I saw Cam Newtons brother goes there. I've been meaning to go to a game since I moved in but always seemed to find better options for a Friday night.

Can't find the exact quote, but when Rocco transferred 2 years ago he mentioned something about Virginia being a "very bad situation." We've had seven QB transfers in the past three years and haven't had a clear starting QB since Schaub. Plenty of talent but none of it has developed at all. Lambert has all the tools to be the best QB on the roster and was second on the depth chart coming out of the spring, many speculated as motivation for him.

He has all the tools of an NFL QB but has played poorly because the constant threat of being yanked has caused him to check down and second guess throws (just my opinion). Our football program is an absolute disaster under London. I don't blame a single one of those kids who transfers out. I'm a lifelong Virginia fan and I wouldn't be playing for London if I had any other options.

Atlanta Bridgescape Competition's Winners Look Like this

Atlanta Bridgescape Competition, a creative contest to overhaul key bridges in Midtown (10th Street) and downtown (Courtland Street/Ralph McGill Boulevard). A panel of experts that included reps from Perkins + Will, Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects and even the Piedmont Park Conservancy (for their landscape expertise) blindly judged five finalists, who were required to prove that their designs could be accomplished for $3 million or less. Launched earlier this year, the competition is part of a larger, phased effort to enhance all five miles of The Connector through the heart of Atlanta. Officials say construction on the first phase of bridge enhancements — new dramatic arches, lighting, landscaping and signage on the Connector's two Peachtree Street bridges — will begin this year. After the jump, see the winning designs and tip your hat to the triumphant firms.

Had a feeling the "organic canopy" 10th street one was a little too ambitious.

LA will get if if they get the stadium situated in time. Miami only gets it unless they have a new stadium. Otherwise New Orleans.

I feel good about Atlanta getting 2019. Blank is tight with Rog and the right owners.

Miami is renovating their stadium right now. Phase II of it will be done next summer. So it would time nicely with the SB announcement.

NFL rewards new stadiums so Atlanta and Miami will get the nods. Its just the pattern at this point. No new staidums? Then theyll go back to tried and true NO, Tampa, etc

Fellini’s/ La Fonda founders plan three restaurants in East Lake
    May 22, 2015, 10:50am EDT

The corners of Second Avenue and Hosea Williams Drive in East Lake will soon be home to new restaurant concepts from the owners of Fellini’s Pizza and La Fonda Latina.

The East Lake Foundation and CF Foundation Inc. reported Fellini’s and La Fonda owners Mike Nelson and Clay Harper with partners Jay Martin and Nathan Bolster bought the land at the four corners and plan “multiple restaurant concepts’ on the sites. This includes converting an old gas station on the northwest corner into The Greater Good BBQ, a fast-casual family-friendly restaurant. On the Southeast corner, the restaurateurs will modify an existing building for two new restaurant concepts with outdoor seating and later add a third new small restaurant.

Rick Bent, VP Real Estate and Development, CF Foundation, Inc. “This investment will provide East Lake residents with a much needed destination for good, affordable, interesting food and drink.”

Nelson and Harper, who opened their first Fellini’s on Peachtree Street in Buckhead in 1983, currently run seven Fellini’s, five La Fondas and two Greater Good BBQs in metro Atlanta.

Tim Holdroyd of City Realty represented CF Foundation Inc. on the deal.

    ---

Currently looking at moving to East Lake, what are the threads thoughts on Greater Good?

has anyone used a realtor to find a rental? I'm wondering how the payment works, is it on me or the landlord?

I used one last year but my company handled the whole payment aspect.

I've now submitted two rental applications and come up short on both and I'm starting to get pissed off.

This was 7 or so years ago when I first moved to ATL out of college we used a realtor to find us a house and the landlord paid the realtor. Think they realtor was paid for one month's rent. Easiest $1500 the guy made as he took us to 5-6 places one day and then made sure the lease on the place was right.

    Update:

Apparently realtors get paid a commission by the landlord on properties listed by another agent or where the landlord explicitly states they will pay a commission to a realtor

The landlord has the right to not pay a commission, in which case the realtor would work something out with the renter

Wound up delayed an hour, then grounded in the place in Grand Rapids for 90 minutes, and then had to sit on the runway in Atlanta for another hour waiting for my gate. All told my 7:30 arrival was pushed back to 11 and I wound up at Metro Diner. Pretty good corned beef reuben for what looked like a super shady place.

Is Cobb County Rife with Millennial Discrimination?
Tuesday, May 26, 2015, by Josh Green
    [IMG]
[Approximate location of 280 millennial dens. Base image: Google Maps]

Could it be possible that Cobb County residents and officials are determined to stiff-arm the one demographic the rest of the world is coveting right now? Details from a recent Board of Commissioners meeting would suggest that millennials — that generation of well-educated, well-connected income disposers — arepersona non grata in the likes of Cobb. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, a barely OTP proposal by Marietta-based Lynwood Development Group is in serious jeopardy because the six-story building would house 280 rental units. Slated for the intersection of Windy Ridge Parkway and Powers Ferry Road, the development would also include 8,000 square feet of retail, and judging by the way the rental units are referred to as "condominiums" in rezoning paperwork, you'd think they'd qualify as nice. Nonetheless, commissioners recently delayed a vote on the land's rezoning because some were hung up on the rental aspect, and the developer's attorney said it's still impossible to gain financing for condos. "Please vote all units for sale and say no to rentals," one nearby resident told commissioners. "Please support us in having neighbors as homeowners who care as deeply as we do about building a home, building a community they can invest in for the long haul."

The developer's attorney assured commissioners that none of the units would be three-bedrooms, and thus would be unlikely to overburden schools. The target market for the "condos," the attorney added, would be millennials, which might have been a bad word choice. One man who lives across the street at Horizon at Wildwood condos spoke in support of the apartments and dropped a D-bomb on his neighbors. "Some seem to discriminate against these millennials and tell them that it's OK to work in (the area), but they've got to go back at night and commute to Buckhead or to Midtown," the resident said, according to the newspaper.

At one point, Commissioner Bot Ott, who represents that particular area, said flatly that he would not support the development if it would include rentals — a notion that was backed by Commission Chairman Tim Lee, who's gained infamy for questionable deals involving the departing Atlanta Braves and recent upgrades to his office.

Eventually, commissioners agreed to table their rezoning decision until they could write some stipulations into the deal that would require the developer to flip the apartments to condos after a certain period of time. The county's attorney, however, seemed pessimistic, adding that such arrangements are "difficult to enforce."
