I'm at the peak level of being busy with school shit and final round of a job interview right now while also working full time. Looking forward to hopefully having the job figured out and my two biggest school projects done in the next two weeks so I have time to make the gym and eating healthy a priority again. I realize that the school and work is just an excuse but I'll be able to somewhat shift priorities
When you guys are meal prepping how long can you keep a meal in the fridge before you eat it? Online videos it seems like people are making 20 meals and keeping them in the fridge but I feel like they will go bad in 3-4 days.
My routine is generally do the chicken in the crockpot on Monday, and that gets me lunch Tues-Wed-Thurs, and dinner on Mon-Tues-Wed-and (sometimes) Thurs. I sometimes try to meet up with friends/do something dif on Thurs because I'm so sick of the same thing. Def no longer than 4 days for me
What I pictured in my post was 7 portions, but I ate a double portion on Sunday when I made it, and might eat a portion for dinner one night. So Thursday or Friday, 4 or 5 days max. I generally don't eat refrigerated leftovers or pre-prepared food older than that, though I bet you could and not have it be an issue.
I know some that meal prep frequently that keep one or two servings and freeze the rest and then rotate it in the next few weeks so you're not eating the same thing every night. Requires enough freezer space though
Move to intermittent fasting for a bit. Breakfast at 10 Lunch at 1 Dinner at 5:30 Workout after Nets out to about a 16 hour fast.
started putting roasted pine nut hummus on a morning bagel instead of cream cheese. fucking delicious. so breakfast is now: breakfast burrito bagel with hummus spread OR banana coffee with 1 scoop peanut butter protein started trying to eat more of my calories in the morning post-workout and less at dinner. So far so goo. This breakfast combo is 930cal 92c/34f/67p so at lunch I do a turkey spaghetti or chicken/rice bowl which are both almost entirely carbs/protein and < 5g fat. Then dinner do chicken/fish + a veggie or salad and protein shake w/ water, so almost all protein. hoping this strategy + 15-20min cardio after every workout is the recipe for #abs
also saw this shared on FB newsfeed. looks fucking great. If I could just eat 1/4 of the sandwich and a side for the meal that would be optimal but it would probably get towards the unhealthy side when I inevitably ate at least 1/2 or 3/4 of it and went into a food coma afterwards http://www.buzzfeed.com/melissaharrison/7-layer-steak-sandwich#.vaemmzDY8
boy was my lunch srs 3C spinach 1C green lentils 1C pineapple 1C raw mushrooms .25C craisins .25C sunflower seeds 2tsbp fuji apple dressing Spoiler
Thought about getting pizza for hangover lazy food. Got up and went to whole foods instead. Brown rice chicken thighs and roasted brussells sprouts from the hot bar instead. #Health
How is the quality of the meat at trader joes? Not having a butcher always made me a little hesitant.
I heard the steak was good but pricey. Never bought meat there. Just random shit. They have good random shit.
Meat sucks, minus the French Cut Pork Chops. Not the greatest but decent. Everything else is kinda of meh.
Been on the healthy train since new year, have lost a total of 16lbs. I do push-ups, sit-ups, and run on the treadmill for 20 mins everyday. Basically cut out most of my sugar intake, cut cola for unsweet tea, snack on almonds, snack on fruit and have a big ass salad for dinner with a lean meat like tuna or chicken. I'm growing tired of the almonds, anyone have a healthy snack idea? I've tired kale chips and those things are disgusting. BTW the best I've felt in a long time.
You could try other nuts beside almonds. Cashews are very tasty, and so are pistachios. If you're trying to do something totally different from nuts, I think a high quality yogurt is great. My overall favorite is Siggis brand: low sugar, 100 calories, and generally ~14g protein per serving. A good "bang for your buck"food if you're watching macros. I sometimes cheat and get cheaper yogurts with similar protein but rely on artificial sweeteners, but I always end up back to Siggis. Plain yogurt is a good way to eliminate added sugars or sweeteners totally, if you like the flavor. Beef jerky is also a filling snack, as long as you monitor the number of servings you consume. Sounds like you already incorporate fresh fruit. Hummus is a good option, and you could pair it with some sort of cracker or bread, or with fresh veggies. Those are kind of my staple snacks that I go to.
