picked this up for work, but knew some in here have wanted to try them out. Not a bad price. I originally bought these to add to my work shoe rotation...however picked them up on steapandcheap for 50 right at the deadline and later found out they're more race day shoes. So maybe I'll try them out, or just send them back. I'm pretty much team newton for my running shoes. As for what I've been doing. I hit the 4 miles on a ten minute mark but some skin issues has had me sidelined.
Picked up some Nike Free 4.0s a few weeks ago. I wanted to try them out because the stability shoes I was recommended due to overpronation never seemed to help. I was always in pain. Lo and behold, no pain since starting the Frees. While I love Brooks, I don't think I'll be going back.
Ran 3.6 miles in 30 minutes yesterday. Not terrible considering I've been averaging like 1 run a month for the last year between nagging issues and a shitty schedule.
Ran my first race ever today. Half marathon. Just a little under 2.5 hours. Was great, can't wait for another. Want to do some 5k and 10k and improve my pace.
I watched some. How are those guys so fast. I think I saw Rupp run something like 9:43 in a 2 mile stretch towards the end of the marathon.
First time running outside in shorts and a t shirt this year. Dont know if excited for running and hiking season or sad ski season is almost done
4.2 miles at 8:29 pace. Getting back into it with nicer weather. I have been an Asics guy for years but know Brooks and New Balance are reputable shoe makers for distance running. Is Saucony worth a shit?
10k is the perfect distance IMO ... did my first tempo 5 miler in months, ran an 8:14 pace. that's off where I was at my peak last summer, 7:30s or so, but I haven't been testing myself much. lots of slow runs with the dog. did an 8 and a 7 miler last week though, still feel like I'm in "roll out of bed and do a half" shape ...
how do you like the Hokas? I've run 26 miles in them in the past 10 days or so and having foot issues blisters one toenail is purple pain in left foot
I bought them for work. If I'm walking and moving I like them. However, I'm im just standing still they're a little painful.
3.1 miles/5k, 30:01 time, 9:41 pace. First time running a 5k nonstop at 30 mins. Edit: I mean first time since high school. Back in my middle school/high school days I could run forever and a 6min mile. Can I get back to that nearing 40 years old after sitting on my ass for 20 years?
Since starting my 10k training I've run a total of 63 miles since jan. 2nd. From now until march 23rd I have 83 miles of training remaining. :)
I still haven't set any running goals. I'm still in the "just get out there and run" phase. Do you guys have any goals? run [x] miles in 2016? set PR in [x] race?
Going to run the Peachtree Road Race (10k) this year. So right now I am working up to that. Have a 5K in March and a practice 10K in June.
I've never run a 10k before, so the crecsent city classis is my goal and what I'm "training" for. Ran 2 miles yesterday and will run 3 today.
Tonight: 3.1 miles, 29:54 time, 9:39 pace. Improving slowly. Started out first mile at 8:58 then really slacked the second mile. Doing a 5k run this Sunday 2/28. A small race. I found last year's results, 352 people ran. A time of 29:54 would've put me at 119th place. I guess my only goal should be to set a personal best.
my main goal in 2016 is a sub 19 5k (pr right now is 19:21) Id like do a 10k in ~ 40:30ish (pr right now is 42:10) then a sub 135 half I have a marathon on March 20th, my goal was to do around 3:20, now its just to break my pr of 3:34 because I'm sucking right now
tried to run 18 on saturday, ended up running 9.5 :////////////////// my heart isn't in marathon training did a 7 miler at 7:08 pace last night
I've found listening to podcasts to really help distract me when I run decent distance, as in anything over 5 miles
Earbuds always fall out of my ears when I run on a trail or road so I got use to not having them. When I run on a treadmill I like to listen to a nice hour long podcast. Going to give these a try. http://www.amazon.com/SoundPEATS-Q9...760777166[a|B0132YHU0I[au|5727177402741770316 $16 with code SDQ9A15U
4.5 miles this morning. Ran the first 2 at a 9:27 pace. 9:43 pace overall which is the best pace I've run since I started in January. Pretty happy about it.
waiting for whatever fuckery is going on with my knee to subside so I can get back at it. i shit you not, this is the 1st time i have ever attempted to "ease into it" and "build up" and it is also the 1st time i have ever had knee issues. screw this crap, when my knee gets better i'm just going to bust 10 miles out.
4.1 at 7:31 today. After doing 16.1 yesterday in the CF Open, my legs are completely shot. However, the shin splints that plagued me for 2+ years? Still completely gone so I am super pumped about that.
February was my most consistent running month ever since I started last August. Took a big break from Nov-Jan. Now I feel like running every day. Any suggestions for an actual weekly run schedule instead of just "head out and run a few miles when you can"? I need to mix in some damn gym time and get stronger
Probably going to start this after a 5k race on 3/19. http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51122/10K-Novice-Training-Program
Thanks, yeah that sounds good. An actual program like that. I will have to tweak the schedule a bit but should be able to follow it. 8 weeks from now looks like there are 3 10k options for me. 10k – April 23th - Coconut Grove, FL http://www.ficpa.org/Content/EdFoundation/Events/1040K.aspx 10k – April 23rd - Hobe Sound, FL http://www.downtorun.com/events-item/dtr-endurance-challenge-spring/ 10k – April 24th – North Miami Beach, FL http://www.worksmartplayharder.com/
I've been using the crescent city classic training schedule and really like it. http://www.ccc10k.com/uploads/files/2016trainingcalendar.pdf
my doc switched up the anti-inflam he had me on for the past month and said if my knee isn't showing improvement in another week he will schedule me a consult with an orthopedic surgeon. it showed great improvememt in the 1st week with the steroid pack but has slowly declined once he switched me over to the non-steroidal.
So I signed up for a 10k in a month. Haven't been able to run much over the winter. I can easily run that far but how fast is the question. Got to get back into it big time.
4 mile run on the treadmill @1.5% incline. 9:15 pace. My face is beat red. Man it's so much nicer running outside with fresh air hitting your face.
