Was really hoping Mebane would finish out his career with the Seahawks. Rubin was the bigger priority, though

Bummed to see Irvin go to the Raiders. Really hope Okung comes back, though. I'm pretty confident that other needs can be addressed in the draft by taking somebody 97 rounds early and having him pan out.

Weird considering how much he openly talked about wanting to move on. Either he overvalued himself or was trying to get some exra money from the Hawks

That contract could get spicy. I'm glad we didn't overpay but this is a tricky situation. We better go heavy on OL now.

Looks like there's nothing in FA, so it's either trade or draft.

Seattle Seahawks strike deal with DE Chris Clemons

The Seahawks on Friday agreed to terms with the veteran defensive end who started 59 games for the club from 2010 to 2013. Clemons spent the last two years in Jacksonville, where he notched 11 sacks over 23 starts forJaguars coach and former Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

Clemons originally landed in Seattle back in 2010 as part of a trade with the Eagles. He piled up 11-plus sacks for three straight seasons before finishing with 4.5 takedowns during Seattle'sSuper Bowl-winning campaign in 2013.

At 34, Clemons looms more as a situational pass rusher for a nasty line that also includes Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril and run-stopper Ahtyba Rubin. We wouldn't be surprised to see Seattle look for additional help in this month's draft.

And Maxwell looked like ass for the Eagles last year but was great with the Seahawks. Doubt he sticks around, but damnit, let me have my LOB nostalgia

Browner is not the solution. He's a fine situational guy, I guess, but we need to draft someone that we can groom.

The Seahawks made 10 selections total in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Round 1, Pick 26 (31): Germain Ifedi, OL Texas A&M
Round 2, Pick 18 (49): Jarran Reed, DL Alabama
Round 3, Pick 27 (90): C.J. Prosise, RB Notre Dame
Round 3, Pick 31 (94): Nick Vannett, TE Ohio State
Round 3, Pick 35 (97) (Comp pick): Rees Odhiambo, OL Boise State
Round 5, Pick 8 (147) (From Patriots): Quinton Jefferson, DL Maryland
Round 5, Pick 34 (171) (Comp pick): Alex Collins, RB Arkansas
Round 6, Pick 40 (215) (Comp pick): Joey Hunt, C TCU
Round 7, Pick 4 (243) (From Patriots): Kenny Lawler, WR Cal
Round 7, Pick 26 (247): Zac Brooks, RB Clemson

3 RBs seems excessive, but whatevs. I like the first three picks.

Just my own thoughts but the Seahawks will use prosise as something other than a RB

Nah I think he fills the third down back role. His film is too good to not be a RB, and too high a pick for a crazy position change.

The last couple picks are more like forced UFA signings, so it makes sense to get a RB they like that wouldn't sign after 2 were drafted. Will be interesting watching how many make the roster though, should be a fun competition to watch.

    :chatzy:

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly made John Schneider one of the highest paid general managers in the NFL on Sunday with a five-year contract extension but the loyal 12's might already have another reason to celebrate the extension.

According to SB Nation's Evan Hill, the rumored Green Bay clause did not carry over into Schneider's latest deal. The move signals a two-way street of loyalty between Schneider and the franchise.

In the past, he had been reported to have a clause in his deal that would allow him to head home to Green Bay if the Packers offered him their general manager job. Schneider-- a Wisconsin native -- started his career in Green Bay as a scout from 1993-1996 and later spent an additional eight years with the Packers from 2002-2009 as a personnel analyst and eventually director of football operations.

The clause was of particular importance with current Packers general manager Ted Thompson announcing he'd step away from football soon. It was believed that Schneider could be on the short list to be Thompson's heir apparent.

Without the clause, the Seahawks can feel safe paying Schneider such a hefty sum, which also bodes well for keeping his partner-in-crime, head coach Pete Carroll, in for another half decade.

Rawls is off of the PUP list today! Also sounds like CMike might be the only other RB with a spot locked up (ignoring high draft pick armor), when a lot of people were betting against him.

Rooting for Pope to make the team. Don't care which RB, outside of Rawls, has to be cut to make that a reality.

Ricardo Lockette's dad shares an incredible story about Marshawn Lynch

Marshawn Lynch made his graceful exit from the NFL this offseason, hanging up his cleats (quite literally) after nine years. He’ll forever be known for eating Skittles, his Bill Belichickian press conferences and most importantly, bulldozing defenders as Beast Mode.

All of those things were made abundantly apparent during his playing days, but there was a side of Lynch that we didn’t all see. He had a serious, kind-hearted side that wasn’t always in the public eye.

That part of Lynch’s personality came through during one of the scariest moments of last season – one that threatened former Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette’s life.

Lockette suffered a serious neck injury against the Cowboys last season that nearly killed him. The former Seahawks receiver said he thought he was going to die on the field as he was taken to the hospital, never to see a football field again.

Lynch was there for Lockette during a frightening time, and it went mostly unnoticed by everyone outside of the organization and family.

Via Jayson Jenks of the Seattle Times:

“We were in there with Ricardo and everything was in a sad mode,” said Earl Lockette Sr., Ricardo’s dad. “A nurse comes up and says, ‘We don’t know much about football, Mr. Lockette, but there’s a guy outside who says he needs to be in here. He says he plays with Ricardo, and his name is Marshawn Lynch.’ I go to the lobby, and Marshawn has his bags. He said, ‘I knew it was more than what they told me when I saw him go down. I knew it was more severe than that and I could not leave him here.’

“What Ricardo didn’t know is that Marshawn peeked in the room and saw he was in there, in the bed, strapped down, couldn’t move, and he cried like a baby. Marshawn did. I won’t tell you everything he did, but he took a couple steps back and soaked those tears up, and he went in there and made my son feel like he could run and jump.”

Lynch cheered up Lockette and his family by cracking jokes and being the character that he is. But he was also incredibly helpful to Lockette’s loved ones. Lynch made sure they never had to worry about transportation or anything besides Ricardo, who wasn’t sure what the future held for him.

“He said” ‘I’ve got you guys. You don’t have to worry about anything.’ When I say he meant that, he really did," Ricardo's dad said. "He took care of us for a period of time to make sure we didn’t have to worry about getting places, transportation, anything. He did that.”

Lynch may not be with the Seahawks or in the NFL any longer, but he left a huge mark on everyone he came across.

I'm hoping we didn't look like world beaters because their front seven is so weak, but that's probably the case. Eagles terrify me and the Rams might get the best of us again. Idk. That win felt fantastic, though. Short week on the east coast against the perceived best? Fuck yeah.