I keep this at my desk because it's good and filling if I get hungry, but not so good that I'll snack on it just because I'm bored. It is the GOAT nut mix, IMO.
life hack: dump a 100cal pack of mixed nuts and a box of raisins into a plain yogurt fiber (and admittedly some sugar) from the raisins, but better than artificial shit more protein and good fats from the nuts gain train, population us
Life hack #2 Buy one pound shelled raw (or roasted, half salt if you prefer) pistachios from nuts.com Buy Planter's mixed nuts WITHOUT pistachios (its cheaper) and eat 1/3 or 1/2 of the can as you would Replenish can with pistachios until full and shake to mix/incorporate Good way to get pistachios the level of representation in mixed nuts that they deserve without paying a fortune (nuts from nuts.com come in resealable packs and can last a while)
I'm a pretty bad midnight snacker, I think that's why the nuts are so easy. I'm thinking yogurt would be too much of a hassle and I'd just go for the kids snacks (cookies, candy). I'm pretty burnt out on nuts all together right now, maybe I'll give beef jerky a try. I'll try siggis for my sit down snack, looking for another blue chip snack to go along with the 3 avocado's I eat a week.
I eat 16oz of plain whole milk yogurt everyday with a little bit of fruit puree and some granola. Siggis tastes waaaay too sweet to me, I like the more sour stuff though
You guys know what is a real secret to defined abs? Yoga + Tons of fiber and water every day. = Hello, friends.
Girlfriend is obsessed with these Perfect Bars so I finally gave one a shot. The peanut butter one was unreal good and really pretty good for you, however for nearly $3 a pop at the local Sprouts I'm not sure if I can justify these becoming a regular snack
Found my new go-to for at home drink mixing. Since I'm still on the no beer thing and Jameson/water Vodka/water get old. Fresca. Mix with vodka or tequila with a lime wedge. Oh boy it's nice and crisp. Think it's like 5 calories a can. Diamond in the rough Would say it's my go to altogether but I doubt I ever walk up to a bar and ask for a _____ and fresca
stick with the original citrus. some of the other flavors have sugar. no different than pounding le croix
Yeah, hardest thing for me is no tortillas or cheese because I love Mexican food... ... I have to think coffee does not help me either as I put milk in it... The guys that have completely ripped abs- I admire them and they deserve all of the sex they have with those women
try it. it's tough not to put it in my second cup of coffee I make at work too. started doing sugar free redbulls in lieu of the afternoon coffee cup.
I've come to accept that I'll never have truly ripped abs because I enjoy life too much. That's fine. I'll settle for a 4 pack and a relatively flat stomach over hyper-dieting all day.
You have to get under like 10% body fat for most people to get abs to show. That's a difficult task in and of itself
I am relatively lucky that I have pretty natural definition in my lower abs that creates a nice v shape when I focus on the diet and exercise. Never had a real 6-pack though.
I gave this battle up a long time ago. Every thing I read required pretty much giving up beer, which just isn't going to happen.
same here. girdle of adonis but no upper abs-- like was said, though, it's a trade I'm happy to make at 30 with wine and cheese
I like the Perrier and vodka. If I have the lime cans I throw a lime in. Grapefruit is straight up. Zero calories a can, tastes good to me. I will say though, I really don't enjoy sweets.
Real talk, I can't handle liquor. I get too drunk and rowdy so haven't had a liquor drink in well over a year. Not even shots
Did it for about a year, got out of the routine during football season, but have hardly missed a week in 2016. Now going 2-3x/week since a really cool studio opened in my city. Used to do Bikram, and while I liked it, the repetition got old, and I enjoy yoga while not just having my ass kicked. The new practice is a type of vinyasa. Obviously good for the body, but it does absolute wonders for my mental health (with a little meditation, although admittedly not as much as I need to).
