Im excited. I started the series a couple weeks ago without high expectations but ended up being really entertained.
oof! forgot how much i hated the opening credits. netflix app on the roku needs a skip credits function
have 2 episodes left it's different than the previous 2; seems like they are spending more time on the other characters/the prison system itself than piper
just finished, some quick thoughts Spoiler -RIP Alex -liked the prison going private, was a good storyline, even if the social commentary was a bit strong -the panty storyline was stupid; though it did turn piper into a badass -the prisoners escaping and going into the lake was dumb -love caputo; one of my favorite characters
thought this season was really good i don't care for piper so her being in the background more was really good and she's the one i take least seriously
Can't see why people hated it. It seemed to get better IMHO. Agree that Caputo is a great character. Some spoilery shit: Spoiler I don't think Alex is dead, or will die. I hope she does just to make the show a bit darker.
First 6 or 7 episodes were a struggle to get through. On 10 now and have enjoyed the past couple episodes. Ruby Rose is a sexy ass dike.
Spoiler I agree that she won't die, I want her to though. So tired of the love storyline with Piper. I enjoyed the season though, least favorite part was the Norma storyline.
I just finished. Didn't really enjoy at all. There were no high tension stakes at this year. There were good parts, but as a whole - pretty meh. That tatted Aussie chick tho...
The horrible part of the season was the 15 year old black kid's overnight transformation into an asshole
Jenji Kohan running this series into the ground as expected. Did the exact same thing with Weeds i.e. less funny, making main character an unlikable slut, etc. I didn't even make it through Season 2
I just can't get over the fact that Jason Bigg's character was completely ignored this season. As was Laura Prepon's character last season. The continuity that the first season built has been totally ignored. I mean, what the fuck is this show about now??? If it was about the women/characters in prison, then fine, do that. If it was about Piper's relationships, then fine, do that. But don't do one and then completely change directions and do the other. And if you do, at least have decent actresses. These women are AWFUL. Not once during this season did I believe that any of them are actual prisoners...in a jail. The only decent storyline they had, they abandoned. The one between Daya and Bennett. Bennett's character was always such a stand up guy up until they decided to make him not and write him out. Why? Who knows. Terrible writing. Ughhh. I hate this show now.
The show is about Pieper's experiences. Jason Biggs and her parted ways, therefore she has no more experiences with him. Seems pretty straight forward. As far as Bennett goes, I'm not sure if they wrote it that way or if he left because he took the How To Get Away With Murder job and it conflicted.
This is completely logical. Netflix's shows have always taken a back seat to what their actor's more immediate options are. See: Arrested Development, Robin Wright's hair color change in the middle of House of Cards. Also Biggs' absence this season and Prepon's absence last season. Leads me to believe that if the actors can't take their roles seriously on Netflix, why should I?
Im not sure how you think that means they don't take their roles seriously. Most of the women on this show didn't have prior acting jobs, so I'd assume they all take it very seriously. Just because one person jumped shipped (and that's still speculation) doesn't mean it applies to the whole cast.
Poor choice of words on my part. But you can't argue against how a lot of Netflix shows seem to be cobbled together. Especially this season of OITNB.
I suppose, but then they also have Kevin Spacey for multiple seasons. So clearly they have some pull and merit in the actors community.
Finished S3 last night, so my thoughts: Spoiler - This show ranges from entertaining to wildly entertaining, and I thought this season went back and forth between the two. - The strength of this show has always been the development of so many characters. This season took special interest in building even more on that, which I'm completely fine with. - My favorite characters: Caputo, Boo, Cindy, and even started feeling sympathetic for Taystee, Red, and Healy. - Not sure what their plans are for Nicky, but they shipped her down to solitary in a big, sweeping scene and she was never heard from again. - The Sophia/Hispanic beef was kind of annoying. And so was Sophia's son. - Honestly liked all the stuff they did with the corporate angle/developing the guards. - Bringing in more prisoners is going to act as a whole new storyline for next season. - This felt like a transitional season into the aforementioned point. - There's only so much you can do with a prison-based drama. People get out and thus kill the show. They're vague about mentioning each character's sentence obviously, but I don't think any are there for life. So this thing probably as a couple more seasons in it. It wouldn't shock me if we get 5 seasons and Netflx calls it a day. I'm sure I'll remember more later.
