Saw Burr at the Tabernacle a couple of years ago when he was taping a special. He's awesome. Lady behind me was so offended she got up and left. Pretty cool that he was in Breaking Bad albeit a small role.
Hello to my fellow Atlanta people..haven't been around in a while. Started working at EY downtown a few weeks ago, so that's pretty awesome. I was looking for the ATL restaurant list that used to be on this page (at least I thought) and I can't find it
http://www.ajc.com/news/news/crime-law/autopsies-planned-today-for-teens-found-dead-behin/nr8TW/ What is going on OTP these days? This is some sad shit. Hope they catch the person soon.
http://atlanta.curbed.com/2016/7/29/12325470/study-building-affordable-housing-atlanta Author does a poor job of defining "Affordable", are we talking inexpensive or are we talking Affordable programs from the government such as Housing Choice, LIHTC, or bond? The dumbasses in the comment section of any article never cease to amaze me.
It appears Columbia Venture is applying for some type of Affordable designation at Candler/Edgewood in exchange for $2mm, not sure what program yet but this is really late in the game, doubt it comes through. Would have to come from CoA and not a HUD or tax credit program. Construction is a mess at the station and there isn't enough parking for the daily riders anymore. I genuinely hate this shit project. It simply doesn't add ridership in sufficient numbers to warrant being built now. good article on the decision to urbanize downtowns: http://www.governing.com/columns/urban-notebook/gov-economic-development-subsidize.html
How is the CFB hall of fame? I haven't been, but think my brother and I are going to check it out Saturday.
school is starting back so i dont *think* there will be any kid issues if not crowded, anywhere from 30mins to 1 hour. Its self-guided and mostly interactive, so you can kinda a la carte what exhibits you want to see/do.
I got a SPG "hot deal" for $70, so we're staying at the Sheraton downtown. Now that I know the HOF is an hour or so commitment, any other recommendations to keep a college freshman occupied? No idea if he has an ID.
other than your typical touristy stuff downtown (Aquarium, World of Coke, CNN Center) I have very little idea of how to entertain someone who isn't of legal drinking age. for food cuntiness, you may want to check out the food hall at Ponce City Market and then walk it off on the Beltline
World of Coke and Civil Rights Center is right there. Jimmy Carter Library or Cyclorama at Grant Park via Uber. Just avoid the Aquarium imo. They might be having 20th Anniv. Olympics stuff going on at Centennial Park. If you guys haven't done Top Golf before, its over on the westside near the star provisions development.
Good call on Civil Rights Museum. Believe they moved Cyclorama to the Atlanta History Center on Paces Ferry. Dad worked at the one in Chattanooga during college when it was still Confederama.
think Cyclorama is at Grant Park until 2017. Im still pissed theyre moving it. Edit: nevermind, they have closed the exhibit this year. SMH. Was one of my favorite things to do as a kid. Supposedly the Atlanta History Center has a really good exhibit on the Olympics. But thats a hike from Downtown.
Through the years, we've hit up most of the touristy stuff. Atlanta was a hot field trip locale for Montgomery/Auburn school children. Love the idea of the food hall/beltline.
if you're downtown doing the revolving Bar at The Westin SunDial is always a personal favorite, they will let you up for free even just to look around.
Basically what I tell people now in Colorado who ask me about Atlanta. All I can say is I really have a hard time suggesting something not centered around food/alcohol :/
Georgia Dome hosting USWNT Sept 18. Presale code is A1DRIVE if interested. Gonna be a post-Olympics hype bump probably
I always tell myself "I'm not going to drink this weekend" and then it gets to be like 3 PM on Saturday and I'm like well what the fuck else am I going to do.
They arrested this guy at his girlfriends house that is only 3 doors down from my parents. Time to white flight ITP.
I saw the guy they arrested. I'm interested to find out the details behind it and the motive. My guesses are that they were being teenagers hooking up wherever they can (which in this instance was behind a Publix) and somehow this dude came across them and went into rage mode for some reason and shot them or that they were meeting this guy to purchase an illicit substance and dude went into rage mode for some reason. Either way, good chance he is getting a lethal injection down the road.
I haven't been yet. Curious about it, not quite enough of a sneakerhead to make a big deal about whatever's there but figure it has it's interesting parts to it.
Think our heat is about to break. Next week is mod to low 80s all week. Please God I am ready. Also a good sign to football is near
The wife and I were walking around the neighborhood a couple of hours ago. Without a breeze the heat felt like it was just sticking to us and I need a nap after only being out an hour.
That's the truth. I had an awesome time, though. It was my first time to do it. What time were you there?
