Top 3 favorite NC over the ear headphones I own. Sony WH1000xm2 Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Parrot Zik 3.0 (the 1.0 are also damn good imo). As for in ear buds I always keep coming back to my Audiotechnica ATH ANC-23. The main thing about the Sony is their ability to connect via LDAC to my G7 and play HI-FI music as I've ripped several .flac files from CD and for a while was paying for Tidal Premium. The sound is absolutely amazing. That said, if you get a chance to snag any of these at a good deal you won't be disappointed.
Have a pair of sony wh-1000xm3 that I use for at home listening that I wouldn't trade for anything. When I exercise or may be doing something sweat related I enjoy the Bose soundsport frees, they are really comfortable for me. Sound is excellent and I think they look good as well if your okay with them sticking out some. Heard really good things about the new wireless powerbeats that are coming out. Supposedly amazing sound and battery life with a better audio quality than typical beats.
I have these https://en-us.sennheiser.com/wireless-headphone-headset-bluetooth-noise-cancelling-pxc-550-travel and I love them for traveling. Excellent noise cancellation and have access to skip songs or answer phone calls without pulling your phone out since they have a touch pad on 1 ear.
I've been looking but haven't found any IEM's that are NRR for >25db. I work in a loud environment most of the time and would like some good ear protection as well.
Not too confident in answering, but I'd search NRR headphones or similar text on reddit, found threads that are relevant Other than that, CIEMs might be your best bet Either that or get foam pieces or tri flanges that fit snug
Yea all my research has turned up to nothing that's OSHA qualified besides false advertisements. It's a wet dream and I'm honestly only in that loud environment for a total of 1 hour a day total time assuming everything is going well.
Reluctantly dropped too much on the PowerBeats because I figured they would be the best sound quality for BT headphones with ear hooks and no wire connecting the two pieces. Like everything about them except for the fact that they are basically at 75% volume of every other pair of headphones I’ve owned when I put them at max volume. I can fix it with Spotify by bumping up the EQ settings across the board. But for YouTube I basically can’t use them unless I’m in a silent room and am also ok with 75% volume. Is there anyway to fix this? As far as I know any EQ settings in iPhone are just for Apple Music / iTunes. Bluetooth range is great and like the controls + auto ear recognition. Volume is mission critical though
And the EQ adjustments for Spotify fuck up listening to music in the car due to having the bass on EQ turned up so much I have to put car audio on lowest bass setting and still get minor rattles in car speakers when listening to rap or dj
Anyone looking and don't have alot to spend, here is great pair of NC wired over the ear cans for under 25 bucks shipped to your door. $15 for new accounts. Tap the link to sign up and get $10 off. https://merc.li/MzxPJgb
CNET says Bose, Sony and beats are less expensive, more comfortable and offer better noise cancelling. The price point may not hold true with the current special though.
I just received these from Drop to add to my collection and they are pretty amazing for the money. Super comfortable, nice looking and great all around sound. I picked them up for $130 which is an amazing price. https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-hifiman-he4xx-planar-magnetic-headphones
Giving Sennheiser HD 4.40 BT a try. I haven’t had on or over ear headphones in probably 10 years. Like them so far. My bar for these is super low, so interested to hear if anyone had opinions. Seem like an excellent buy at $79.
The deal is still on. I have tons of headphones at this point but for that price I had to see what they were about. I also don't have any other planar headphones, so I am interested in an amp that would do well as a desktop pc amp.
