Giving up Manaea sucks but this is a great fit. We are officially all-in. It is also great insurance in case Gordon isn't able to return this season
Normally I'd laugh at such a statement, but the last 48 hours or so have given me pause to do so from now on.
As someone who watched their team go all in to disastrous results last year, my advice would be cry now, cheer later.
As a lifelong Royals fan who got to experience last October with my son, I'm "playing" with house money as a fan for the next 20 or so years. No hair, don't care, as you youngins say around here.
Loved the Cueto deal, this is yikes for me. Maybe they know something about Manaea's health, maybe they know they'll be able to sign Zonrist to an extension, maybe Gordos rehab isn't going as good as advertised. I dunno, just seems like and extreme overpayment.
McCullough said they thought Manaea was pretty raw for a college guy. Maybe Dayton is finally sick of seeing pitching prospects never make it up to KC.
Most our fans need to stop over rating pitching prospects, most don't work out, we have more. We still have Zimmer and Almonte.
For some reason this post made me reminisce about our Killer G's: Greinke, Gobble, George. Eh, 1 out of 3 ain't bad.
GMDM has said before that pitchers are the currency in Baseball. We got some good young talent and did good in the Draft and with International
James-Lemon Radler @jwgeist 13m13 minutes ago Royals minor league managers trying to set their rotation:
Ya, I still have high hopes that Zimmer can stay healthy. Everyone says he has something different from any other prospect. It's just scary cause when you heard Dayton or Monty or Eiland talk in the offseason they all said 1 out of the 3 needed to turn into a legit ace for us. Hopefully it's one of the two we still have.
Zimmer has been toying with minor league hitters in 2-3 inn relief appearances and will contribute when rosters expand IMO
Big dick Joe Blanton dfa'd for Cueto. He started a game and outdueled Felix Hernandez and for that we salute you.

Beautiful avatar, coffee Johnny Cueto @JohnnyCueto I'm here and ready to get to work. Thanks for the Royal reception.
I doubt it. Don't you think it's most likely Young gets pushed to the pen? Guthrie provides no value at all as a relief arm. Young does.
True, but how often do we really even use our long-man in a game we are trying to win? Very rarely. HDH, Madson, Hoch would all get the nod over Guts or Young out of the pen. Heck, even Medlen or Morales could. Young gives us the best chance to win, bar none. Let him be the #5 until he inevitably breaks down.
