Knocked out 10.5 miles today. I have never ran over 10 in my life, so this was a decent milestone. Still roughly 2 months out from the Marathon, but I feel good about my amped up training.
I used to wear the nimbus. I loved them but I moved to the kayano which fit my running style better. First day of 2nd week of my half training did 3.3 in a little under 28 still around the 8:20 a mile pace. Think I am getting too much in my head worrying about my stride.
Bought those in March and have put about 450 miles on them, love them, zero problems. Just bought a new pair last week. Stuck with the same Nimbus 18. First pair is still holding up well after 450 but wanted to start working in a new one.
Thanks for the opinions on the shoe guys. I'm going to bring them back to the store today and make sure they fit me the best. There was a pair of brooks ghost9s (i think) that fit really well too. When I got home yesterday i tried on the nimbus again and walked around the house a bit. The back of the shoe felt a little high around my achellies, like it was rubbing and pulling the top of my sock down into the shoe which I didnt notice when i tried on at the store. I just want to make sure I'm getting the right shoe.
I love the La Recoleta area. That and the port/business district area were great for running when I was there last.
Monday I did some speed work: 1000M at 10K Pace 2x800 at 5k Pace 4x400 at Mile pace 3x300 at Mile Pace 2x200 at full sprint It felt good to change the pace a bit and hopefully helps build help up my oxygen capacity. Then I ran 3 yesterday at a really slow place and I felt like shit. Hopefully todays long run goes better.
3 miles at 10:54. Again, just an idiot doing it in 85 degrees with 80% humidity. Oh, and I decided to start doing the uphill run today. Wise decision.
Garmin tells me mine is 48bpm. Not sure how accurate that is but I'll humble brag damn I love not being a fatty.
I hate running, but after the last 3 weeks I think I'll be joining this thread. Being in the Reserves my run time has been slacking so I started on the Runkeeper app. Been doing the Running 4 Fat Loss program. Running every other day for about 55 days. Done 6 runs over last 11 days. 4 runs of 30 mins steady pace. 1 run of 40 mins steady pace. 1 run with 3mins fast pace, 3 mins steady pace x5. Pace has increased each time and ultimately I feel so much better throughout the days. Gonna keep up this running, along with some weights. Having mainly just ran on and off for the past 2 years rarely running over 2 miles, I am starting to enjoy longer distances. Would love to get back to 5 miles x 8 min pace when I was in peak shape.
3 in 25:25. Not sure why strava stopped on me but it recorded on my garmin. Have my garmin connected to my strava account but it didn't transfer.
Lifted this morning after 3.5 Mike's yesterday. Gonna try to get in 6 tomorrow but if it's 90 or storming, that may fall short. I only need 2.5 to get to my 15 mile goal for the week. One more week of that then I'll push out to 20+ and start getting ready for an Oct. 23 half. In other equipment news, I'm trying contact lenses for the first time in years. I'm looking forward to not having sweat eat away at my glasses, or having them fog up in the cold. Or to be able to wear some light sunglasses. One more thing...like I'm a nube because I sort if still am...best ideas to do some speed work? I run hills. I can't not, really. And I do have access to a track.
90 minute run (about 10 miles) last night 9 miles at "easy" pace 8:50 1 mile, the last mile, at "race pace" 7:35 The marathon training plan is to extend the 90 minutes gradually up to 160 minutes, and gradually increase the # of "race pace" miles to run at the end of the run.
Been running in two different pairs of Kinvara 6's. One pair is about to cross the 300 mile mark so decided to get a new pair with more cushioning for my long runs. Went with the Saucony Ride 8 since it is comparable to the Kinvara just with more cushioning and stronger outsole.
2.16 at 10:22 this morning pushing my girls with a flat tire on the stroller plus another mile walking.
5 miles at 11:18 Ideally, I would have had an 11/mi average, but it was 77 with 97% humidity. I had to peel my shirt off at the end as if I had jumped into a pool first.
3.5 miles at 8:18. Got home in under 30, my new best. Spotted another runner about 6 blocks ahead and wanted to chase him down. Didn't quite catch him before he turned off of my route but it helped my push. That's another thing I like about running the Rose Bowl loop. Always lots of folks and I definitely feel more motivated to run there. Plus, there are always some really nice looking yoga pants wearing ladies. Just have to put up with all the awful Bruin signage that they were putting up this week.
I am going to try and do 20 on my bike and 3 running today instead of 4 tomorrow as my long run. I remember you mentioning you'd lost weight. What are you down to and what was it from?
Weighed in at 171 this morning, down 22 lbs in a little over 10 weeks. It's the same 20+ lbs I lose every year. Generally I spend the first three months of the year losing the weight and the next nine putting it back on. This year, I just wasn't motivated in January. The disgust kicked in late May so got after it June 1st. Gonna stay on the diet grind until kickoff on Sept. 3rd but hope to stick with the running for the rest of the year.
I am mildly optimistic that my knee pain is finally gone. I've been having issues since March, but nothing major, just stiffness and pain (especially at the start of a run). It hasn't hurt since my run on Saturday, or even been stiff. I'm cautiously hoping it's worked itself out for good. Will know after tomorrow's run.
I'll be getting some for winter. Up to this point, it was just a nagging issue, not really serious so I just kept going and monitoring. But being rid of it would be glorious.
Rolled out of bed 8 hours later and out in 3.1 miles in the dark at around 11:30. Slow even for me on a three miler, but with tired legs. I don't love doing back to back like that, but I have kids' school open houses tonight and the weather is sketchy all week. If I'm picking this week to get back to 20 miles, I may have to run when I don't feel like it.
Okay running Bros talk me out of going to McDonalds. I haven't had a shitty fast food or soda in about 10 months. For some reason I have been wanting one. Tell me how horrible it is
