"We are unanimous and firm in our decision to call a strike," AFE president Luis Rubiales said. "The league will not start until a new agreement (between the league and the players) has been signed." Rubiales is demanding the introduction of a fund to protect players' wages if clubs become insolvent. Last season a mid-season strike by AFE, over the non-payment of around €4 million in players' wages owed to various footballers in the Segunda Division, was called off after a late agreement was reached. The La Liga season is scheduled to start on the weekend of August 20-21. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...rike-to-delay-start-of-spanish-season?cc=5901
