Frasor is increasingly valuable to the Royals for as long as the rotation stays in flux and/or consistently fails to give 6 innings an outing.
while i agree that will change once ned figures out what to do with medlen, cant have 6 starters and with dick duffy coming back he is viable (as well is bazooka joe) to replace frasor
You're not gonna get rid of a proven vet and major bullpen asset in Frasor. If anything they send Finnegan down again and use Medlen in long relief and spot starts until his stuff is back
okay, so then what do you do with madson and morales? what im saying is why not offer one of the 4 guys up (including finnegan but i think he can be a future all star if he stopped eating)
because the bullpen is a strength and is mostly under team control for the foreseeable future. You keep Morales because he's a lefty specialist. you send finnegan down because he's kinda sorta maybe developing into a starter. I'm not sure of hochaever's options so maybe send him down so he can get his shit together.
Any time I find myself nitpicking this current Royals roster, I remind myself that I once bought an outfield ticket to watch Scott Elarton take on the Yankees.
I believe Finnigan and Ventura are the only two pitchers on the entire big league roster with options. Maybe Duffy. Let any one of the other pitchers go and somebody else is going to pick them up. That's how good our bullpen has been. We are just spoiled with it now.
If everything works out Vargas and Young battle for the #5 spot till youngs arm falls off. But that means Medlen is back to his form 2 yrs ago, Venture and Duffy back to their peaks, Volquez keeping his form up, all 4 of those happening are unlikely. Blanton won't keep his form up. Youngs arm will quit 3/4 the way through the year. And JGuts is JGuts.
Whoops, guess you mean with the 25 man roster. Finnigen will get sent down and Blanton will go to DL "shoulder tightness".
That's a nice problem to have. My feeling is that they will start Medlen in a long relief role and if he is throwing well they will ease him into the rotation somehow. Infante isn't going anywhere. He isn't going to be benched. We are stuck with that horrible contract and it is just unfortunate that 2B was a giant hole when he was a FA. He was coming off a career season and we were desperate for some production at 2B. Turns out, two years later we are getting Getz-like production for 8 mil/year.
Well, that was a nice little beatdown Houston laid on us. Gotta regroup and take at least 2 of the 4 game series against the Twins
Time for the AS break to get here. Seems like half our team is banged up. (And let's go get another rotation arm.)
Average attendance is 33k this year, and we have two more sellouts Friday and Saturday. I expected a bump this year, but a 10 to 15k bump per game is crazy.
I almost lost it when that happened. Right off the bat I stood up cheering figuring it was game over as long as Billy Butler wasn't standing on 3rd. Thank god we came back and won that one or else Dusty might have been on suicide watch. Moose placed on bereavement list and Cuthbert called up. Who knows how many games will get played in the next few days. They're saying we are gonna get ~6" of rain between now and Thursday.
Frasor hasn't been lights out at all this year and nobody has been lights out in Detroit's bullpen since 1977
Honestly, who knows. He has been all over the map this year. Injuries, composure issues, ejections.. feels like he hasn't made three consecutive starts without one of those things happening. I assume this is a fantasy related question?
If he isn't claimed I would be shocked. His track record alone makes him worthy of a roster spot (for someone else). His ERA looks fine, but his FIP and WHIP are just awful.
No you have to pay for the MLB app or whatever. I like to run in the evenings and I use some 20 year old transistor radio.
Slow day at work so I was looking at some stats of our players. Gordon's WAR this year is 2.6 so far... but his DWAR is only 0.2. His lowest in the past 5 years is 1.3 (on Def). What is the reasoning behind his DWAR being so low? I haven't seen anything out of his defense that looks any different from past years. Maybe he's not throwing out as many runners because nobody will run on him?
His arm was a huge part or his dwar in the past. Also I'd check what his range factor is this year, there's been a couple balls he's let fall this year that I think he would of got to in the past, not even a 1/2 step slower though, maybe like a 1/4 or an 1/8 of a step.
I'd rather trade for a guy who will be under team control for at least another season. like clay buchholz
