I don't drink. But you talked me out of it Okay but That's not what I am looking for I want not to eat it
Dude you're running it's fine. Go get some of America's best french fries and the best fountain Coke in the land, and thoroughly enjoy.
Yeah, if you're going to splurge on fast food go somewhere better than mcdonalds. Also, 2 miles at 9:23 pace with a nice side stitch the entire run.
Not terribly bad for a minute on/off also where I just moved there are killer hills every direction I could go.
Got a Big Mac and fires it was horrible and not worth the 22 miles I did today at least I didn't get a coke. At least I remember why I don't eat like this
Went out and ran my first half marathon last night. I like running at night at times, it's cooler, less road traffic. I ran the first 4 miles pretty easy, started picking things up around mile 5 and then hit a mental and physical wall around 10.5 miles. Gutted out the last 3 miles, but my ankles were hurting bad at the end of it. Cardio wise I felt good, but this was the first time in a long time where my legs really started to feel it. I know I am going to have a lot of mental breakthroughs as I continue to push my distances each week, I just hope my legs hold up better than last night. Taking a couple days off to rest up, but I will be back at it again on Friday. I have been documenting my training via video blog for about 10 days now. I will probably throw it up on my youtube channel at some point. The cool thing about this journey is each week I will run 1 run that will be a PR in distance. The reward at the end of all this training, is to run a race that is further than any training run I'll do leading up to it. I have 8 weeks until the race, here is my plan of action: Weekly Long Run: Week 7: 15 Miles Week 6: 17 Miles Week 5: 19 Miles Week 4: 21 Miles Week 3: 8 Miles Week 2: 10 Miles Week 1: 8 Miles Race Week I plan on running 4 days a week consistently with my shorter runs ranging between 5-8 miles. I want to run my longest run about 3 weeks out, allowing my body to heal and recover over the last couple weeks. I also watched this documentary the other night and it was pretty good. It is Nova production that focuses on about 10 average people to see if they could run the Boston Marathon after 10 months of training.
I never understood this. I've always been a fast sprinter and naturally skinny. But I'm an insanely shitty distance runner. With a low body fat and long legs I can barely manage to run a 9 minute mile if I haven't exercised in awhile. Right now I'm just running 1.5 mile runs to improve my PRT score. Got my best time at 11:25 over a week ago but now I'm having trouble breaking 12:00. Don't understand that as well.
Really interesting article about how running slower actually improves speed. https://runnersconnect.net/running-training-articles/aerobic-training-run-faster-by-running-easy/
Any experts in here that can provide a good shoe recommendation? I've typically ran in Pegasus but haven't really been able to commit to running very much in a year or two. I'm 6'3" and about 230lbs. Med-high arches with neutral stride. Have had plantar fasciitis issues in the past but resolved with stretching & insoles. TIA
8.1 @ 11:30. Longest run since my half in May and one of my strongest. Still more than two months till the next half.
Best advice is if you do a lot of miles and have injuries go to a your local running shop and get a stride analysis. They'll know what shoes are better for your type of foot/stride, plus you support your local economy. Most of the time they'll subtract the cost of the analysis if you buy a pair.
Rain this AM postponed my long run this week until tomorrow. I'm looking forward to 6 miles in what is supposed to be 60 degrees.
Amazes me how quickly you can get out of shape. I've been at a work conference for the past couple weeks hanging out with coworkers i only see once a year, doing a little drinking, not eating right, staying up late, and not exercising. I went to the gym and to did a light mile run I feel sick. It's a grind and commitment to live a healthy lifestyle in this world.
One of my best friend's (growing up) younger brother just passed away. I believe he was about 35. He was always a bigger cat died of a heart attack. Working out and living healthy is hard. Dying before you're 40 is enough motivation.
Wanted to test myself today, goal was to run 1 mile in under 8 and run 3 in under 30. Accomplished both but felt my Achilles tweek towards the end of the 1st mile :(
How many days on before you guys take a rest day? I'm taking tomorrow off after 4 straight, legs felt heavy today.
night run tonight.. trying to avoid the hit. gotta get back in a routine after this move and renovation.
I work out 6-7 days a week sometimes twice a day. I usually take a day off when I am too tired to workout. My body usually tells me when I can't go like it did today. I took the day off and I'll go straight until I can't. I never do the same style of workout two days in a row for example I won't run two days in a row but I will run and cycle two days in a row.
hey running peeps. if you are looking to kill 1.5 hour, check out The Barkley Marathons on netflix in the documentaries. insane.
59 degrees at start, 63 at finish today. It was glorious. 6 miles at 11:40, felt like I could have gone 10+ easily at that pace and with the weather where it was.
5 in 41. It was about 70 this morning. Was a great run. Signed up for a 10k on Sept 11 which is my late son's birthday. Will be sweet to honor him. If I push it I might be able to run it in 45.
The extra cushion is nice, but they don't breath as good as the Kinvara's. Might need to get some new socks for my longer runs.
What a difference cool weather makes. And more manageable hills than the small mountain I apparently live atop. Ran 8 miles last night on a trail around a lake at a local county park. 11:00 pace on the dot. My fastest pace ever for 8 miles or longer.
Ran 16 at 8:31 on Sunday. Felt pretty good, my lungs were alright but my legs were dead after doing the last 3 at 7:30. At this point I think I could run at 9 minutes forever ( not really) but need to start doing some more speed work to improve my pace. Also, what are everyone's thoughts on recovery runs vs straight up days off? I went for a really slow 3 miler yesterday for recovery, it hurt at the time but I feel pretty damn good today.
How long have you been running? When you just start I think it makes sense to not push yourself and let your body recover. The longer you have been running I think its okay to sometimes not taking any days completely off, unless, like Daniel Ocean said your body is telling you that you need to. That doesnt just mean you are a little sore either.
I do complete off days and/or recovery yoga/stretching type workouts with low intensity cardio in them. I find that has helped me stay fresh and I have not suffered from shin splints like I usually do. Since our halves or so close together I feel like we're training buddies. 3.7 in 30:45 this morning. I am starting to like running before breakfast.
Anybody heard about this? http://www.outsideonline.com/2106741/polar-m600-sports-watch-android-wear-looks-mighty-appealing Half of the price of the Fenix that I want.
4 miles this morning, finished 29:25. Felt good and kinda proud - haven't run 4 miles in under 30 minutes since my mid-30s.
Favorite running apps? I'm sure it's been covered, but apps change and stuff. I used Nike+ Run for... well, forever. Switched to Strava a few months ago, and it's not really that big of an improvement.
Hi. I'm new here. I'm on week 4 of the couch to 5K program. As incentive to finish it out, I signed up for a 5K in October. So that's cool. you guys have fun with all your miles, I'll just be over here plodding along.
Today was a cross training day. Did 20 miles on my bike and a 40 min cross training (plyo, hiit, and strength) session at the gym.
3.1 this morning at the same pace I ran 8 Monday. Lifted hard Tuesday and my body is still tired. I'm going to back off on strength intensity for a few weeks to save wear and tear and energy for 1/2 marathon training. I'll still lift a couple times a week, but more for maintenance than gains and especially easier on the legs. It was significantly more humid this morning than Monday night, making the 3 miles feel harder than the eight. It's crazy the effect of humidity, even more than heat. I won't get my 20 in with a busy week, but we're camping at a state park this weekend and I'll get in a moderate distance for my second run this week in a nicer park setting.
