Yeah. The whole turncoat wildling spin is a lot more interesting. I just got bored with him last book when he was just dicking around in the woods seemingly the whole time :cantwait:
lol at dany getting fingerblasted by her handmaid. i don't even wanna know the crazy shit that goes on in Martin's bedroom.
Spoiler shit just got real. I was starting to like Catelyn chapters cause Robb was in them so much. Kinda saw it coming but didn't think Frey would have him killed.
yeah i had a good feeling something was up once catelyn made such a big deal about them offering food to guests and they were hesitant.
so i'm almost done. Did the Imp just go crazy when he murked Tywin? The Wall storyline has been fantastic this book.
Okay so I never really shared my thoughts on the book ITT. Mainly because whenever I had free time, I chose to read the book and not update this thread. (Not that y'all care but why not) Loved the book. I'm taking 6 hours of class right now so this book was my go-to after studying at night and I developed a tendency of smoking weed after a long night in the library and reading several chapters of Storm of Swords. Overall, this book had, by far, the most action. It got to a point where every POV change was going back to a scenario where the main character was right in the thick of a difficult situation or even a battle. Jon Snow-I will admit, throughout the first few books, I got bored with the Wall storyline. It seemed like he spent a lot of time dicking around on The Wall, and I found the going ons in Westeros and even Quarth a lot more interesting than the Crows training for some battle that [I thought] wasn't coming. Obviously, a lot of that changed when The Others showed up, but I feel like I really got to know Jon Snow a lot after he joined Ygritte and the Wildlings. He fell in love and showed his vulnerabilities. His internal struggle with being a turncloack was evident throughout the book, and it was actually a major relief when he finally slew one of the wildlings and headed back to the Wall. Although it was sad seeing him leave Ygritte. His triumphant rise to Lord Commander was awesome, and it pisses me off that I have to wait all the way til DWD to find out what happens next with him. Catelyn-I know, she gets a lot of shit on this board for being an overbearing cunt of a mother and a grieving bitch throughout the series. However, I came to enjoy Cat chapters because I thought the characters around her were great. Robb was obviously a fan favorite from the get go, but I also enjoyed Brandon Tully and the Karstarks. The whole dynamic Robb had with his "kingdom" was great, and it fucking sucks that he was killed by the Freys. Overall, it was annoying hearing all of Cat's internal dialogues, but her chapters were enjoyable because Robb was such a badass. Davos-For some reason, I just loved the Onion Knight. maybe it was because he was a good father, or that he used to be a smuggler. either way, I enjoyed his chapters and it pissed me off that he was imprisoned for what seemed like half the book. I LOVED it when Stannis showed up on the Wall. Just when you think he is defeated, he pulls some badass stunt and basically forms some awkward alliance with the wildlings/night's watch. I love how the prophesies basically paint Danny off as the lightbringer, but Stannis is so convinced it is him. it will surely lead to some cool storylines later in the series. Overall, I loved Davoss' humble outlook, and I really do think he'd make a great Hand. (Probably a better Hand than Stannis would make King) Arya-Easily one of my favorite characters in the series. I just feel for her. The poor thing has been through so much, yet is so young. It's badass that she uses all these shitty things happening to her as a flame to fuel her vengeance. Her nightly "prayers" are great, and I think her stabbing the fuck out of The Tickler was one of the best parts of the entire series so far. She is going to be a badass knight, and hopefully be trained well by the skinchangers or whatever. Jaime-Didn't think I'd enjoy jaime as much as I did. He is just fucking hilarious. His general outlook is just so arrogant and condescending. I also loved the chapter when they went into detail about The King's Guard. I was a little confused by their whole order and I'm glad they cleared it up. GRRM does a good job of making me (the reader) feel pity towards a man that has done nothing to deserve anyone's pity. He is spoiled, incestual, he killed a king, and threw one of the best characters in the series off a tower at the very beginning. Yet for whatever reason, I can't help but root for him. Tyrion-Just a sad, sad book for one of my favorite characters. His role is obviously somewhat diminished after Tywin shows up, but it just pissed me off hearing Tywin speak to the Imp after he requests Casterly Rock. He has been "fucked" his entire life, and it is just so Martin-esque to continue to make bad things happen to him. The scene with him crawling through the pipes of The Red Keep was great. Him