I don't disagree with you. I just still don't trust Ned to do it, necessarily. He loves loves loves Guthrie. Of course, as I type this, I see it's 8-0 now, so maybe that's bad enough to force Ned's hand. And I don't see any way Guthrie goes to the pen. If he's the one losing his spot, I think he gets outright released.
Sounds like they're debating moving Zimmer to the naturals rotation to stretch him out more or to just keep with the 3 inning max routine he's on. I think I'd rather play it safe, keep him at 3 innings, bring him up in sept and add him to the Medlen, Young, Guthrie long relief/piecemeal starters role.
Yeah, seeing how fragile he has been I would keep him in the short relief role for this year so he is able to help us out in September and October. Come next season, stretch him out and let's see if he can stay healthy as a starter.
Quick pitch followed by the shimmy. Entertaining guy. Much easier to like now that he's in the AL. Especially since he's a Royal.
I think for now they can afford this conservative approach with the bullpen. That's the benefit of having an 8 game lead in the division. It would be cool if the offense wasn't totally punchless though
Yeah I'm not sure why I'm getting so worked up over a game in July. Should be on emotional cruise control until October.
Yep. I haven't used that term much at all this year but why he thought throwing a lefty against their murderer's row of righties is beyond me. If you want to throw Morales once you get through their 1-4 then I can live with that. Why didn't we use Wade or Holland? Injured? Fatigued? Too much poutine?
The back tightness makes sense why we didn't start Kelvin in the 7th, I was very confused why we were bringing out Madson 2 weeks after that lineup just shelled him.
Ah, now it makes sense. I'm surprised Ventura didn't plunk Edwin after 2 HR's, maybe he is growing up
Hey easy guys you got the win. Hell of a series so far. I agree Toronto is a team I don't want the Royals facing in October. Especially now that they have Price.
I really hope we do a few things towards the end of the season. - Rest Sal a lot. Like...at least once a week and ideally he plays very little the last week of the regular season. - This lineup gives us the best chance to win IMO: 1. Zobrist 2B 2. Gordon LF 3. Cain CF 4. Hosmer 1B 5. Morales DH 6. Moose 3B 7. Perez C 8. Escobar SS 9. Dyson RF I image we stick with Infante and Rios, but that would be a mistake. - Playoffs I'd like to go: 1. Cueto 2. Volquez 3. Duffy 4. Ventura - Lastly, having the best record in the AL is semi-important. The playoffs are a crapshoot, but the divisional winner plays the winner of the wildcard game. Ideally you face the winner's #2 guy (which could avoid Price, Kuechal, etc)
You try to steal signs, you get plunked. You crowd the plate, you get plunked. Love the attitude of the staff.
Let's be real here. Volquez definitely tried to hit him the first time. That second one that went up and in to Donaldson was an 85 mph changeup. Seeing how much Volquez dislikes Donaldson, I doubt he's going to plunk him with his changeup. I'm not sure if Madson tried to hit Tulo. Circumstances would say no but I really have no clue. He had Donaldson down in a 2-2 count and 2 runners on in a close game so I really don't think Madson tried to hit him when he came up and in. His fastball has a lot of run on it so it can easily get away from him. I also thought Esky handled his plunking pretty well. That being said, our guys need to keep their mouths shut. Yordano's tough guy act has run its course. He went from one of my favorite players to one of my least favorite. He's a head case.
I don't disagree with you. I think the first Donladson Hit was Intentional and Escobar was intentional. The other 3 were not. I posted in the MLB thread that my issue was giving the warning. If they don't give a warning and Dickey comes out and hits a guy the next inning, everything would be over. But they give the warning and then dont follow up on it. Thats where I think it was bullshit.
I agree. I really don't like when they issue warnings so early in the game because then it takes away the inside part of the plate for the pitchers. One slip-up and you're tossed. They should wait and see if a retaliation happens and then issue the warnings. What happens if Dickey's knuckle just floats away (which can easily happen) and hits someone on accident in the 2nd or 3rd inning? He's tossed and the course of the game is completely altered.
