Ken Rosenthal ✔@Ken_Rosenthal Cole Hamels needed eight stitches in his chin after he tripped coming out of bathroom in his hotel room at 5 am. "Now I can sleep," he said.
Getting a solid starter under team control for a couple of years makes too much sense Next year we are looking at a rotation of Hamels, Yu, Perez and ?????. Holland is a free agent and terrible. Lewis is old and cant do this forever. We have a grand total of zero good pitching prospects who are close to major league ready. So we could trade for a pitcher now which would help us this year when we have a chance to make noise, or we could wait and pay the free agent premium to add 2 pitchers to our rotation in the offseason. Additionally, it seems pretty certain Yu is gone after next year. Profar hits arbitration next year, has nowhere to play for us (assuming we are dead set on keeping Rougie over him), and his value is pretty damn high. If we can get a *good* starter under team control for a couple of years, we need to do it.
you keep saying this but I have not read that anywhere. why do you think that? I think the new ownership group has shown that it is willing to spend the money to attract top talent. I'm sure they'll find a way to keep him. there's no way I would call him leaving a foregone conclusion
but agreed on the other counts. we definitely need a SP, and if we get a few years of control out of it, all the better if we're dealing profar or odor though, we definitely need a top of the rotation arm
Texas Rangers rumors: Joey Gallo has long been thought to be off-limits in trade talks, but according to Jeff Passan, "sources familiar with the talks" between the Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays believe the Rangers are willing to deal their power-hitting AAA 1B/3B as part of deal to get pitching from Tampa.
wow colome has some really good numbers, me likey. first time I heard his name connected though, would he even be in the deal? I guess if you're throwing Gallo in there
why do you like moore so much? I'm not blown away by either his or odorizzi's numbers. both FIPs in the high 4s and WHIPs approaching 1.3. marginally better than Holland's numbers
We had a tight budget this year. Yu is going to get about 30 million a year. We have 90 million a year committed to 5 players in 2018. Without dumping one of them I don't see how we can possibly afford Yu. And thats not even counting the hefty raise Odor is going to get, or any hope of future financial flexibility. Plus, Yu has been playing on a below market contract and has no real reason to give us a discount. The Yankees are about to have a TON of money come off the books and could certainly use a starting pitcher, and Darvish is the best one that will be available over the next two years most likely. He is going to get paid. Its going to be difficult to keep him
The yankees are going to lose the following contracts over the next two years: Teixiera - 23 million per year Sabathia - 25 million per year Arod - 21 million per year Beltran - 15 million per year I would kill to be a very good FA in the MLB the next two offseasons
these jerseys look nice Texas Rangers @Rangers 3h3 hours ago THIS JUST IN: We #TurnBackTheClock 30 years tomorrow & will be wearing @MajesticOnField 1986 jerseys at LAA!
just got back from 10 days in Belize jesus guys you really let the wheels come off of this thing while I was gone
Nice of Lohse to groove one in to pujols down 3-1 in the count with a base open at first Not sure why Lohse is still pitching there if you aren't going to walk Pujols to be honest
Best case scenario is its career ending (feel bad because he is a good dude, but that contract). But at least this way we don't have to worry about benching him permanently and pissing him off/the locker room off...because we still have him for what, 4 more years?
