Sennheiser has the PXC-550's for $199 instead of the normal $349.00. These are great noise canceling headphones for traveling and good sound quality. Get about 30hrs with one charge. https://shop.sennheiser.com/store;j...eID=sennww&id=ThreePgCheckoutShoppingCartPage
Did you have the 3s also? I'm hearing that it's not worth buying if you already have the 3s, but if you have neither it's definitely an upgrade (and up to you if you want to spend the extra $100)
I held off for these because I heard the 3s were so good. Multipoint bluetooth seems like enough justification to get the new ones. Thanks guys
Love these. SP800N Since I wear my earbuds most often doing yardwork it was very important they be sweatproof. Amazing sound you can tinker with to your heart's content in the app. Recently getting sale time on Amazon. Also love my new entry level Schiit stack. Got it a few weeks ago after being backordered since Father's Day. A gift from my oldest. Listening to it with my tried and true Senn HD555's but those new Sony M4's got me thinking.....
which cables did you go with the interconnect the schiits? I have the magni and modi, thinking about adding the Loki. I need shorter cables though
I went with Monoprice 1.5ft Premium 2 RCA Plug/2 RCA Plug M/M 22AWG Cable They are 75 OHM that Schiit recommends in the manual and the extra foot of length from much more expensive 6" cables clean up easily while giving me the option to separate the stack down the line if I want to. They are a very substantial feeling cord.
vs the wf1000xm3 I was looking at the SPs but the extra bass turned me off. I love my WFs, but may get myself into trouble sometime with the lack of waterproofness. Your post and comparison articles make me feel like I made the wrong choice.
That extra bass is easily controlled in the app to suit your tastes. I imagine the WFs run on the same app but I could be wrong. The added bass isn't overwhelming imo and it certainly doesn't cause distortion. I went back and forth over getting the WFs over the SPs but I know more than half the use I will get out of these will be while I'm sweating like a pig in the yard. I didn't want to risk ruining them. It's also worth noting that little hook on the SPs that help hold them in place is imperceptible when inserted correctly. Every time I have noticed it I've discovered I put the buds in wrong. I know what you mean about the comparison articles but what put me over the top were the YouTube reviews.
Looking for new TV and travel headphones. Anyone have the Sony xm3's? New model is just being released. https://www.sony.com/electronics/headband-headphones/wh-1000xm4
My bad. Could've just looked up, not sure how I missed it. I've had the 4's in my cart twice now and held off because I thought it might be another drunk purchase.
Looking for something for the TV. Would you all recommend RF headphones, or will a low-latency Bluetooth transmitter do the trick? My main objectives are to watch TV in relative silence, synched audio/video, wireless, hide the transmitter entirely behind a mounted TV.
did you decide to get them? they keep dropping to 280 but I don't commute right now so I haven't pulled the trigger
I did buy them and they sound amazing. Only complaint is some skipping when watching tv even though I changed it to stable connection as opposed to sound quality. Minor annoyance but they’re still incredible.
Negative. I had it on my list for a long time for my next TV. It half-slipped my mind in the moment/there was enough other things that liked that I pretty much knew that’s the one I wanted. At the same time I would have had to pay 100-200 more to get a model with bt anyway.
[refuses to scroll back further than a page] Anyone got a rec for over-ear headphones in the $75-ish range? Nothing super expensive but also not dirt cheap. My 60 year old dad wants new headphones, so I’m trying to find him some for Christmas.
I like these a lot. Use them hours every day. Right now, even. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sennhe...xauGLYIb3a03upGCP0YaAtbgEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Audio-Technica ATH-M40x The Sennheiser wireless pair around that price range Koss PRO DJ100 AKG K240 Studio GRADO SR80e Koss Porta Pro E-MU wood series 1MORE MK801 Per https://crinacle.com/rankings/headphones/ My first pair was the ATH M50x for 150. Loved them until I upgraded. They stand as the intro/great first pair for a lot of people looking to get into headphones.
https://slickdeals.net/f/14638771-hifiman-he-560-v4-planar-magnetic-headphone-269-free-shipping Hmm, what’s the word on these?
my main setup right now is a schiit magni and moda connected to Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros. would these hifiman cans be better?
Same here, dropped Spotify for Tidal in July of last year....will go back to Spotify if the quality is on par.
Taques NYGator is it worth getting a good/decent pair of headphones if you just listen to music on your phone? Is there something close to audiophile quality? Or would that be wasting money? Currently just have some QC35 Bose TIA
IMO QC35 will sound great on a phone. I am old (my ears suck) though so even though I have good headphones, it really comes down to what sound profile you like. You can absolutely get audiophile quality on a phone though, especially if you get an external DAC like firefly, but not even sure that is necessary for most ears.
so would you say since I already own those there is no point in getting anything else? I just want a good sound.
If you like the way they sound then there is no point. If you want to experiment with different sound profiles then it would make sense. It is really an individual preference. For me the convenience and quality of a Bose or Sony Bluetooth overrides most positives of a wired audiophile headphone. I just don't reach for them even though I like them and in some cases more.
I guess one last question. Are there any real audiophile quality Bluetooth headphones? I guess I mean would spending more get me a “better sound” without upgrading my equipment and just using my phone and the headphones?
Sorry if already discussed before, but I've seen conflicting info from Google searches. I recently got a pair of DT 990s 250 ohm. How necessary is an amp? It's plugged into my mobo which is supposed to be capable of supporting up to 600 ohm. I have to keep volume level 80+ at all times to really hear though, and I'm curious if additional equipment would improve my sound quality.
Top commercially available bluetooth headphones would be the... Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless and the Bose Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700. Not sure if you will get much of a bump from what you have though.
Upgrading from the xm3s to the 4s. 5 won't be out for another year plus unf. Just the size difference is enough to upgrade to the 4s.
Missed these on prime day. Any true wireless bud recommendations under 200? I don’t think I want AirPods Pro at their price point. Mainly for daily podcast or streaming music listening while working, walks, yard work, and such. I’ve seen some reviews on the Beats Studio Buds that stack them up similarly to AirPods Pro, sans a couple of apple-specific features. Any thoughts on those? They’re on sale pretty much everywhere for 99 right now, and it seems like a good value play. Or, are those Sonys legitimately worth nearly 3x the price for that kind of causal use?
Same. Noise cancelling is better than AirPods Pro but not quite as good switching between iPhone/iPad obviously.
Sure thing. Are you looking for ANC with your BT buds? For active noise canceling, I would say the the Sony xm3/4 is worth it at the price point. But, there isn't one great BT bud around 200 and below. Rather there's a handful of really good ones. Tops would be: Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Sony XM3 if you don't mind the pill shaped buds (XM4 was mainly a size/shape, firmware upgrade, resistance rating) XM4 Sony LinkBuds (open backed, meaning you'll hear your environment essentially) Pods OnePlus Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Cambridge Audio Melomania Jabras (not too familiar but people like them)
Taques Emma NYGator what’s a cheap good pair of over the ear headphones (Bluetooth not wired) that I can get my daughters that won’t embarrass them. They want some but I’m not spending a bunch of money when I know they won’t use more than their air pods and won’t be able to tell the difference from a decent pair and an expensive one. TIA
