It's that time of year again, folks. Hopefully some of the knowledge gained from last year was retained and newer, more bold ideas will be applied this season. I'm heading to pick up supplies after work since I won't have time tomorrow due to the games, and I'm heading to the lake right after work Friday. That being said, what's everyone working with this weekend/season? TLAU Menelaus dawgonit a.tramp wes tegg The Milkman BayouMafia I can't remember who else to tag, or if I tagged the right folks even, but come one come all and share in the bath of this glorious libation!
I really wanted a bloody mary the other day and didn't have any normal vodka or mix. I used some Honeysuckle Vodka that has been in our freezer for years it seems. Spoiler Dolled up V8 with some Tony Chachere's, tabasco, olive juice, and lime and it really didn't taste that bad at all.
My mother in law makes the world's best garlic pickles. I will be incorporating them heavily this year.
Can't remember who recommended it last year, but freezing cubes of tomato juice instead of using ice is an absolute game changer. Can't recommend it enough.
Jalepeno vodka, zing zang, Tabasco, dash of Worcestershire, cracked pepper, pickle and olive. What do I win
http://www.newdealdistillery.com/our-products/hot-monkey-pepper-flavored-vodka/ It is a local Portland, OR distillery. I imagine it is hard for the rest of you to find this vodka, but if you have something similar I recommend you make a bloody mary using it. Otherwise the same things I brought to the equation last year. Sriracha is a good add, and basically a bit of whatever hot sauce you use will give it a kick up.
Titos Zing Zang Pickled Okra Pickled Okra Juice Prepared Horseradish Dilly beans Pepper Tabasco Line the rim with my homemade bbq rub That's my base, love adding bacon and other assorted meats/pickles/things on sticks
Nothing better than getting overly drunk the night before college football tailgating and that feeling after getting through about the first 1/2 of a bloody mary when hungover as all hell. You go from feeling like shit and questioning if you can actually do this to being well on your way to drunken enjoyment and football.
While I support this thread wholeheartedly, its a beyond rare occasion that I don't just go tito's and zing zang, and splash with crystal and maybe some lea and perrin's if its within arms reach.
Owsley have you made it to the Nook in ATL yet? Bloody Mary game ridiculous Spoiler yes - tots, bacon, steak, toast, hard boiled egg, beef straw
does Specs not carry the Bloody Revolution mix in your hood? I think it's state-wide and delicious http://bloodyrevolution.com/where-to-buy/
I just went and checked my bar and I have some of this stuff in habanero. No clue where it came from. It better bring its A game if its going to go toe to toe with ZZ.
Go Old Pepper: Old Pepper Pour out 45 ml bourbon into a cocktail shaker with ice. Squeeze in 30ml lemon juice, dash of worcestershire sauce, dash of chilli sauce, dash of tabasco and 2 dashes angostura bitters. Shake and strain into a sour glass. I use Louisiana hot sauce in place of Tabasco.
Someone give me a non spicy (no Tabasco) recipe. My stomach doesn't allow me to have anything spicy or I'll be doing of heartburn later.
I'm the same way. Do it like I did in the second post with normal vodka and it really isn't all that spicy. V8, lime, olive juice, lime juice, okra juice, pepper, and some tony chachere.
depends. if i'm at a restaurant, sure i'll have one with a chicken leg attached. at home, eh probably not
Sriracha salt http://www.amazon.com/dp/B013YOL2VO?psc=1 Or make your own. https://www.google.com/search?q=sriracha+salt+recipe
I had a cocktail at a restaurant in Bar Harbor, ME that is topical. "Dirty Pearl" - Tito's vodka, olive juice, pickle juice, pepperoncini juice, hot pickled garlic clove, and pickled onion. It was fantastic.
A legit make your own Bloody Mary bar with base recipe cards and all the garnishes you can think of are great for weddings. I've been to a couple weddings in Charleston with them and never ate anything because I filled up on shrimp/oysters/bacon/smoked sausages and pickled vegetables from the BM bar.
Can't wait to wake up Saturday, cut my grass and make a Bloody Mary. I rode zing zang hard for the last few year, but making the switch to Charleston Bloody Mary Mix for this season. Big fan of it.
Tomato juice just isn't appealing to me at all. I'd much rather tuck my sack up and just order/make a screwdriver. Is there anyone else in here that wasn't interested in a tomato juice based drink that had an incredible Bloody Mary and changed their opinion?
