hes a 4 term senator and well-known. only way you lose in AL as a GOP is if you arent right wing enough. sessions is one of the most right wing guys in the senate. and good luck running a primary against a guy with probably 10m+ in the bank. terrible decisions all around
Yeah, I've always been registered Republican (since I've been a minority and/or lived in a place with moderate GOP candidates), but this cycle is probably going to change that. The only reason I haven't done it yet is that the ballots down here for Dems are terrible. They take like 20 minutes to do and I'm just too lazy for that.
Every.single.day.....even if it was great (which it wasnt), you HAVE to mix that shit up....hell, even South Park stopped killing Kenny after awhile...
WJOX announces new sports-talk show to replace Matt and Scot radio show Birmingham sports-talk station WJOX 94.5 FM will debut a new radio show Wednesday hosted by Joe Hunk and Jon Lunceford. Their show, "Jox PrimeTime," will air weekdays from 6 to 8 p.m., and it replaces the "Matt & Scot" show, which was hosted by Matt McClearin and Scot Harrison. WJOX canceled that show, which ran for 3½ years, last week. "It's going to continue to be live and local," David Walls, vice president/market manager for WJOX parent company Cumulus Birmingham, said of the new "Jox PrimeTime" show. "It's going to be a lot of energy." Lunceford, who played on two state championship football teams at Homewood High School and later played under coach Joey Jones at Birmingham Southern-College, has worked in newspaper and radio for about a decade. He produces on-air high school sports coverage for WJOX, and earlier this year, he started the JoxPreps podcast. Hunk, who played college baseball at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, is an 11-year radio veteran who previously worked at WUMP 730 AM (SportsRadio 730 The UMP) before joining WJOX in 2013. He has hosted the Saturday morning show "Jox Gameday" on WJOX for the past 3½ years. Hosts Matt McClearin and Scot Harrison came to Birmingham from Dallas in February 2013. The format of the new show also will allow WJOX to air "NFL Monday Night Football," "NFL Thursday Night Football," "The Nick Saban Show," "The JoxPreps Encore Sports Medicine Scoreboard," "The Jox Players Club" and Major League Baseball's World Series on select nights, Walls said. On those nights, "Jox PrimeTime" will lead into, and be preempted by, those broadcasts, he said. "We felt we missed a lot last year by not airing 'Monday Night Football,' the World Series and a lot of the other major events," Walls said. "This is going to give us the ability to do that." "Jox PrimeTime" will air 6 to 8 p.m. Central time Mondays through Fridays. It also will be available online at joxfm.com and on the WJOX mobile app. http://www.al.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2016/07/wjox_announces_new_sports-talk.html
Also, Golden Flake being purchased by Utz, a company from Pennsylvania. Claiming nothing will change within the company though. They also bought Zapp's a few years ago. If they fuck Sweet Heat up, there will be repercussions.
The Vice President/Market Manager (the guy quoted in the article) has only been at Cumulus/WJOX since the start of the year. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Not an expert on Mobile but last time I was there I went to: OK Bicycle Shop O'Daly's Irish Pub (the back was pretty cool - shared with two other bars) Cafe 615 for brunch - food was good and they had a guy on acoustic I heard to avoid TP Crockmiers at all costs edit: oh and don't get murdered
Sammy's is closest to downtown and has a location in Birmingham too. The one here isn't high class but it's not terrible either. Never been to either but have friends that have been to the bham one a few times.
This lightning storm is nuts. It's been going on for 10 min in the same spot and it's so consistent with no thunder. What the hell is happening Swim Cantore ?
Heat lightning doesnt exist. You are seeing it from a long ways away and sound just not getting to you. We got .1 last night and .4 on tues.
Yeah I know, it was just crazy how consistent it was. I guess that storm was over Helena or something, but damn if there weren't three strikes, then a 10 second pause, then three strikes, ten second pause, etc. for a good 20 minutes. And all in the same spots. Aliens man. Fuckin aliens.
Think he wound up just renting some house out in Greystone. But I actually think I once heard he didn't even have to pay and that the owner let him stay there for free since he is MJ. No source for either of those statements, just what I recall people saying back then.
Edit: Barves was right http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/04/20_years_ago_michael_jordan_ca.html Jordan's Greystone Home When the season started, Jordan stayed in a hotel room at The Wynfrey. A big local question: Where would he live the rest of the season? Jordan rented a house at Greystone with a private golf course. The privately- secured, five-bedroom, four-bath home cost an estimated $3,000 to $5,000 per month. Local real estate agent Mary Milton helped locate the home.
fyi, uber is up for their 6 month review -- http://www.al.com/news/birmingham/i...am_officials_want_to_k.html#incart_river_home Is Uber working for you? The Birmingham City Council wants to know. The City Council plans to review how Uber is performing six months after its launch at its Tuesday, July 26 meeting. The meeting is set for 9:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall (710 N. 20th St.). Anyone who wants to share their comments and any ideas for changes should email them to the city prior to the meeting. Emails can be sent to [email protected] or reach out to your councilor directly at 254-2294 or by clicking here. The ridesharing service officially launched in Birmingham on Dec. 29 with 41 drivers. On Friday morning, April Odom, a spokesperson for the mayor's office, didn't immediately have the current amount of Uber drivers. The city of Birmingham granted the Uber its business license on Dec. 28. As part of the negotiations, the city set an individual licensing requirement, which mandated that anyone who wants to be an Uber driver must also apply for a license with the city of Birmingham. That costs $30 annually, and the annual fee for drivers who work for existing services like taxi companies will also drop from $60 to $30. Uber reached an agreement with the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport in April for both pick-up and drop-off.
Brewery in a hip part of Birmingham pretty close to Downtown. I'd feel comfortable saying everyone in this thread has been there at least a couple times. Have a big open area out back where they hold concerts from time to time. The venue is a lot better than the beer they make IMO.
My friend is having his wedding there and his brother owns it, or a portion of the brewery. Looking forward to the wedding except it's the Georgia weekend.
For some color: Not sure if you're aware but they got into a huge fight a year or so ago and there was a lawsuit filed by one against the other. Something along the lines of they'd agreed to split ownership/profits but that wasn't actually happening. One brother just kind of agreed to that but didn't have it in writing and the other one was kinda trying to fuck him over or something. Or at least that's what I recall from the limited details I heard a while back. Know they got it all worked out though. Someone with more intimate knowledge of the situation can correct me where I'm wrong.
I liked YourPie fine when I lived in Athens but I can't imagine choosing it over plenty of other good pizza options already in town
