Gylfi talks about signing new contract. At the end mentions "both the Wales boys" hoping to carry Euro success back into the season.
So apparently we rejected the £10 million price. This makes sense given the ridiculous numbers flying around this offseason, but if Ash wants to leave, he'll probably get to go.
Nathan Dyer signed an extension with the team. Huw Jenkins expects to have one or two new additions announced in the next couple days.
This season is going to be so stressful or super exciting. Not sure yet. Curious to see where Olli McBurnie ends up on loan or if he stays with the senior squad. U21's would be a waste for him.
I have no ill feelings towards Swansea so instead of Schaudenfreude for taking your captain just a few days before the season, I kind of feel guilty about it. I'm a big fan of Gylfi so I'd like to see him get the armband.
For whatever reason, he wanted to leave. I hate seeing him go and I don't think we have anyone that can adequately replace him back there. This team has been poor at scoring the past couple seasons and have gotten by relying on Ash and the defense to keep them in games. We are going to have to score a lot more this year if we are going to have a decent season.
At least you won't have to live and die with the form of Gomis anymore. Borja would be an impressive signing. You've probably got a sizable amount of money to go shopping with now. Are there any high dollar transfer targets that have been floated around for you guys?
For CB? I don't think I've heard anything. We signed Mike can der Hoorn earlier in the summer, but we also sent out Kyle Bartley on loan to Monk and Leeds in July, so overall we're down a CB
But offensively, I am happy with the changes. No more Gomis and picking up Llorente and Borja for Ayew has me excited offensively.
In FIFA career modes, there's always the random player that just becomes amazing and in mine Bartley is a 90. Think Swansea sold him for $90 million.
Gutted that Ash decided to actually go to a larger club. Good luck to him but fuck this sucks for us. Oh well I think the new boy will be okay back there, Amat has showed promise and I'm surely hoping we add another.
3 days away! So thinking of the first 11 Guidolin rolls out there. Assuming we run a 4-2-3-1 with two wingers. St- Llorente is the obvious choice. I'd put it at 85% sure. 10% chance Routledge starts up front and about 5% Borja runs out if confirmed Wednesday Att. Mid- Gylfi will definitely be the play here and should be the first name on the sheet. LW- Montero is the pick and one I'm pretty confident with. RW- this is one of the trickier decisions. I could see Routledge and experience or Barrow and pace. I'm thinking Routledge to start and Barrow somewhere between the 60th-65th minute. Hell it may even be forgotten man Dyer. CM x2- This is also one of the spots I don't think are set in stone. Definitely see Cork in the first 11 played fantastic this preseason. The other spot could be Leon or Ki but I'm thinking it's Fer because Guidolin has always seemed to really fancy him. RB- Competition between Naughton and Rangel and I'm gonna assume that Rangel has continued to be the better option in Guidolins eyes although I'd prefer Naughton. Side note.....we really need to strengthen here. CB x 2- Fede is of course going to start. In the role beside him I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Van der Hoorn gets the chance to start. Although Amat wouldn't surprise me in the least. I only chose Mike due to his height advantage. LB- Taylor is pretty set in stone here. Really need to strengthen both full back spots as Kingsley is our lone backup and competition for Taylor right now. GK- Fabianski is of course the choice.
I think the wings are going to be Routledge on the left and Dyer on the right and it's going to upset me. I think Amat starts at Ash's spot. Gylfi gets the armband. If not him, maybe Routledge.
We are heading to Peterborough for the second round of the EFL Cup. Hopefully we don't embarrass ourselves and go out early again and can make a deep run.
So, apparently no Gylfi, Ki, or Taylor tomorrow. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-team-set-play-11741036 We're getting 0 points from this match.
Yeah I'm not a huge fan of this. I mean we really should be getting a point or points from matches against Burnley.
Barrow gets the start. I'm happy with that. Brits gets the armband today. 25s25 seconds ago Swansea City AFC @SwansOfficial #Swans line-up v @BurnleyOfficial: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Amat, Kingsley, Britton (C), Cork, Fer, Barrow, Routledge, Llorente.

We are playing pretty well and on the front foot for sure. Just feels like there's a bit of class missing for sure.
Routledge struggling to link up with Llorente. Having Cork as that forward midfielder is an odd choice too. I would have expected Fer to be in that spot. Fer needs to do better on those 50/50 balls
Fer and Routledge have struggled this match, would love a Monter and Gylfi swap with them. Good half though, plenty of chances, good solid defense in the back.
Without Gylfi, Wayne may be the only guy out there that can take a decent set piece. Routledge was good in defense. He just had trouble connecting with anyone offensively from play
I'm fine with it, gives us the subs we needed but I think after should have probably come off and I think I'd rather have kept Barrow on the other wing opposite Montero.
That was a great header by Llorente that lead to the Fer goal. Was really hoping he bagged his first in a Swans shirt.
So I have the Swans app on my phone (and have for years now). Today, when I go in the app to check the league table, it is showing the Championship table. This is not the optimism I am looking for guys.
Fernandez tweeted this Fede Fernandez– Verified account @pajarofernandez Great start the season!!!! I guess you have to have a sense of humor about it.
Seriously though, Fede has an amazing ability to get on the end of corner kicks - he's probably the best on our team at it. He just manages to match that ability with an even more impressive ability to direct the ball wide or high in those situations regardless of the body part he attempts to use to score. You'd think just on accident he'd score more goals (He finally managed to knock one in last season off his shoulder against Villa)
That's what happens when you celebrate the first match day with vodka starting at 630 in the morning...for sure.
Looks like Borja tweaked something in his leg and is out this weekend again. Gylfi and Ki will both be apart of the starting 11. I'm guessing Fer will be coming off the bench and Taylor will start over Kingsley but I wouldn't be too shocked if Taylor comes off the bench.
Yeah I saw that and it was right after I saw the news Ayew was out for 4 months and thought to myself "boy we really dodged a bullet." Sounds like it isn't that serious though.
Whoa....Kinglsey is starting again Saturday. Supposedly Guidolin has told him his spot isn't guaranteed.
