get a bar reservation at Bourbon & Branch. It's a speakeasy and one of my favorite bars anywhere. Haven't been to the double inside (Wilson & Wilson) which is a different vibe, but had plenty of fun in B& B. Have to make a reservation, they send you a password that you use at the door, and they show you to your table. Drinks are expensive but AMAZING.
Minute mark callouts for the girls you fraternized with? Also, were all the chicks in video met on trip? Nice work man.
The girl riding the bikes and making the faces at the end is a friend, hiked to MP with her last year, her and her bro live in Rio. Really good people, showed me a great time. Most everybody else I just met while down there. Fraternizations: -The girl at the very end dancing and singing to the camera, from Brazil -Girl at 2:00, and flipping the bird at 3:40, is from Australia, had some fun in BA -hooked up with the girl at 5:00 kicking the soccer ball, and at 6:35 when I throw the camera up, she's from Canada but lives in Norway. Couldn't seal the deal, though -The smoking hot Irish girl is at 9:17
There are a few New Zealand write-ups itt, and I've given some thoughts of my experience there. Looks like we were discussing reccos at page 66... http://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/the-new-travel-thread.120242/page-66 Spend lots of time in Queenstown, because it is quite possible the greatest place on Earth. Heard Wellington was great as well, but haven't been there. Sydney to me was ho-hum. Fun, but nothing special. Haven't been to Melbourne, but from what I know, I think I'd like it much better.
Friend heading to Moscow on Saturday, but only really has like 2 days of free time. Anyone know much about Moscow? It's a chick, and the only people I know there are chicks, so I didn't even ask them. That doesn't make much sense.... Spoiler: What I meant Chick I used to bang prior to GF is heading to Moscow on Saturday, but only really has like 2 days of free time. Anyone know much about Moscow? I only know another girl I've banged that lives there, so I didn't ask her.
At a wedding in Riverside, CA this weekend. Decided to drive over and check out Venice Beach for the day. Really, really cool area
Still putting together where I would like to go with the gf. Right now we are looking at Paris, Rome, Prague, and Krakow, but she hit me with the "I may want to see a cool beach city, but it has to have things to do outside of just laying on the beach". I have been to Hvar so I am considering Dubrovnik as there appears to be a decent amount of things to do outside of hanging out on the water. We would swap Krakow out (She is fixated on Paris and Rome). What are everyones opinions on this move or is there a cool city on the water that may be better?
Never been but I've heard great things about Croatia, specifically Spit (or Split, I don't know what it's called).
I liked Split but unless you include a day trip to Krka or Plitvice I wouldn't say it's worth it with so many other options out there
Split's not a top city in Croatia, imo. I didnt like it. Would recommend Novalja, Zadar, Dubrovnik, and of course Hvar way before that. But Plitvice is pretty damn incredible
I liked Split but my only time there was for ULTRA Europe and Yacht Week. Didn't do too much exploring. Was in full rage mode
I liked the park on the west side a lot. you can definitely spend a day exploring the shopping. I wouldn't say it's a bad choice, but nothing special. didn't have a single memorable meal in Split and outside of Plitvice, Ultra or easy ferries to other places there was nothing that would ever bring me back
the water won't be that warm but San Sebastian was pretty cool if you go for 2-3 days. some elite dining options and a cool little town. not many activities though lisbon's on the water but I wouldn't pick it. that's all I have beach-wise in my experience
Way too far for a day trip, I was suggesting that for if you dropped Krakow for a beach/coast destination.
Split is the gateway to Hvar, which is favorite among the members of this thread (Rightfully so). Don't feel too bad
Mallorca... If Spain is really a consideration. Most people I know who have lived/spent significant time in Spain love that one the most. Portugal has some great beaches on the south coast as well... Quick research said Albufeira had a great nightlife and amazing beaches -- worth looking into if Portugal is a thought, but of course Lagos is the most famous. I'd also be remiss not to mention Porto which is a city with a beach, and coincidentally one of my favorite in Europe. If not Spain and want to stick to Eastern Europe, you got some good beaches in Montenegro and Albania -- 2 places I'd go above Dubrov probably. Albania has been on my list for some time now, because of articles like this one (http://www.heartmybackpack.com/blog/travel-albania-beach/), and also seen it touted as the next Croatia -- hitting it up before it goes mainstream would be cool. Bulgaria is another country with a beach that gets good reviews, Sunny Beach the most famous, but that might be a little bit adventurous. San Sebastian in France is a backpacker favorite, but I haven't been. Here's another list that I like (sans Dubrov) about backpacking: http://thebesttravelplaces.com/best-places-to-backpack/ Unrelated Sidenote... As I've mentioned before I also want to go to Mostar. Place looks beautiful in pics. You could also jump off the bridge. Spoiler: This looks fun
Why is there videos of how to jump and survive but then when it comes to cool jumps by the pros, it's all still pics? Embarrassing
Picked up a $500 voucher for taking a cab two hours to Dulles instead of the flight today, cab driver said they've been handing them out left and right this week. Don't really understand it as there ended up being 3 people at the gate after it closed that didn't make it on, so must have just been weight? Couldn't have been oversold.
so you pocket the difference between the fare and $500? If so, what was that? I dont take cabs enough to feel confident that I could get 2 hours away for under $500. eff cab companies.
Yea I wouldn't either. Took a cab in Amherst, MA a couple weekends ago to a wedding. Uber was surging 3-4x on a $16-21 fare so I figured I could do better. Very wrong. Fucking cab company charged $.50 per 1/8 of a mile. And we were picked up in a ghetto minivan that did not have working A/C and all of the check engine lights were on. Ended up being $53.00. Driver didn't even bother asking for a tip and just ran my card for that. Should've just gone with the surging Uber (which stopped surging shortly after beginning our cab ride ).
Friend and I both got $500 each. And a $300 cab voucher to use with the company they partner with at that airport. Must have a fixed rate to the big airports nearby. I wasn't in a time crunch so it was a no brainer, except the cab was kind of shitty.
Where's everyone looking to travel over NYE? My friends from HS and I are looking to go somewhere warm, affordable, and no frills. Somewhere adventurous, possibly a good setting to enjoy some psychedelics. We are looking at places like Central America/Costa Rica, possibly Thailand if the flights are cheap enough, etc. any suggestions? Can also be domestic but has to involve beaches and not be too crowded
Thailand is a thought at the moment. Right, ohhaithur ? I'm also a lot more amped about it now that the GF has moved to Costa Rica and we've officially cut ties so long as there's distance.
Yup, Thailand is the play. I have a late flight from BKK back on the first so either Bangkok for NYE or somewhere a quick trip away like phucket, chiang mai, etc... What are you thinking gin?
I was thinking of heading back to Rio, but almost every flight I see is north of $1,500. Too expensive for my blood, and I dont have the points for that. If you could swing Thailand, highly recommend. Cuba is the leader in the clubhouse at the moment
