A midday bike tour through Birmingham in the middle of August isn't exactly my idea of a good time. I understand what they were trying to go for but in actuality I don't know that it was a good decision.
'our tour will start in Kelly Ingram park where we will learn about the horrible atrocities committed against minorities in this city and witness the dozens of homeless schizophrenics that gather there during the day. from there we will pedal a few miles in the midday heat to check out all the jobless twenty-somethings playing Pokémon Go in railroad park...'
It was fun man, super crowded. I like that place a lot, very laid back. Started getting a little dancey in the 2nd set.
One person is dead after an 18-wheeler crashed through the Interstate 65 guardrail near University Boulevard and dropped to the roadway below. Birmingham police and firefighters responded to the scene about 1:20 p.m. The tractor-trailer dropped to the street below, and is spilling fuel, said Birmingham Fire and Rescue Capt. Bryan Harrell. It wasn't immediately clear whether there were any injuries. A similar accident happened in Feb. 23 when a truck hit the same guardrail. The crash happened in the southbound lane at the University Boulevard exit, closing the roadway in both directions because of the scattered debris. On June 14, another 18-wheeler went through the guardrail and dropped to University below.
Lauren Walsh @LaurenWalshTV 23m23 minutes agoMontgomery, AL BREAKING: Alabama Senate passes Governor Robert Bentley's lottery bill 21-12. It moves to House.
Observed a Birmingham police officer aggressively pull into the chevron by Lakeview. Officer heads straight to ice cream cooler, pulls out a drumstick, leans up on the chip display and mean mugs me from my 9 o'clock about 3 feet away....cop takes three bites out of the drumstick, flips that shit in the trashcan...didn't pay for shit, walked out...for some reason that struck me as hilarious...didn't even want the drumstick, just wanted to take a bite and throw it away...hilarious...

*Beyond that, there is little agreement in global models concerning the long term destination. The 12Z GFS (American) model basically dissipates the system around the Bahamas, with no threat to the U.S. However, the 12Z ECMWF (European) model moves it across the Florida Peninsula, and into the Gulf of Mexico, with a landfall near Gulf Shores next Tuesday night. Understand that run of the Euro is an outlier; taking the ensemble approach, a more likely track is over South Florida, with a turn to the north well east of Alabama. --

I can't believe jox got rid of Matt and Scott for this garbage. I feel like even the sound equipment is worse.
A couple people I work with know him very well and are really high on him. Sounds like a good dude, but my perception is that he might be a bit of a lightweight (i.e. Tony Gray in The Wire). Here what was my co-worker texted me when I asked her for specifics on why she likes him: Experienced in working with city, very strong ideas for education and improving Bham city schools - which he can speak to well because he's the Bham board of education president. He really wants to put focus back on bettering Bham's 99 neighborhoods, not just city center. Also - he's not a politician. He's not using this as a starting point for a career in politics. He just genuinely thinks he could do it better than how it's currently being done...and I believe him.
What is the current state of the Birmingham City Schools under his leadership? What was it before he took over? I know some people say it's one of the most corrupt organizations in Birmingham but I don't personally know anything about it.
Woodfin is a good guy. He wants to help the little guy, has smarts, and is genuine without being unable to compromise. Vote for him.
We were terrible when I went there. Like, 2 win terrible. I watched Hoover score 84 points on us before halftime once. It was fun.
