Is anyone going to Robert Randolph at Alys Stephens Center? I haven't bought a ticket, but I'm really considering it. I've seen him before, and he can play the hell out of a steel guitar.

Shit going to hell in a hand basket and Swim spraying Ebola zombies with a hose to keep them off his yard. I can see it.
No idea on the fees but it's a pretty solid course. Usually not too crowded and in a pretty great spot. Lots of hills and not that much water.
Pine Tree is like $75 for guest fee or so. The course itself is pretty good. Usually in good shape. I haven't played Altadena, but I'm kind of surprised it is still open. I thought it was being sold a while ago.
I'll repeat...this place is dank and the owner and staff are so nice. http://www.al.com/bhammag/index.ssf/2015/07/i_ate_thai_food_from_a_gas_sta.html http://whattoeatinbirmingham.com/blue-pacific-the-hoover-food-mart/
I had a friend tell me about this and she said it was awesome. There are only like 5 tables though and it's starting to get a little too much press to stay inside a gas station.
Dont let the lack of tables dissuade you from eating there. Hasn't been an issue the two times I've been.
BBQ at the Zoo is next Saturday (8/15). $10 for admission, entry into the raffles (Akorn smoker, Yeti, etc.), live music (Cedric Burnside, Ike Stubblefield Trio, and Eric Essix), and shit for kids to do. There's also a beer garden and food available to buy once you're there. You don't even have to be present to win the raffle. You can order tix through the link below, or you can PM me and I'll deliver them to you if you buy 2 or more. http://www.hfcristorey.org/bbq-at-the-zoo-2015.html

and also @WarOnDumb 11m11 minutes ago Forget something? Birmingham budget did not include UAB football funding http://s.al.com/4KTzp2F #FreeUAB On Tuesday, the Birmingham City Council gave itself a raise and approved a budget for the fiscal year, but they left one thing out. The city had promised $500,000 a year for UAB football, but that money is missing from the $400 million in spending the council approved this week. Reached by phone Friday, Birmingham Finance Director Tom Barnett said that the city had not anticipated that it would need to deliver on that promised funding so soon, so it had not been included in the current budget. "We have identified some money, and are going to bring that to the council Monday," he said. According to Barnett, the mayor intends to propose the additional spending at the council's Budget and Finance Committee meeting on Monday afternoon. That promise was a key component of outside funding, pledged by the city and private donors, in order to bring back UAB football. After UAB killed the program last year, Birmingham Mayor William Bell threw his support behind bringing the program back. The council passed a resolution to contribute $2.5 million to the program over five years. The UAB football program still has the mayor's support, the finance director said.
Anybody got a spot on the Cahaba River that you take your dogs to to play around? Looking for kind of a secluded place as my dog doesn't play around others too well. I'm sure I could get out and find somewhere to go but thought I would start here first.
overton road down at the pig. its a big park MB put in a sidewalk and river access and shit. never more than 5-6 cars when i drove by it. youll have people but it wont be crestline park full
also you can go overton maybe 1/4 mile further until you hit RIGHT UNDER 459. there is some access there, park your car on some gravel off the side and walk down though its not like "legit" access as you would find through the park
There is a trail off of Grants Mill, just past Church of Highlands. I used to take my dogs there all the time. I rarely saw other people. Plus, the trail goes down the river a good bit so it is easy to find a spot away from other folks/dogs.
BTW if any of you are bbq'ers, Western has grass fed Hereford brisket for $4.99. It's a ridiculous price, but when packers at Walmart at $5.99... I'm joining the dark side here in AL and am slowly abandoning beef bbq since I could buy two pork shoulders for $18 at the same Western...
So, Autobahn is fun as shit. I just went with two buddies and we all had a blast. The cars are noticeably faster than the first week they were open, too. They're as fast as you want them to go. One thing That surprised me was how much of a workout it is. I was drenched at the end of three races. I highly recommend getting a few friends together and checking it out. My best lap time was 25.360. I actually can't wait to get a few more friends together and go again.

What the hell http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/index.ssf/2015/08/mountain_brook_man_commits_sui.html#incart_river A Mountain Brook man committed suicide on the golf course at Vestavia Country Club on Monday afternoon. Family members called police after receiving a telephone call from the man. They responded to the scene and found his car parked at the club entrance. Officers searched the area, where they found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the one of the fairways, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. Police roped off the area with crime scene tape, but said no foul play is suspected. The man was found at 4:11 p.m., and pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m.
Spoiler his name is Tim Lovelady. Ran a court reporting business and was a member there. I think one of his kids plays golf at Bama. Sad stuff. Didn't know him personally nor do I have any other details.
