The Virgin Islands are fucking awesome man. If you ever went I think your opinion would change greatly. My sister did a destination wedding a while back where we wound up going to St. John so I can tell you a little bit about both. St. Thomas is where you fly into and that's the big touristy island where there's all kinds of upscale stores, nightlife spots, restaurants, resorts etc and some more secluded spots. It's not going to be like the downtown of a major metropolis in terms of things to do but there is more than enough to keep people busy and entertained over a period of time. We stayed on St. John which is the more secluded and less busy of the two American islands, you basically have to take a ferry ride over from St. Thomas to get there. On St. John the majority of the stuff is mainly resorts, private homes, and beaches but there are still some nice stores right when you arrive and there are some really good local fare restaurants scattered across the island along with small grocery stores. We wound up renting a house on Coral Bay up on one of the hills which was pretty awesome , here are some of the views that the owners took pictures of The first one is the kitchen that hold doors you could open all the way and let the trade winds blow through, second picture is from the edge of the deck. If you rent a car it's only about 20 to 30 minutes to get to wherever you're going on the island or you can haggle with the local cab drivers. There are a few bars on the island but they're way more low key spots to just go hang out and shoot pool or something. They have a ton of different options for the beaches with more public ones and more private ones that you need 4wd to get to. All the snorkeling is awesome and there a ton of cool things to see and do and then not only can you hang out on whichever island you're on but also hop on a ferry back to St. Thomas, St. Croix and if you have your passport you can go over to the British Virgin Islands and check out all the stuff over there. There are tons of things to do and keep you occupied. I basically hope to be able to move there someday because the whole area no matter where you are is amazing. Cliffs: You are fucking nuts if you think it wouldn't be cool living over there no matter what your age is.
