Sounds a lot like Ratdog with better guitar to me I really like that Mayer is doing his thing and not trying to be Jerry, but the rest of the band slows him down in a major way. Same thing happened with Trey at FTW, but with Mayer it's magnified even more. Things will pick up as the tour progresses, but as of now I think I'm going to pass on Atlanta unless TheFreak55 wants to buy my ticket.
I haven't listened to much ratdog, but the better guitar thing makes quite a difference. Watching some of the clips from last night, it does seem like Mayer is a bit out in front of the band when things really get moving. LIke you said, that' will probably get fixed. I think they're webcasting the last MSG show next weekend (free? also not sure where?). I might opt for that instead of investing 3 hours each way + costs involved with going to the Columbus show. I'm sure it would be fun, but sitting in the back of a basketball arena for a show has never been my favorite thing. But overall I think they're sounding good.
That said, Estimated absolutely craaaawwwwwlllleeeeedddd along. Mayer's tone was spot on though. Actually like Bobby's vocals on this one for the most part. They just need to pick up the pace a bit.
I would if I could Nothing would make me happier than to have enough money to buy my internet friend a concert ticket Don't be a stickler on the technical aspects and go to both if its reasonable
Well of course you do both if you can swing it. Just saying JRAD is the better experience and cheaper.
Heesu thanks for bumping this thread, reminded me to check out 7-19-89 on ReListen app, I wish Archive.org had an app
It's a slight chance, but I might be out east around new years - so one of those shows could be a possibility. Otherwise, I'm prolly out of luck.
I thought he absolutely killed it last night. I really had no idea. I mean, I knew he could sing... no idea he had those chops on the guitar.
Super impressed with his guitar playing. He fits in, while keeping his own style. Vocals are ok. They aren't offensive, but don't really work. But they're good enough.
Laughed at this part "And Mickey, when you're actually listening to a '74 show on your Beats By Dre headphones, and only pretending to play drums with us..."
Unfortunately not. Just couldn't work midweek. Y'all are going to have a blast though. Love Mayer on the PRS.
I feel like that 2nd set @Greensboro got all the tunes http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dead-and-company/2015/greensboro-coliseum-greensboro-nc-3f505a7.html
Eh. I haven't followed the shows too much, but I wouldn't assume that just because they play something one night they won't play it the next.
People who have attended shows: Do they start on time? How long is the show? Or each set? I'm expecting they'll come out a little late and the show will last 3 1/2 hours
That expecting is pretty much spot on, if I don't fall asleep at work today or the drive home it will be a miracle Shitty iPhone
Haha yep. That's why I asked. Gotta drive 2 hours after the show tonight. Probably gonna get 3 hours of sleep and be a zombie at work tomorrow
What did yall think of last night. John floored me. Also read somewhere John and Weir planned this before Fare Thee Well was planned? And also so rumors of amphitheaters in the summer
