handwritten will be in contention for sure i think. i wouldnt expect anything less from a gaslight album if bloom is referring to the new beach house album idk, ill give it a shot but its not really my thing
Plenty of good Underground-Indie punk/alternative bands that play in small houses. Nice little scenes all over the place.
Holy fuck I've missed some good conversation. Assuming you've tried crazy arm, bad religion, hot water music, lagrecia, polar bear club & titus andronicus, I would suggest these five albums: Bayside: The Walking Wounded Rise Against: The Suffer & The Whitness Against Me: As the Eternal Cowboy Kylesa: Spiral Shadow There is a pretty diverse list of things you may like. Let me know what you like and what you don't.
Thanks for the suggestions. Downloaded The Flatliners- Cavalcade and I fucking love it. Taques thanks for that recommendation. Will try out some of this stuff as well. I've heard Rise Against before so I'll check them out some more.
albums im looking forward to in april: tim barry - 40 miler pelican - ataraxis/taraxis the forecast - everybody left torche - harmonicraft eve 6 - speak in code (DONT CARE 8) ) maybe moving mountains and i heard the new mxpx was pretty good however joyce manor will be the album everyone creams over and ill never understand it
Funny yall say that. I listened to the first 3 songs on the way to work when I first downloaded it and immediately texted my friend and said "This album is fucking awesome why is this band not huge?" They have such a different array of different types of rock they can blend together. On Liver whatever I swear I was listening to a punk version of Muse.
their other albums were "destroy to create" which was boring ska-core and "the great awake" which was still pretty good but kinda unfocused cavalcade was their first one that dropped all ska influences (outside of "he was a jazzman") and where they decided what they wanted to be as a band
I used to like it a lot, now I generally tolerate it unless something good comes out like the mighty mighty bosstones or the toasters
Apparently, The Flatliners are nothing special live so that is a knock on them. Destroy to Create was alright like Taxes said earlier. The Great awake showed flashes, but I couldn't find much identity in that album. Calvacade was one of the most surprising records of 2010 to me. Calvacade is one of the most complete albums I've listened to. I enjoy how they kept some ska influences, because He Was A Jazzman is a great song. I am very selective when it comes to ska (I don't like The Toasters and I can't stand MMBT). I missed the chance to see The Flatliners/Menzingers/Broadway Calls on a pre-fest tour in Atlanta. I had an tax exam the next morning so I couldn't go
Funny you say that. I watched videos of them live on youtube and I was pretty meh about them. Album is fantastic though.
Been discussed a bit in the indie thread, but I think it fits better here. Really good album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8FllkQw8fk
not punx, but i am enjoying this new torche album they classify themselves as stoner metal/stoner pop, whatever the fuck that means http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc4FeYfUjvA
FYI, full live set from a secret show that Refused played after their two sold out NYC shows. Looks like an amazing time, very jealous I didn't get to attend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYWNZlAmRg0
Just bought a ticket to see The Gaslight Anthem at the Roxy on May 18th. Completely random, went to a Gaslight message board for the first time in weeks yesterday, just in time to hear about the special pre-sale today at 10 for the show which was sold out by 10:20. Seems like a weird one-off show, no tour announcement or album announcement yet. First single off Handwritten supposedly coming soon...
I watched their live performance at Glastonbury on Palladia over the weekend. Pretty awesome stuff. Lead singer rocks it.

exister is good - ive spun it probably 3-4 times by now still have it behind sharks/the menzingers/no trigger/torche atm right there in my 2nd tier with rocky votolato, daytrader, the jealous sound, etc
new forecast leaked today - i like em unironically new hwm is a grower for sure. getting a bit better each spin i love the new daytrader a lot, the new tim barry is really disappointing. new terrible feelings is good too moving mountains and spraynard have some legit eps out atm we need to start a recruiting drive
lol'd at title. when I get home from work I'll get to d/l some of these albums and play them via phonograph.
I've made multiple threads about Austin Lucas and no one ever responds, and dude is filthy talented. Punk bros...I'm talking to you...out of desperation. Please, tell me I'm not crazy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9T3OUKXbnw
i know ive heard one of his albums before or like a split or something didnt he have a split with chuck ragan?
I didn't even know what genre to call it. I guess I'm a big fan of cowpunk/folk punk too; I've been a HUGE lucero/ben nichols fan since like 05 and I also like Joey Kneiser alot.
nice man my favorites: chuck ragan tim barry lucero/ben nichols drag the river/jon snodgrass arliss nancy (thanks bill) two cow garage bad astronaut/joey cape and some others but thats good for now
