I ran by there on Sunday and was thinking that it didnt look even close to opening. Should be nice but its taking forever. And they have had that sidewalk shut down for too long.

    Construction trailers arrived last night.

Removing my feelings about making my commute longer, I have mixed feelings about the project. Curios what retail tenants might work, as they can't subsist off the tenant base and walkable neighbhorhood alone. But 10ksf isn't that much in context of other projects, likely over 4-5 spaces.

Now my selfish reasons: will make my commute longer having to go to East Lake and possibly push me back to a car. I'd prefer to see a Lindbergh style deck for parking. The parking lot is not under-utilized, it was nearly full this morning. Removing 200 riders for 224 units who at least half will likely not ride just doesn't add up to me.

Wish the train would simply operate without the delays first. The delays in the afternoon have become almost a daily occurrence. It's pitiful.

    http://columbiaven.com/projects/spoke/

*Edit, I'm against it. There is no affordable component and its all market rate. The lack of affordable pushed me over the edge. I knew there was no way that was 392 units.

Such a better project with the senior component. Would rather see an affordable aspect there too.

Post's downtown project only has 10% LIHTC, which I believe should be higher.

agree on the affordable aspect. like that the senior component is phase 1 and they have partnered with a grocery store chain to go in under the condos. I may never see it happen, but that stretch of college between Arcadia and Clarendon is about to blow up. Makes Avondale look a lot more promising in the short term

We're likely coming in the next year or so, Adair Park has been a tough sale.

GF is hesitant about pioneering, so we might be a year or two too early. I'd like it to get on the West End station in the mornings.

Friends have told us there aren't any retail amenities nearby and have to drive a bit to the grocery store near W 285. I have to do more research if I'm going to justify the reasons to move there.

yeah no parking deck feels odd, unless they're worried about crime rates or something.

I get the reason why they didn't include one, but it's ignoring the reality of the situation. Mayson is tight due to the on-street parking, makes most of it a one way artery. Whitefoord is nearly a parking lot in the mornings already. They're going to force a number of cars onto the neighborhood streets and cause more congestion. People are going to wind up going to a different station or driving, not get onto a bus and add another 20 minutes to their commute. I don't see it as a viable way to increase ridership and the lack of affordable % kills it for me.

The land has also been cleared just south of LeFrance for a TH project.

News that's sure to make The Dude happy: The Comet Pub & Lanes is just about ready to go in Decatur. The bowling alley previously known as Suburban Lanes will open to the public this Friday, July 15, at 2619 North Decatur Rd.

The revamped venue is operated by the team behind Twain's Brewpub & Billiards, and Twain's chef Savannah Haseler designed the menu. The Comet's fare appears to be a step up from typical bowling alley cuisine. There's a build-your-own burger made with White Oak Pastures beef, which can be served as a single, double, or triple. A chicken waffle dog comes with Pine Street Market chicken sausage fried in waffle batter and served with a maple-bacon aioli, and a cola-barbecue pulled pork sandwich is topped with cheddar and fried onion straws.

The beer menu won't offer anything from Twain's, but it focuses on craft, local, and micro brews. Sixteen draft and 50 bottle selections can be found at the wrap-around bar. As for the bowling, The Comet houses 32 lanes that can accommodate six players at a time. Updates to the alley include iPad systems for scoring, new televisions, and refurbished lanes. For the bowling averse, shuffleboard is available to pass the time.

The Comet Pub & Lanes is open 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., seven days a week, and afternoon hours should be added in the near future.

Midtown is going to look crazy different in 5 years.

Next step is to get rid of Peachtree-Pine and let that area infill so there's a more natural Midtown-Downtown flow. Would love to take Downtown back from the convention/tourist/pure business crowd.

Line the Beltline with light rail with connectivity to Midtown/Downtown and to encircle it all and baby, you've got a stew going.

Bought my midtown house in 2013. All of this development, just in the last 3 years, has been insane. I'm pretty excited from a property value perspective

What's a good spot to wander around maybe Midtown and grab a couple of drinks? Wife has a lot of work to do and I need to get outside for a bit. Debating going to Krog or PCM, but have already been. Also would like to hang out with someone if any of you want to meet up, but it seems like that request always goes unanswered.

I hope Downtown blows up with the L5p revamp. There are a bunch of cool old buildings down there. Let's get some residents there. Then infill/revamp everything between North Ave and Downtown on the east side.

Really think living around Peachtree/Piedmont and Pine, could be really cool. Downtown to the south, midtown to the north, close to Piedmont. Soon light rail running East/West on North Ave so easy to get to PCM.

Atlanta is gonna be really cool. Just needs to hurry up pls

Midtown needs more bars. The one negative with everything being brand new, everything that goes into these spots kinda has to be real nice.

We need more Jack's style dive bars or just real casual places in midtown. Not a ton outside of Cypress that I can think of off the top of my head

Feels like it's doable but would need to start south and work north to downtown at this point. Clear that crap up and make MLK more honkey friendly and it might be possible, problem is so much of downtown was built for mainly business though.

Hi friends. I'm in early talks with a company based in Sandy Springs. It's super early and unlikely to amount to anything, but I'm a planner and enjoy window shopping. So, where should I live? I'm 32 with a wife and two kids under 5. Did some research and it seems like the Sandy Springs schools aren't that great. Wife currently works from home but is unsure if she'd be able to do that from Atlanta, so she may be job hunting. TIA.

Duluth is great. Close to the interstate. Good home values. Buy my house. We're looking at moving back to the city. In all honesty, live in the city. We moved out of soon. The drive/commute isn't bad at all, but, still. Don't have to worry about schools until middle school. Buy our house.

At least an hour each way unless she goes Roswell Rd. 400 in the morning is backed up going south by 7 and going North by 4. You can't go wrong in Roswell or Alpharetta but look into Dunwoody as well.
