Are there TVs on the roof at PCM? Saturday seems like a good time to go but want to be able to watch football. Dearth of good outdoor sports-viewing areas in a town like Atlanta IYAM.
How is no one hit with 60 bullets fired? http://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/shots-fired-midtown-gun-battle/1d1cUFBn5qylgl55721eFJ/ Spoiler A shootout near popular Midtown bars and restaurants late Thursday damaged 19 vehicles and littered the corner of Crescent Avenue and 13th Street with more than 60 gun rounds, police said. The gun battle occurred nearly one year after Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed met with Midtown residents and laid out a multi-pronged plan to push back against an uptick in crime. RELATED: Reed lays out plan to combat uptick in crime No one was injured in Thursday’s shootout, but witness James Keaton Maxwell said it was “literally too close to home. “I heard yelling and it wasn’t like drunk or angry yelling. It was fear.” Follow James Keaton Maxwell @keatonmaxwell Car with bullet shot in it! Like, where am I living? @MidtownATL 12:42 AM - 7 Oct 2016 · Atlanta, GA, United States A hotel and a condominium complex on 14th Street were hit by bullets, rupturing a water line and causing flooding inside the Mayfair condominiums, Atlanta police Officer Kim Jones said. Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown moved guests in a room struck by one of the bullets to another room. Police found rounds from at least four different guns and an AK-47 rifle in bushes near a parking lot in the 1100 block of Crescent, Jones said. The scene was cleared about 2:30 a.m. Friday.
Also, there should be a story tomorrow about the SLS Hotel. People are saying there's a decent chance it could break ground this year.....hopefully.
Fair enough, I can only speak from personal experience when I visited a few weeks ago and the lines were 30 plus mins.
Feel like it depends on who's in front of you and how idiotic they are about bin usage. Women who don't fly seem to be the worst at this process
did TSA precheck last week, lines were 2 minutes. Regular couldnt have been more than 15. International TSA is also the best at ATL. You will get bad lines if youre leaving at peak times, but typically something you can plan around.
There was literally no line at international TSA when I went last week. I will be going to international every time from now on since I got the Chase Sapphire Reserve and the airport lounge I have access to is in Terminal F. Annoying that its not more accessible from MARTA. The shuttle bus is fine but it literally has to drive all the way around the outside of the airport. In the time it took the shuttle to do that, I probably could have gotten through the normal TSA line.
Clermont Hotel renovation breaks ground next Monday. http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...eaking-set-for-clermont-hotel-renovation.html
Weird, that never happens. Tons of folks on the north side of Edgewood when I got home about 7, didn't appear they were running westbound trains in. They mentioned it being out over the intercom at 5P.
Tried to do my ATLien duty by taking marta to the Hawks game. They forced me to contribute to the traffic by taking Uber. I'm leaning toward sending them my receipt for the trip to expense it.
http://atlanta.curbed.com/2016/10/17/13305550/murder-kroger-will-die-later-this-month RIP Murder Kroger. Pretty pissed about this since it's so close to my place but its for the good of the city.
Thoughts on Amendment 1? https://ballotpedia.org/Georgia_Aut..._in_Failing_Local_Schools,_Amendment_1_(2016)
I dont trust private corporations with no direct accountability to the voter. Just another step towards school choice and New Orleans style charter schools, which will only entrench the societal divides which currently exist. Im also not voting 'for' any initiative championed by white people until they pass a comprehensive Mass Transit bill. If they want to give $8B to rail expansion, I'd be more apt to listen to their education fuckery. Otherwise, my Mom's bitching against the amendment wins my vote.
Gotcha. Just haven't heard much about it. Working from home this morning and have seen 5 commercials on Channel 2 for either side. Clearly going after the stay at home mom's vote.
Apologies in advance since I know it's not Atlanta and it has to do with the Braves, but... Athens, Georgia based Terrapin Beer Co. is building a new pilot brewery at Suntrust Park, the new home of the Atlanta Braves. The stadium opens in time for the 2017 season. The build is separated into two parts: The Microbrewery, aka ATL Brew Lab, and The Terrapin Taproom, which will feature Atlanta famous Fox Bros. BBQ. The Battery, a section adjacent to the stadium, that houses both the ATL Brew Lab and the Terrapin Taproom, will be open year-round. Concessionaire Delaware North will be running the Terrapin Taproom. http://beerstreetjournal.com/terrapin-will-open-a-pilot-brewery-new-braves-stadium/
5P MARTA station shut down for a suspicious package. And another student housing project for Tech. These Landmark guys in Athens build really nice complexes. The Standard in Athens hasn't been able to keep or lease any of their retail though, likely won't be an issue here. http://www.studenthousingbusiness.c...on-765-bed-mixed-use-development-in-atlanta-2
Is this the construction where the old bank was between West Peachtree and Spring around 5th? Demo has already begun.
WRS is betting on Downtown. https://www.google.com/maps/place/74...8!4d-84.391377 http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...ed:+bizj_atlanta+(Atlanta+Business+Chronicle)
I remember there being an RFP for Downtown in regard to creating a 24 hour space on Peachtree. Hopefully we'll hear something about that soon.
Is there anywhere in Atlanta I can buy Jittery Joe's whole bean without going all the way down to the Ritz?
I've done some work on the Clermont project. Those guys have had some major challenges with financing, engineering and approvals among other things but have stuck with it are doing things the right way. It's going to be pretty nice when they complete it.
For DeKalb County --- an addition to my house. Do I need architectural drawings or is a stamped site plan sufficient? The Permit Guide says site plan, but my GC is saying archs. I'm going to the Permit office early next week to hear with my own ears. Anyone familiar?
I already made a reservation for Sunday. Hope this recent rash of rooftop bars is the beginning of a trend. Res at Staplehouse tonight as well.
Likely both- not sure about Dekalb but City of Atlanta requires 4 copies of Arch and 11 copies of site plan. I'd imagine Dekalb county does plan review in a similar way- splitting up civil/site, MEP, and Architectrual
Anyone else in DeKalb Co see their water bill go up for no reason this month? Mine went up by $150, and had never been more than $30/month http://www.myajc.com/news/news/loca...alb-water-bills-may-get-outside-review/nst6Z/
