Mel would be an easier route to go, but the original Azor Ahai had to use his wife to create Lightbringer. I don't think Melisandre means enough to Jon to be equivalent to killing his wife.
Can't argue with that. Perhaps, she will become more important to him now having resurrected him. Sansa is also on her way to Castle Black... I think there will be some interesting interactions between Melisandre and Jon in the coming episodes- one of the more intriguing things to look forward to this season.
People are going to lose their shit if Jon buries Lightbringer in Sansa's chest. In any event, I just hope that Jon's return is nothing short of spectacular. Like a real flamboyant fire boy with a flaming sword and sexual appetite to match.
You would think Theon would be the one to take out Ramsey but I think that's doubtful if he's heading back to the kingsmoot. What purpose will Theon serve at Pyke? Didnt I hear Victarion wasn't cast? I figured Asha would take over his role but maybe they throw Theon in there as a complete 180 for the character.
After Jon takes back winterfell he appoints Sansa to rule the north as he prepares westeros for the walkers. LF hires a faceless man to take Sansa out. Arya comes and buries needle in sansas chest. Nymeria helps capture Arya before she can escape. Jon then has to take Aryas head. Boom, lightbringer.
Has to go through the heart to bring Lightbringer right? I think it will be Ollie, Jon has too much affection for him.
Anybody else bothered by the kennel scene? There were like three different points they could have cut the scene and gotten the same effect.
I wasnt bothered but I certainly could've gone without the hearing the flesh tearing & the screaming.
I was in the kitchen and I actually turned away because I didn't know at what point they were going to cut away. Hearing the baby cooing as he's opening all of the cages was pretty tough to take, and I don't even have kids.
Team Ramsay is a monster that needs to be appreciated for how much of a monster he is. No need to cut away, seeing his grin just ensures that you know he feels no remorse.
The whole scene with the baby was hard to watch. All I could think of was my little 2 year old sleeping upstairs, and I wanted to fucking choke Ramsay (which I understand is the desired effect).
Except that we've already established Ramsey is a monster with everything he did to Theon, and the Sansa rape scene, and the scene with the dogs last week, and every other thing we know about Ramsey. The only thing we know about Ramsey is that he's a monster. It'd be like if, had he survived, GoT taking entire scenes in Season 4 to say "Gee whiz, this Ned Stark sure is an honorable guy!" Except now they're trying to finish the entire series in 18-23 more hours.
If you watch the show and didn't already hate him to 100% of your capable levels, you a) haven't been paying attention, or b) are twisted and will never hate him.
Lightbringer was forged thousands of years before the Valyrians began making Valyrian steel. John already has a functional Lightbringer as we saw in Hardhome. He doesn't need to kill any loved ones to make a sword that can fight the white walkers. It amazes me that ASOIAF readers continue to take the prophecies so literally considering that GRRM uses every possible opportunity to undermine them.
Lol if that was 10 year old olly in there all of you motherfuckers would have been rooting for the dogs
Which either way is irrelevant. a) You weren't paying attention, you see that and now you want him dead something serious and keep watching to see how it might happen b) You're twisted and can't wait to see what he does next and continue to tune in
Also, RE: Lightbringer In the original legend, Azor Ahai kills his wife with the sword to temper the hot blade. In the PWWP prophecy, it is said that Azor Ahai will return and draw Lightbringer from a flame, doesn't say anything about killing anyone to get it. I've always had a pet theory that the flame spoken of will be dragonfire.
Well yea...but there's a pretty obvious different between a cunt like Olly and some newborn infant that has done nothing but shit himself and suck on titties for the entire 2 hours he's been alive.
Mel said something last night about this. Something like "if you want what's best for him just leave him be". Could have just been her lack of confidence though
Commentary on the world being dark and full of terrors, IMO Haha, way to respond and make yourself look like an extraordinary cunt. I read the books once probably 4 years ago. A lot of people disagree with your smug interpretation.
If that Ramsey scene bothered you then you're watching the wrong show. It was a really great episode and alleviated quite a bit of concerns I had after watching the first episode.
He's got a point though, smugness aside. Every prophecy that's come true has come true in some unexpected and twisted way that is far from the literal interpretation. There's some pretty good reading online that analyzes this and it's pretty consistently the same deal with prophecies
Agree completely. It's also no coincidence that the best episode in a while had zero involvement of Dorne (and Danerys frankly). The dragon turning its head and neck for Tyrion to unchain him was a phenomenal moment. It emphasized his point about dragons being incredibly intelligent creatures AND established an immediate trust/bond between the little one and his new friends. Only thing I didn't like was Jaime backing down from the sparrow. He's obviously been reduced by the severing of his hand, but it's not like the elite Knights in Westeros to display fear as he did. I think of the Tower of Joy, or [paraphrasing] "Even now I would cut through all of you like carving a cake" didn't expect him to destroy that whole assembly of weirdos, but the gulp and backing down was a little less than I expect from him.
I want Dawn to be lightbringer so badly. It's my favorite (not most likely true) theory. I hope that's something that is unique to the books. Seeing how dawn hasn't been seen on the show and likely won't get much official burn in the flashback.
It's not a prophesy, though, it's a legend about Azor Ahai that people feel may need to be repeated in some manner in order for the sword to be restored.