I finally have a place where I can listen to my headphones and enjoy them with my DAC's and tube amps. I've been on a bit of a buying tear lately picking up a lot of the Drop offerings. I purchased the AKG K7xx, which I absolutely love for an open super comfortable pair. I also just acquired the Meze 99 Noir closed cans. I love the look and feel of them, and the sound is very warm and bassy if that is what you are into, but they exhaust me very quickly. They are beautiful though. Both at $200 are still incredible values, IMO. Build quality on both are excellent. I am also enjoying the Hifiman He-4xx I bought a few weeks ago, but they are a bit more challenging to drive. Working straight off of my dragonfly cobalt they sound great. They are also super comfortable. I do want to pick up one of the more expensive offerings from Drop. I am leaning towards the x Focal Elex headphones, but the Mr. Speakers Ether CX , the x HiFiman Edition XX, Sendyaudio Aiva Planar Magentic, and the Beyerdyanamic DT 177x Go also interest me. Lambert any opinions? As an aside, it's amazing how this thread completely changed from an audiophile thread to what bluetooth headphones should I buy. I am not judging. It's just an observation. I do really enjoy my QC35's for plane trips and if I am laying in bed, but I also still love listening to the details of each of the differences between my audiophile type headphones. Spoiler
I actually don't know much about those headphones but I would suggest not spending a ton of money on Beyerdynamic so choose one of the others if you're getting something from that list.
Want to finally make the jump to over the ear Bluetooth headphones and need some suggestions...trying to stay under $200 but could go over for something great.
If you want noise canceling and don’t care about Siri or anything like that the Bose quiet comfort 1s are on sale for 199 on the Bose site.
IMO, outside of the Bose 700's I own both the QC II 35 and the Sony 1000's. Both can be had for $250-279 right now. I have not tried any of the next model deep, but both of these are excellent and fold up into a case. The Sony's give you very cool ambient and listening modes and also have VR. I think I heard the Bose's may have pushed a similar update recently too.
I like the Sennheiser HD 4.40 a lot so far. Sounds good (to me, a non-audiophile), battery lasts an entire workday plus, and their pretty light and comfortable to wear all day with glasses. $80 Sennheiser HD 4.40 Around Ear Bluetooth Wireless Headphones (HD 4.40 BT) It also looks like they have the next step up on sale for $103 w/ noise cancellation. Sennheiser HD 4.50 Bluetooth Wireless Headphones with Active Noise Cancellation, Black and Silver(HD 4.50 BTNC)
Thanks for all the suggestions. Decided to splurge and get the Sony WH1000XM3. Seems to be a model that everyone likes (which is hard in subjective headphone reviews) and was on sale for just a bit more than the Jabras. I excite.
It depends who you ask. The reviews I saw still said that the Sony 1000's are the best after the QC35's held that title for many years. All three are the best IMO, but comes down to preference and features. 700's don't fold up.
My plan to go back to trusty Plantronics Backfirt 2100 blew up in my face. The warranty people swear its an anomaly. I dont really care. Decided to make a splash and get the Power Beats Pros. After seeing reviews i was torn between them and the JBL Flows. But now im seeing Galaxy Bud reviews get thrown in as a challenger. When i got my Note 10 in August they were getting bad reviews and i completely ignored them. Anyone tried them out? Should i even give a shit. Im kinda irked im going to be using an Apple product and have to carry around a fucking lightning cable. So gay.
Powerbeat Pros. So far so good. I really like the pop in sound. I think they're just as good as I expected sound wise. I will say the case is annoyingly big. I didn't think it would be an issue but in reality I have to keep these safe at the gym. And I dont want to get them wet in the shower. So im kinda stuck wondering if this was the best option for me.
just got these, after reading some reviews the other night. I figured for $60, why not? There are a decent amount of lower end similar headphones from Cowin, Mpow, etc., but these seemed to be the best of that bunch. They are ok. lightweight, heavy bass, I feel like the overall sound quality isn't that great. NC seems to work well, especially for low, droning sounds, like a lawn mower. I think they'd be good on a plane. They are a little small, if you have big ears i could see that being a problem.
So my AKG 712 Pros right speaker didn't work out of the box....their customer support has been great talking to so far but it is frustrating.
Thanks. See a bunch of people on YouTube promoting them. Figured they were getting paid for doing it.
