Need to ask the wife to check ours. I posted about our whole ordeal of getting our water turned on when we moved. I don't think I've ever seen a more incompetent agency than Dekalb's Watershead.
People in Kirkwood constantly bitch about high water bills. We are Dekalb but use CoA water. Not sure if different.
This has been an issue for a ton of people in my neighborhood. Just randomly getting popped with outrageous water bills. I think DeKalb is aware of the issue and trying to figure it out. You still have to pay it tho which is ridiculous. You get a bill every month? We get it bi monthly and it's always between $100-110, including trash
They changed to digital meters that weren't waterproof, has caused massive issues with reading them. Likely someone tried to set up a scam using them and it hasn't worked either.
The food was very good but the service is what set it apart. Waitstaff was incredibly friendly and explained every dish in a very non-cunty way. Bunch of interesting dishes and an origin/story behind each (Lamb tartare tossed in scallop oil, chicken liver tart with apple jelly that was delicious but not anything I ever would have expected to exist, bread was original recipe from the chef's grandmother, etc.) they told you the origin of each component of each dish. Even described the beers to me when I ordered them without me asking. Had a very good experience on the communal patio. Only complaint was it was a small dish type of place; I starved myself all day in anticipation and should have had a PBJ before I went. Everything was fantastic though.
Nine Mile Station was great. Food was really good, service was too. They didn't have their liquor license yet (they got it today), which was disappointing, but they let us bring in beers from the bar on the roof and credit it to our tab at the table. Think the service was extra good because they were trying to make a really good impression (and it wasn't crowded at all), but I wouldn't be surprised if it goes downhill once they get busy. The manager sat with us and chatted for 20 minutes or so. Hard to imagine a better rooftop view in all of Atlanta. Yes, it's expensive. But it was worth it, IMO.
did Hampton + Hudson on friday night with some friends, was surprised by how empty it was and equally surprised by the food. just not a very good product. except the hot chicken biscuit appetizer. oh and they were also out of the first 3 beers I ordered. not great.
H&H has become my go-to Saturday night spot the past couple weeks. It's not great but its perfectly adequate for what it is. Atlanta could use some more sports bars.
It's towards me. Just a small place next to a Publix. I really like their brisket actually. Very solid choice for when I want BBQ but arent looking to go too far. Much better than most of the other 'big BBQ' places outside the city.
Going to be in town for business Wednesday afternoon to midday Friday. I'll be staying in Buckhead. Right now the plan is Ladybird or Superica for dinner Wed, Iberian Pig for dinner Thur, Antico at some point (is that the best pizza in ATL?), and I still need a breakfast spot Friday. Any recommendations for pizza and Friday or alternative suggestions for Wed/Thu if those are no good?
I'm confused. You're here for business but your itinerary actually contains good things and you're not asking us for suggestions in Alphretta. Seriously, though, that sounds great. I like the pizza at Amazza better but most say Antico is the best. Eat at superica, not Ladybird. Ladybird is a better place to drink.
How far are you planning on going from Buckhead for breakfast on Friday? White House is the commercial real estate spot and nothing special. There aren't any special breakfast spots in Buckhead. Silver Skillet off 14th in Midtown is your old school diner, but if you are working in Buckhead no point in going down there and back with traffic.
Not really sure where we'll be Friday, so just looking for anything right now. I just wish I had more time. I rarely make it to Atlanta but am an avid follower of this thread. So many good food options, almost reminds me of Birmingham.
I think dishes that are a bit more traditional, or involve more traditional ingredients/combinations is about the best I can describe it. These are business dinners and I think there's concern about the dishes being too far "out there" for our guests. Edit: Just to be clear, I didn't have final say in these restaurants.
Is that place actually open yet? I stayed next to there for four months for work prior to moving here and it was always "coming soon." Drove by 2 weekends ago and it was still not open.
I went just for drinks on Friday night. Not by choice. Rooftop is pretty cool, but as you can imagine that place is expensive as fuck. Hot ass servers though.
I've been to the one in Tribeca and it was pretty damn good. Very different than any steakhouse we have in Atlanta
Just went to MF Sushi, and now at Hampton + Hudson watching some baseball. Not good that I know both of these things are within walking distance of my house.
I go to Corner Cafe in Buckhead for work breakfasts. It's not great, but good enough. The corn beef hash is tasty.
Atlanta Beer Garden on Edgewood opened today. appears to be an actual real beer garden vs the shit they put on top of PCM
Hudson and Hampton looked decent when I walked by it going good beetlecat Sunday. Seems most our sports bars are chains. Couple but not many barish dirtier sports bars
I know someone posted ITT that they didn't like it, but I think H&H is a good second date spot. The ladies love Inman Park.
