hey guys i watched the show this past week and absolutely loved it so i have decided to give the books a go. I haven't read a book since harry potter... Anyway I was just wondering how much of the books was in the first season of the show? Was it just the first book? Did it follow the books really well or stray away?

edit: i was afraid to post/look in any of the other threads to avoid spoilers.

    Thanks

It followed really quite well, however, it still can't fit all of the details from the book. And GRRM is a very detail oriented guy, so very few things, if any, that he puts in the book aren't important in some way or at some point. But ya, overall the show followed the book quite well. They threw in a few small things that were part of book 2, but nothing particularly major.

It folllows the book pretty well but there are some changes that rankle bookfags like myself. Read the books, as good as the show is, they are so much better.

i just started the books during the series and I stayed the heck out of any threads until i finished each book, the books are amazing, i don't think i had read an entire series of books either since HP and i could not put these books down, each night i read 20 chapters or so on my ipad and stayed up all night two nights as i got to the end of books 2 and 3....after you finish, check back in on these book threads because these guys here will blow your mind with things you completely missed and theories on what is coming next

Thanks guys i really like the way the book is written through the perspective of a different character at the beginning of each chapter. I already have some favorites but i'm sure they will change some. I will definitely come back in here and read some of these threads when i'm done.
