Sources say ESPN won't get broadcast rights to World Cups 18 & 22

    The issue is that this may lead to ESPN diminishing their EPL coverage, as they lose some of the incentive to pimp soccer to the American audience. Bad news for everyone. I hate Rupert Murdoch.

    The ratings are good, so they'll continue to promote it. Possibly hurts MLS though.

    I wouldn't be surprised if ESPN or NBC Sports goes after the La Liga English language rights once they're up (according to Wiki, after this season) to get full coverage of Barca and Real Madrid, who also play at more convenient times for the entire U.S.

    Which would then basically put GolTV out of business.
