that kiss was ridiculous my enjoyment of the show has waned over the course of the season, so it's good we've gotten to the end of the tunnel here
mostly in the same boat. Thought this episode was going to be much more revelatory/arresting. Feels like they have a ton to pack in next week.
You must've missed episode where the investigator was slow and methodical in the apartment, annoying the hell out of Chondra.
So many ridiculous things in this show. Interested to see how it ends but won't be disappointed when it's over.
The scene with Dr. Katz in court was one of the best of the series so far The kiss scene was awful but overall I liked the episode. Still digging the show but feel like the ending may be rushed even with the extended time.
I'm still enjoying it, but it lead the viewer down a path episode 1 where it seemed like it was going to be a realistic crime drama and it has veered from that IMO. I do think that the back and forth between the in trial scenes and real world scenes are cool. That takes away from the viewers timeline. You don't really know what day it is. That helps ease the pain of "they're just now looking at the stepdad?" The cop moving the inhaler is interesting. Sort of fucks up the credibility of the investigation. Also makes it appear like he views the kid as a witness oppose to a suspect for a second.
it's these types of productions that make HBO so great. I don't care if they nail it perfectly but the willingness to greenlight it and let it get a little weird is nice in this day and age.
I'm enjoying the show. I also enjoyed True Detective part 2. That said, this series makes True Detective season 2 look like True Detective season 1.
Would have been much better if filmed 40 years ago. Man, that lawyer lady looked a hell of a lot different back in the day.
That's her in the pic I posted above with Charles Grodin. Been a rough 40 years for sure. Not sure what happened, but she was cute back then.
Compared to now at least. Pic with Grodin looks good to me. Too much surgery and smoking since then tho. And she is pushing 70.
I'll withhold final judgment until I see the finale, but my interest has waned the past three episodes. Doesn't feel like the same show I watched the first four episodes and I'm ready for it to be over. I think 6 episodes might have worked better, but if the finale is amazing I might change my tune.
Only ridiculous thing was the kiss. Other than that it has been pretty believable. Not sure what you find outrageous.
Nasir has now had a hand in three murders in prison and likely had nothing to do with the one he's on trial with. I think a bunch of the jail stuff is beyond fucking ridiculous. I get he has to mesh into that life. But the tats, the murders its just way too much. This kid was a fucking pussy going into jail and now he's the right hand man to a don. So a 2nd body is now found with nearly identical type of stabbing death. So essentially we have a mass murderer on the streets? That probably means the step dad is not the killer. I think its clear Nasir isn't the killer. Glad this show is over next week. It had me hooked but as its progressed the wheels have fallen off a touch.
Nothing he has done is ridiculous for someone looking at life. Moreover we've learned Naz had wicked rage issues. Him allowing that to cone out makes perfect sense. The show being 8 weeks long instead of 5 years has accelerated his metamorphosis but it is truly believable.
Wicked rage issues? He's a fucking pussy. Look how he handled the two dudes in the cab. His mean streak was pushing a kid down the stairs and throwing a soda can. Let's not pretend like he has this inner gangster that is in full bloom now that he has spent a year in jail. And he's just hitting his trail... the tatts and helping people get got make no sense when he still has no clue how things will unfold. And from my perspective it looks like his team is dismantling the state's case so he should be encouraged he could be getting off. The guy who threw acid on him The kid who's mom was bring the crack in The guy who had his neck sliced open to end the show
This is where I'm at as well. Question for the people in this boat: what would need to happen in the finale for you to flip back to loving/liking the show a lot? I feel like most people were all-in early on. A lot of people are slowly becoming more meh to it. can you think of a scenario for the finale that just blows you away or is that too much imagination involved in coming up with an answer? Cat is the killer or bust for me
Yeah man pushing someone down the stairs and throwing a full can of soda at someone's head is not an indication of rage whatsoever. The guy who threw acid on him was in the ICU not dead. The kid killed himself so not murder. He played a part in one murder. If you've never been in jail it is difficult to understand how completely and quickly you have to change to survive.
I feel Farva level douche in here because I'm always giving hot takes but.... you hear about attorneys and clients falling in love often. Especially women that like to help troubled men. That scene didn't surprise me at all.
ha me? lol. well, I guess it was risky timing. they def look like they could be a great couple after his appeal goes through in season 2.
I thought it was pretty clear it was going to happen. Especially when she tried to hug his mother in the bathroom. That was showing her level of emotional investment
Would take some serious mental gymnastics to think Nas is absolutely not involved in the dome-givers murder. No, he didn't physically cut him, but he absolutely put in motion the series of events that lead to his death. Watching the act itself, being so close to Freddy and the other guy looking at Nas/warning him not to say anything, and then watching them again (where he locked eyes with both of them) as they went to perform the act again. You can argue how attenuated this relationship is, or how much Nas contributed, but it's very fair to say he "played a part" I also think it's kind of lazy to give the show a pass on Nas's rapid transformation by simply saying "that's prison life, you don't know how it is." To say he's night and day from the 1st episode to 7th would be an understatement. -Tattooing on your knuckles, which can still be viewed in open court, is fucking retarded. I've yet to hear any logical argument to the contrary other than "that's prison life." He's in trial, he's not convicted/sentenced yet. -Smoking crack (regularly, now) is also beyond dumb---but I could've understood that from the peer pressure standpoint, and wanting to keep Freddy happy. I wouldn't have completely enjoyed/agreed with that, but it's somewhat believable. -Him, in general, just turning into such a hardass, is hard for me to take. Of course, the response is "that's just prison, you wouldn't understand"---well, a lot of the audience, I'd guess, hasn't spend much time in a high-security prison like Rikers---maybe spending a little time on the transformation, maybe have Freddy indoctrinate him to toughen up/get hard. In the first few episodes, we have this timid guy, cried and tried to run when caught by the cops at headquarters, innocent and confused when being interrogated prior to Rikers, even his interactions with acid-throwing dude he was an apprehensive "kid." Now he's beating the shit outta that same guy, intimidating witnesses, insinuating to the mother to hurry up and get the crack out of her snatch, smoking crack by himself, hustling cell phone usage, etc. I get that maybe he would've eventually become that hardened convict, but how it's happened, with little to no explanation, has been dumb, to me. I realize they only have 8 episodes, but that doesn't just give the show a pass---if they know they only have 8 episodes, maybe they shouldn't have planned such a rapid transformation. --- Further, the trial/legal aspect of the show has been pretty lazy/unrealistic. Not interviewing/deposing ANY witnesses prior to trial, not following up where the girl lives/her family relationship until trial has begun (or really following up on ANY leads), skipping jury selection (arguably the most important part of trial)---they just skipped to the trial overnight. Another thing---Where is Stone getting all this free time to investigate/follow-up on leads while trial is going on? He's out on the street, at the gym, etc. If you're in the middle of a murder trial, I'd imagine you're burning the midnight oil, and not out doing leisurely activities. At the Courtroom around 8, not leaving until 5-6, and then in the office until nighttime hours. I'll watch, because I've been on board for 7 episodes, but like others have said, my interest the last few episodes has wained.
The kid killed himself. How is that a "murder"? Naz not saying shit to Omar before is 100% believable . His conscience getting the better of him after the fact is also not unreasonable. You guys act like the Kat Omar killed was an innocent bystander. Like the guys Naz fought with in school this was a person who had harmed someone.
This was my issue but how much can they watch with an attorney and her client? 941Gator OopsPowSurprise ?
