I got a pair a few days ago. Haven't run in them yet. Really like them though just wearing casually and to work. Never worn Nike Frees before.
Fucking done running in the afternoon after work this summer. 93 degrees with 43% humidity down here in central Georgia is too much of a fight. And its only going to get worse. To mornings we go.
Putting on my bad idea jeans and going out for 4 miles in 80 degree weather. Should be 85+ when I get back. Awesome.
2 Mile warm up. Then 5x (30 sec uphill hard effort, walk down then 75 sec 5k effort, walk down) Hill Repeats. Then 1 mile cool down. I am hobbling around the office now. Ankles are killing me.
My sweat stench is getting worse after my long runs. I mean, bad. Soon as I walk in the house it's a strong ammonia-like smell. Recently I hopped in the shower right away after a run (without really cooling down first) and could barely breathe while taking a shower. Finally Google'd this and it seems I'm not eating enough, or not eating enough carbs. Anyone else experience this disgusting crap? I'm just not sure why it seems to be getting worse. I ate a shit load of carbs today and ran 4 miles tonight. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/more-sports/running-doc-carbs-curb-amonia-sweat-article-1.1249616 http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ammonia.htm https://www.google.com/#q=ammonia+smell+after+running
anyone have a hard time adjusting from indoor running to outdoor? ran 4 miles a day 4 days a week all winter and spring on a treadmill. have been transitioning to outdoor running over the past month and i'm just sucking. last night was brutal because humidity was like 98% but even with decent weather, i'm hitting a wall around 3 miles. was hitting 5-6 consistently last summer and i'll eventually get back to that. just find it odd that i have such a hard time with the transition. obviously treadmill running is less physically demanding, but i wouldn't expect it to make such a difference.
Interesting I did a low-carb Keto diet years ago and checked my ketones levels back then but I don't think I really even exercised much back then so I can't compare. Now I eat lots of carbs so I don't understand how that's possible. I'm going to get some of those keto test strips to test it out
yeah, i've thought about doing that for awhile. i just hate treadmill running so much that doing something to make it even more awful is kind of hard to stomach
Just set the incline and forget it. Think of it this way...if you're going to do something that sucks you might as well get good results from it. Make the time spent on the treadmill count.
Definitely takes some time to get used to. uneven surfaces, heat, humidity, impact of inclines and declines on your joints. you'll get there.
Pro tip: don't load up on bloody Mary's, waffle cakes, and fair fries the night before a 5k. Was hoping for under 27 but ran over 28. Much better than the 41 I walked/ran last year.
I did a mile run with a 22 pound vest this morning just to see what it's like. I think I'll do it again for 3 miles next time. Adds a different element.
I think those are best for adding weight to resistance training (pull ups, push up, sit ups) I really wouldn't do anything other than walking or cycling with one on.
Posted this on my FB and one of my short, fat, and extremely out of shape classmates wrote "c'mon man, my fat ass can run one in under 30 mins". I asked him to run one with me in August.......
Yea, it was at the beginning and end of a workout. Pretty rare for me that I would use it, but figured what the hay
I walked once with one on it didn't seem bad. I don't think I could run with one on. I use mine for the resistance training I do
You should be be treadmill running at 1% always... Knocking it up to 2-3% isn't even noticeable, but will help with the transition.
Is there any kind of formula or common proportion for figuring out what run at 100 degrees is equivalent to 70 degrees or whatever? Idk if that makes sense but basically when it's hotter, I know your heart and everything is having to work harder so at a higher temp it would seem less distance would produce the same amount of cardiovascular exercise
Been doing it for awhile now. Feels good to get it out of the way. Some days its still a little too warm in GA at 6AM.
Read where a coach in Runner's World said if the heat index is above 95 then running outside actually takes away from the quality of the run. Takes his runners indoors. That's when I said fuck it and have changed it up to the morning.
Obeying Crosswalks Yes or No? I obey the crosswalks bc I run pretty early in the morning and I don't trust any drivers on their way to work. Have at least 1 close call a week when I am obeying the crosswalk signs anyways.
Obey. You're not going to win a collision with a car. I assume most drivers haven't seen me until they acknowledge me. Their sorry waves when they drive in front of me while biking or running wouldn't mean shit if I didn't pay attention and they hit me.
No. I look to see if anything's coming, if not I'm going whether light is red or green. I don't run with headphones because I rely on sight and sound to make sure absolutely nothing is coming
