibility so they only bullet they could even hypothetically still have is punishments from the past. they have absolutely ZERO standing or ability to vacate anything based off of the NOA
i agree completely. i'm not worried about losing titles. just manually checking off each sanction possibility as we get "official" confirmation
Posters at pack pride really think Roy's extension is going to piss off the NCAA and they are going to hammer UNC. They are planning a media campaign to pressure the NCAA into delivering the death penalty.