killing Tywin was shocking, and I am afraid he will just disappear to one of the free cities, and his role may diminish in the next few weeks. Either way, Clash of Kings was HIS book, and I will never forget how much I enjoyed Tyrion Lannister running shit in Kings Landing. The Red Viper was just a badass and I hate how he died. "YOU KILLED HER, RAPED HER, ETC" was just a gut wrenching scene. Bran-He is just a great, powerful Warg. His physical handicapt has obviously forced him to center his power into other things, and I love it. The Reeds are great characters, and I hope they stick with him in his journey to meet the 3 eyed crow. I also hope we get some Rickon POVs eventually, but the whole direwolf connection is one of the coolest parts of the series, and I hope it stays that way. Don't feel like doing Sansa or Samwell, but I am about to start Feast for Crows. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
“Elia of Dorne,” they all heard Ser Gregor say, when they were close enough to kiss. His deep voice boomed within the helm. “I killed her screaming whelp.” He thrust his free hand into Oberyn’s unprotected face, pushing steel fingers into his eyes. “Then I raped her.” Clegane slammed his fist into the Dornishman’s mouth, making splinters of his teeth. “Then I smashed her fucking head in. Like this.” As he drew back his huge fist, the blood on his gauntlet seemed to smoke in the cold dawn air. There was a sickening crunch. Ellaria Sand wailed in terror, and Tyrion’s breakfast came boiling back up. He found himself on his knees retching bacon and sausage and applecakes, and that double helping of fried eggs cooked up with onions and fiery Dornish peppers.
a little over halfway through Dance with Dragons. I love it and will probably post more thoughts later, but I swear there is nothing GRRM likes more than a solid dungeon scene. If there is someone inprisoned, there will be a POV consisting entirely of their suffering and deranged thoughts. Spoiler I'm at the first Cersei chapter of Dance
After reading different theories, these are my predictions for the future. Some I am more confident than other, but I acknowledge that that vast majority of these won't even be close to accurate. Spoiler -Jon will be reborn as Azor Ahai. Mel certainly has the capabilities to make it happen, and it just makes too much sense. I am also convinced that R+L=J, and there would be no point in doing that if Jon is dead for good. I love the idea of Jaime taking the black and becoming Lord commander, that would just be great. -I think there is a chance Jojen is actually Howland Reed. Just because I know they come from the COTF, and it would make sense because they call him "little grandfather." although I'm not sure if I can come up with a reasoning for concealing his identity. Either way, I look forward to meeting Howland. -Aegon is a blackfyre. He is the "mummer's dragon." I'm not sure how this will be figured out, but he sucks. -I don't think Tyrion is a Targaryen. Hopefully, he will eventually reach Dany. Dany's storyline has been shitty. I guess she's going to have Drogon kill that Khal and his bloodriders, and she will take over the Khallasar to take back Mureen. Fuck that place, though. Eventually Victarrion will show up with the horn and tame these beasts. I don't buy into the "Quentyn is a alive" theory, but I guess I won't rule it out. I am confident that Dany and Jon are two dragons, but I have no idea who the third is. I guess it could be Tyrion, Quentyn, Victarrion, Bran, Aegon, or someone we haven't met yet. -Bran will stay in the tree all the time, but I don't think he'll stop taking other skins. I think we'll see him as a wolf, raven and maybe even Hodor. I also think there is a chance he will warg into a dragon. (You will not walk, but you will fly.) -Stannis isn't dead, but I think he is defeated. Cersei will die after the Hound slays the zombie mountain in her trial by combat. thus fulfilling the hound's prophecy while he represents the faith. -I think the wall comes down soon and forces everyone to put their direct attention to the wall. The reborn Azor Ahai leads an army of Westerosi, the watch,(led by Jaime) dragons, giants, wildlings to defeat the Others and the entire realm yields to him. He takes a new throne and rules the realm until the end of time. :D
I know the chapters from tWoW ,emotion Stanis in some form or another, but I don't read those so I have no clue what they say and they have no impact on my prediction. Spoiler . I think Stannis is alive and after meeting with the emissary from the iron bank, he agreed to pay off Roberts debts if the iron bank helps him win the throne. I think he then abandoned the attack and made for the sea to get ships and food and reinforcements from the iron bank. I think Bolton's bastard found their former camp, assumed they were dead and wrote the letter to Jon acting like he had won the battle
ask in the book 5 thread. I prefer not to read them and just wait and read the whole book when it comes out, but some like to.
