Neighbor only gone two hours, house broken into. Good thing he's poor and they only took a ps4 and his tv
Good friends of mine got robbed last Saturday when we were at Ladybird day drinking. They hit several units at Alexan on Krog, got guns, jewelry, laptops, etc. Fucking scum.
Had a break in via broken window a few weeks ago up the street. The burglars knew which window to enter to avoid the german shepherds in the back yard. Came home from a work trip 3 weeks ago, DeKalb police were in front of my house. Neighbor broken into but no signs of forced entry. Took pistol, ps3, and ipad. Currently playing on the ps3 online account per the teenagers friends. Sounds fishy, we think its an old boyfriend.
one of the Ivy owners is buying Family Dog, keeping the name http://atlantarestaurants.blog.ajc.com/2015/11/25/has-the-family-dog-been-sold-to-the-ivy-owners/
Benjie knows how to run a bar - so at least it means no more running out of beer. As long as they don't try to turn it into the Ivy I think they'll do a good job
Heading down to Atlanta in two weeks for a job interview. Want to be prepared if I end up getting an offer so I'm starting to research areas to live and such. Any recommendations for the place to live as a young professional in the city? From what I've read midtown and virginia highland seem to be good spot. I like going to bars and stuff
Those guys are printing money with their bars. Not a fan of their bars, but they know their target markets and do a good job on making a ton of money.
how old are you and what's your relationship status? Virginia Highlands Midtown Inman Park Decatur Old 4th Ward are where I would start
precisely why I think they'll do a good job with Family Dog. They have already stated they are keeping the name. They know concepts and will play to the morningside/older va highland crowd
Yea I knew Daniel before I retired from the game. Knew them right as they were starting their little empire. I just want them to keep the same vibe at Family Dog...just run/operate it better.
Inman Park/Highlands if you want more of a residential feel. Midtown if you want to live in a condo high rise. Decatur is also awesome. If you still want to act like you're still in undergrad, Buckhead. but a lot depends on where your office would be b/c traffic is hellacious.
Ivy, a place in Nashville (South) and Bham are the ones I know of. Can't remember if they still have their place(s) in Athens.
started with City Bar and General Beauregards in Athens (they have since sold City Bar) South in Nashville The Southern Kitchen and Bar in Birmingham
downtown area off exit 249 on i85 i believe looking for the lightest commute available. lived in DC for about a year and the traffic was brutal. i'd like to keep that to a minimum.
they shut down Generals i think, not sure if they plan on reopening it. But them selling off the Athens locations seems like a natural progression.
Midtown or Inman Park w/o a doubt then; tho Marta runs to Decatur. If you're in Inman Park or Highlands you'd have to use a car.
I work downtown and live in Ansley/Morningside area of midtown. My commute isn't bad at all. You could also live in parts of East Atlanta or the Highlands
I live in Midtown and love it - very close to work and more of a city feel. I would try to live anywhere around the Eastside trail of the Beltline. Not necessarily because the beltline is so great (although its a great thing to live by) - but because all the areas around there are the best areas to live nowadays.
if you like to be hip or get weird then I'd reccomend Glenwood or East Atlanta Village. I love it over there.
I've been so enamored with Decatur since we moved down here I have yet to make it over that way. think I'll try this weekend.
In a solid high rise you're looking at $1,600 - $2k. Some of the smaller buildings you van probably do closer to $1,300 if I had to guess
I am paying $1550, but you can probably find something for around 13 or 1400 if you get the right unit.
it does seem like more and more virginia kids are moving here over DC - whether b/c they get tired of DC or the cost of living or what. Interesting.
You don't have to, its just bad for business. And I think they spelled it with **, not that it matters.
DC the city itself is alright. I just couldn't stand the people there. Most of my friends live out in Arlington. DC is also not a place people tend to stay for awhile, unless you grew up in one of the burbs. Even then, you end up moving back there. Real estate is just too expensive to realistically raise a family in the city. Virginia is a weird state that really is a mix of southern and northern styles. I'm from the southern area so Atlanta felt like more of a cultural fit.
First for the good news: The board that oversees the Beltline could pick a builder for the Eastside Trail's next leg at a meeting scheduled forDec. 9, according to the Saporta Report. That's obviously a vital step in bringing the beloved multi-use trail from the Old Fourth Ward through Cabbagetown and Reynoldstown. Now for the bummer: As previously feared, the Eastside Trail's next phase won't quite reach Memorial Drive, but will reportedly stop a few blocks short at Kirkwood Avenue, for the time being. In news that could be related, the city is preparing to authorize the use of eminent domain to acquire additional land for the Eastside Trail — the same process used for securing vital Westside Trail land — if it should come to that, the website reports. Last month, as the deadline for bidding on the Eastside Trail extension project was near, Beltline officials told Curbed that they've procured all necessary funding and the portions of rail line where construction would take place. (Exactly who's vying to build the thing is a closely guarded secret). Once ground breaks, the extension is required to wrap up within 18 months. There's no word on when direct Beltline access via Memorial Drive might be a real thing.
