He was giving him a chance to save his job. Hell he almost worked his way out of it. If tolleson keeps getting on run out there in high leverage spots, I'll start blaming bannister. But I don't blame him for last night
Im fine with tolleson pitching the 9th if we are up three runs (if we have to use him at some point). I hate the idea of the permanent closer who only pitches in the 9th. I just don't ever want him in the game in the 7th, 8th or 9th if it's a close game, or if there are multiple runners on. He can't be out there in tight spots, he is terrible
Shawn Tolleson is no longer the Rangers closer, having been told today that he is being moved out of that role. Via Jared Sandler, Jeff Banister says the are going to "wrap our arms around Tolly and figure out what's going on."
You guys should really make a move for Jeremy Jeffress or Will Smith when he comes back from injury. I would hate to see your playoff hopes go down the drain because of your bullpen.
I had been holding out the smallest bit of hope that Darvish might return to the major league rotation after his last rehab start, but he will be making at least one more appearance in the minors before coming back to the big leagues. The sense seems to be that this will likely be his final rehab start, and he appears to be on target to start for the Rangers at home against the Pirates on Friday, May 27.
During Sunday’s game between the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays, Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor lobbed the punch heard ‘round the world at Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista. The punch, which earned Odor an eight game suspension from Major League Baseball, also scored him a pretty delicious reward. According to SportsDay DFW, Fort Worth’s Heim Barbecue has extended Odor free smoked meats for life in response to the punch. Owner Travis Heim had 40 t-shirts reading "Rougned Eats Free" printed, and planned to keep his promise. From there, the demand expanded dramatically. At present, more than 110 of the t-shirts have been sold.
I have the "Yu is my homeboy" shirt and the "Now watch me hit. Now watch me Beltre" shirt, but even I wonder why anyone would want a shirt that says "Rougned eats free"
The Texas Rangers have optioned lefthanded reliever Andrew Faulkner to AAA Round Rock, according to John Blake on Twitter. The Rangers haven't announced a corresponding move yet, but I think it is reasonable to expect that Shin-Soo Choo will be activated from the disabled list tomorrow.
no more 5000 degree day games during the summer According to two major league sources, the Rangers and City of Arlington are about to announce plans for a new retractable-roof stadium that is expected to come on line earlier than the current lease expires following the 2023 season. An announcement could come as soon as Friday. It is uncertain how far ahead of the 2024 season the new stadium could be opened -- or how it would be financed -- but getting into a new retractable-roof stadium ahead of time is likely to significantly increase the value of the club and add multiple years of new revenue streams.
Hey guise, I'm drunk and everyone I talked to tonight said thank God Bautista got nailed. So fuck that mlb thread
Dallas isn't getting anything. Even if Arlington hadn't ponied up no way Dallas was willing to spend as much as a suburb like Frisco.
Arlington had the ability to let them out of their current lease if they built the new stadium in arlington Rangers want a new ballpark sooner rather than later
A sport with 81 home games needs to be in an area where they can get a large number of walk-up sales Not a city of 300,000 that is 25 miles away from the downtown of the largest city in the area and about 50 miles away from where the growth is going But thats just being idealistic, I realize it wouldn't happen regardless
I worked for the Rangers in the ticket office for fun a few years ago. The walkup sales even on a random Tuesday night are huge.
It's not that hard to prove. I would take a $5 uber to downtown and catch a $20 ticket any day of the week
How many businesses in the downtown/uptown area would buy blocks of season tickets if they could walk clients down the street to the stadium?
Actually though I'm just pulling your chain. As I said in the MLB thread it really should be in Dallas, but it won't. The Cowboys tried pretty hard to get a stadium in Dallas and the city couldn't get it done.
City of Dallas is such a clusterfuck politically that there's probably no chance it would get done before either Fort Worth or one of the burbs up north like Frisco or McKinney coughed up the cash for a new stadium if Arlington had passed on it
