One of my former students just started an internship with Last Week Tonight. Cool to see her on the credits.
Class starts tomorrow for me. 6th year teaching so feeling pretty confident. Wanted to ask my compatriots, what kind of bag are you guys rocking these days? I still use the classic Eastpak bookbag but thinking it may be time to upgrade to something a little more distinguished
Jesus I did that about ten years ago. never again. Thought I was being the good guy and giving the odd kids a place to meet. Worst decision I could have made. Two hours of torture while they watched the most fucked up movies and acted out the scenes.
i got called into the principals office in high school because someone found and vandalized the anime club's online forum by posting all sorts of tentacle hentai. they thought it was me but they couldn't prove it. (it was me) audrew make them watch kaiji
Yay! Someone repeatedly doodled the Leviathan Cross (the symbol of the Church of Satan) on to-be-turned-in class work.
Solid, I would like Mr. Audrew as a teacher. One time in high school we were taking a standardized test and they said you could write on the booklet, so me and my buddy assumed they'd be thrown away. We doodled all kinds of funny shit on the cover where they show the one perfect classroom with the white kid, the black kid, the Asian kid, etc. We had them smoking crack and whipping out dicks and all kinds of shit. Couple weeks later we get called to the principal's office and they said the state board of ed or whoever was pretty pissed when they got the books. We were like uh sorry we didn't know anyone would see that. We got suspended I think
My elementary school principal case to home a release every year asking for permission to use corporal punishment if he saw fit. My parents signed that shit in front of me every year.
We started this 2 years ago. Except they got MacBook Airs. This years freshmen won't get one because of not enough funding
ya know truthfully I am a little amazed at ur ability to play on here and teach also . my daughter has teachers confrences all week at discovery in Waterford . it just strikes me a little funny your not swamped the first week . ??????????. p.s. Waterford is orange . yes ? do u have a , a rateing ?
Showing a clip from the Jazz Singer... Me: "Al Jolson looks a little too much like Dracula to me." Kid: "Who is Dracula?" WTF!!?!???
So week 4 into the new school year and they are going to move everyone's classroom around. Closing off part of the 2nd floor and making it the 9th grade hall. They also want me to move over to the next classroom which has the broken smart board, that's not going to happen. This year has been just one giant clusterfuck.
Handed out iPads Wednesday, got halfway through set up. Went well Thursday morning servers were down, no biggie I had a back up plan. Friday morning servers down again!. Last year iPads were completely unrestricted and so basically we handed middle schoolers a video game console and battled that all year This year kids are given a "managed Apple id ". This is supposed to restrict the app store, safari etc. They can only get apps pushed out through the district. Hooray IT department. It took a kid 15 minutes after set up to figure out that they can fucking sign out of the managed id in settings and sign in with any Apple id, personal or the one they were given last year and it's game on again. Oh and our brand new head of tech was on fucking vacation this week!. Which is great because he claimed it was planned a long time ago but the dude was a high school teacher last year and didn't get hired for the new job until May. No teacher in the district is ballsy enough to take the first week of school off. My principle was on fire, she's this little tiny Latina, it was pretty great. IPads are still not completely set up, the Wi-Fi in rooms is completely unreliable because of construction over summer. Friday, principle suspended deployment indefinitely.
Oh and because I'm not a complete dumbass my classes handled all the set up for my seventh grade team.
Hmmm. I am the third most senior 9th grade teacher...going on my 6th year at my school (not overall). We have three 9th grade teams. I am also in charge of planning freshmen orientation for my team with a 2nd year teacher because she is the 2nd most experienced teacher on my team. Going to be a great year.
I'm the 2nd most experienced at 3 years. Big problem this year is that they've shrunk the 9th grade teams from 3 to 2. No surprise that there's been major issue with this years 9th grade
Each team is suppose to teach only a certain amount of kids. Let's say you have 300 kids and 3 teams. Each team gets 100 kids that they teach exclusively for their 4 core subjects. However, you will have kids that are part of both teams because of how their schedule works out. It's suppose to make it easier to identify kids who are having problems because they are only suppose to go the teachers that are part of your team.
