The new place where 26 was, Five Points Public House, is really good and not that expensive. The oysters are on the high end, but everything else is pretty affordable. The beer list is also great.
Nashville's popular Hattie B's Hot Chicken has found its new home in Birmingham Last month, Hattie B's owners Nick Bishop Sr. and Nick Bishop Jr. revealed their plans to open a restaurant in Birmingham, and today, the Bishops announced that location will be in the 29 Seven development in the Lakeview entertainment district. The Bishops are planning for a February 2016 opening, their publicist, Amy Corley, told AL.com this afternoon. Hattie B's currently has two locations in Nashville and plans to add a third in the Music City's Germantown community. The Birmingham location will be the first outside of Nashville. The 29 Seven development, which includes apartments on the top levels and retail space on the ground floor, is already home to Babalu Tacos & Tapas, a Jimmy John's sandwich shop and a Neighborhood Barre workout studio. Also, the owners of Slice Pizza plan to open Sky Castle Gastrolounge, a restaurant and bar, in the 29 Seven space later this fall. As the name suggests, Hattie B's is renowned for its very spicy fried chicken, which is served with increasing levels of heat, including "hot," "damn hot" and "shut the cluck up!!!" The food and dining website The Daily Meal recently ranked Hattie B's No. 6 on its list of America's 75 Best Fried Chicken Spots. To find out more about Hattie B's Hot Chicken, go here.
I'm sure he's a good guy, but he often comes across as a jackass in the "What's Happening in Mountain Brook" FB group.
you people working downtown they are having a uber rally in front of city hall at 11am https://www.facebook.com/events/126741180998015/ guess you gotta have it in the middle of the week for exposure, but still... hopefully there are 30+ that show up
Clicked this link and immediately saw this exchange. Advocating less drinking at a major university? I bet Michael Adlesperger is a real fun guy.
Paramount has a pretty solid one. So does Saw's Juke Joint, but it can vary tremendously based on who makes it. At 5 and Cosmo's you can make your own.
I had one at Silvertron the other day and wasn't a big fan. I'm going to Paramount on Friday so I might have to give it a try. Do they have a pretty good brunch menu on Sundays?
Saws Moe's BBQ And for standard bar fare style I like On Tap because the wings are huge. Honorable mention goes to Demetri's BBQ but I'm assuming you're asking for opinions on buffalo wings?
Saw's and Moe's for smoked wings no doubt. Classic wings - Billy's, On Tap, Jeffersons (double dipped!), Blackwells Also the chargrilled at hickory tavern are pretty good.
I'm pretty sure they're just open for lunch. I've eaten there c. 1PM on Sunday and just remembered a lunch menu, but that was a couple months ago.
They got pretty inconsistent with their pulled pork and chicken which was a shame. Still love their breakfast, wings and ribs. Their sauce is what I get whenever I buy sauce at the store, still my favorite.
I need to go back to Saws soon. My first time going was right after getting bit in the face by a friends big ass American Bulldog. The sauce burnt my wounds
The Garage has a solid Bloody Mary... Top three wings... For classic wings my go to is Rojo, Moe's for smoked wings, and On tap has pretty good classic wings too.

Council prez said he hopes uber can be operating by end of year Said city could compromise on cars needing 24/7 biz insurance Gonna come down to who gets to do background checks
Their stance on this is pretty ridiculous...this from the article where the city council attempted to compromise with them last year: "Several hours later Tuesday, after reviewing the revisions passed by the Council,Bennett retracted those statements after learning the council refused to strike out the licensing requirement that labels Uber as a taxi company rather than a technology company. That definition would force Uber to comply with several regulations for taxis and vehicles-for-hire." and then today from the BBJ article... "The service has opposed the requirement for UberX drivers to obtain commercial insurance, arguing that its drivers shouldn't need commercial insurance when they aren't transporting customers. That requirement, Uber said, ultimately hindered its business model." What? Maybe I'm crazy but this argument that uber is different than a taxi or that it is somehow just an app and is no way related to transporting people in exchange for money is insane to me. Totally bogus argument and I feel uber is being pretty unreasonable with these demands. I guess other cities just bend over for them and they expect bham to as well? Really hope they work something out but at least the city council has made a few concessions that seem completely reasonable to me. But uber seems completely unwilling to budge on anything at all. All that being said I really want uber so if they city has to get fucked well....fuck em. Just hope I'm not the one in the car with a drunk driver that hasn't had any background check
Uber is trying to circumvent the guest-passenger statute (you can't sue a driver of the car you're riding in for wrecking it unless you either (1) paid for the ride or (2) the driver acted wantonly). They're looking to get paid but still skirt liability which is why commercial insurance is typically required for paid drivers. That's one of the things I talked about months ago when Swim jumped all in my ass about being "anti-Uber." Uber just needs to provide commercial policies for the drivers and take another point or two off of the fares and it will all work out.
Need to get that shit before the US Women's Soccer game, will most likely be a complete shit show if they don't get some shuttles or something.... My thing on the council's responses (possibly up until recently) has been no counter solution to ride sharing. If you aren't going to allow ride sharing at least address the issue of how unbelievably shitty the current taxi situation is.
Nah. I was with a friend and we were going to Saws for lunch. But right before we left her dog decided it'd be a great time to maul my face. Still went to saws. It was delicious aside from the burning in my wounds.
Beautiful dogs. My dog used to go to Oak Mountain State Park with it all the time. I had even been playing with it for the past like 3 hours. Then I leaned down to pet him before we left and he jumped and grabbed my face.
The driver in Tuscaloosa who had a fifth of peach vodka in his floorboard and how much ever weed in the trunk sure as shit didn't help things
I am talking about rain in the sentence.. context clues tells us its the drought map However, i'm more concerned you wouldnt assume that automatically considering who posted it
I assumed it was some sort of nondescript heat wave map... Edit: Damn it was nice outside walking to the truck this morning, cool breeze...
