Gomis is useless. Fabianski is not the goalie he was last year. Shelvey not even on the bench seems dumb. Move Ayew to Gomis' spot and bring Montero in
Seeing lots of calls for Monk to get the sack, questioning his team selection and preference for starting his old teammates instead of younger more talented players. Moyes is being bandied about.
Putting Britton back in the lineup was a desperation move and I don't think it can be defended. Cork and Shelvey are better and need to be in there over Leon. I don't think Ki knows how to play with Britton like he does with the other midfielders. Fabianski and Bafé taking big steps back are the difference though. I don't know if a new manager fixes that. Maybe some January spending does.
I agree with FactsRule let's see the club spend some money and bring in new talent while doing our best to hold onto the talent we do have. If that can happen and he struggles with his selections then fuck I don't know what defense I have for him. Sucks to say.
Routledge still does some good things but I tend to think Barrow should be getting more of his minutes.
I said it earlier I here but if Edercant produce goals (he hasn't shown he can and was injured for the last game) Bafe should be benched and Ayew should be the striker. He doesn't stay wide when he plays on the wings anyway. Put Barrow and Montero out wide with 3 of Cork, Ki, Gylfi, and Shelvey in the midfield and I think we'd be okay. Also, Nordfeldt should probably get a look in net.
Yeah, I think it's a mistake. Maybe when Jenkins talked to him about how he planned to turn it around and what he needed in January window, he didn't have the answers Jenkins was looking for. Right now, it just seems like panic. Huw Jenkns is obviously a big Brendan Rodgers fan but now there are reports he's declined an offer to return to Swansea, so I don't know what they're going to do.
So Pep left the team as well. As did James Beattie and Kristian O'Leary. This weekend and future weekends without a management staff should be a further shit show.
Alan Curtis is interim manager from what I've seen. I'm not sure where we go to replace Garry but Ian Darke thinks Ryan Giggs would be interested. Not sure how I feel about him or Poyet who is also rumored. Actually I'm fairly certain types have no interest in Poyet as manager. At least I can be somewhat excited about Giggs.
Just finished the match as I had it recorded. Just felt expected for some reason. Good performance by the guys though, I was pleased really.
So Bergkamp has stated he isnt a candidate for the opening and doesn't have an interest in being a manager. Who knows how much is media speak or what.
Marcelo Bielsa the favorite to become our new manager this week. I for one would welcome his crazy antics with open arms if he could get us back to winning matches.
Any chance Tabanou plays under a new manager and stays in Swansea? I'm guessing he is certainly on his way out.
Is Shelvey and Montero as subs with Leon starting really the best we have to offer? I love Leon but this is a guy that was possibly preparing for an MLS move.
Two handballs in the box not called. That's the shit that you just can't have when you're struggling like this. Played good enough to win and instead we're stuck settling for 1 point in a 0-0 draw against a team wrecked by injuries. Maybe the new year brings a change in luck.
Huw needs to make a hire so we can get back to work. Alan Curtis has done a lot for us but this is a guy who doesn't want to be in charge.
Yeah if you are making the move to axe Monk then you should have had the replacement already lined up.
You also are starting to handicap that eventual new manager by not giving him enough time to figure out what moves should be made in the upcoming window.
Think it was the biggest mistake of the Huw Jenkins era. It's obvious he made a desperation move for no real reason other than he must have thought Monk couldn't lead us out of the dry spell.
What's up with Gylfi this season? I haven't seen or heard much from him. Has he been injured at all or just a dip in form?
The only thing I can think is that in the meetings they were having, Monk said some shit that didn't make any sense. I do not think he works well with Bafé. Bony was much better at the hold up / link up play that creates opportunities for Gylfi's spot. Bafé is a straight poacher that rarely does anything else.
Bafe just doesn't fit this team or our style. He's done well at times but seems like the majority of the time there is a disconnect between the midfield and he.
Guess I missed Palace sitting at 5th in the table. Hopefully Curtis can pull another 3 points and this time on the road. We recalled McBurnie which is interesting. Not sure what the plan is but I'd actually be somewhat okay with us featuring him up front. We aren't scoring anyway.
Today's lineup is going to lead to some ugly play imo. Fabianski Naughton - Amat - Williams - Taylor Shelvey - Cork Barrow - Grimes - Emnes Gomis
Apparently they are going to attempt a diamond with Barrow and Gomis up front, be we all know that Bafe is going to end up being the most forward of the bunch
Although I should say seeing Grimes getting the start is exciting for me. Think the kid has tons of potential.
Well in all fairness this is already quite the shit show from everyone in the 11 not named Ash Williams. The midfield has no link up, we have no shape and almost seems like no plan for how we were going to attack Palace.
Barrow made a great turn but there was no support for him to get the ball to. Just an ugly first half. Need to swap out Grimes for Montero.
Grimes just isn't ready for the Premier League yet. He is a detriment to say the least right now which sucks to say.
I think he would be better at the top of that diamond. Right now, he seems to be more worried about defensive positioning than just playing.
Bizarre substitutions there. Shelvey has two bad set piece deliveries and he gets replaced by Ki. Gylfi replaces Emnes who has done some good things and Grimes stays in.
