g4 is extremely loud for a phone. I don't have one but a buddy of mine does and has a good speaker on it for a phone. Not sure if that's what you're meaning but past that most phones are pretty much the same. It also has expandable memory if you're wanting to put a lot of music on it and a removable battery which could come in handy playing music all day.

I guess I was hoping there was a phone with a better amp or more power that would help my headphones sound better.

They likely all use the same components. I'm not sure if that's included in the SOC or not. Your best bet is to make sure you're using headphones with low impedance so phones can drive them well.

I blew the tower speakers on my parents wakeboard boat in college by lining in my phone to one of those hooked up directly to the amp. Worth it. #GNAR

Very excited for the next couple of months. Rumor has it the new Note will drop in August, as well as the new Moto X. Rumors showing Moto X will come in two sizes, and potentially offer a more rugged Moto X Sport.

Nice, a new 5 inch moto X would be killer. Although I would likely stay with the new Nexus anyways if it's still priced < $400.

Couple devices in the FCC funnel right now

Also, pretty disappointed all us carriers are moving away from subsidies, but I understand why.

I just hope the yota phones, Oneplus, fringe Asian manufacturers etc can be enough of a threat to move the needle a bit back

Sucks that it might not have micro a SD slot nor removable battery. The 4 might be my last Note.

Yeah I won't go with the 5 either if there's no micro SD slot. I don't care about the battery much but the no micro SD slot is a killer. I use three different cards in my current note. On another note though my battery in the last week went from being amazing and easily lasting all day to being dead by lunch if I forget to plug it in. Guess I need to download an app and figure out what's causing it. Doubt my battery fell off that fast on its own.

Eh, depends what you use it for. Hopefully you only put media on it in which case you would never notice. I would keep apps on the internal memory for more than one reason, but it should load faster. I don't actually know how often that difference is even noticeable though.

Quick question one of you all might have run into. My work's firewall is blocking Pushbullet access. I assume there is no easy work around but wanted to ask anyway.

I don't see any port options so I can't image it would be easy. That's terrible though, notifications at work without keeping my phone out is one of the best parts.

I am so torn between the G4, S6 and iphone 6.

Someone guide me. I love a strong (especially removable) battery more than I care about anything else really so G4 seems the play.

I know it has been asked and answered a million times but what app can i use to control the consumption of my battery?

I still find the G2 to be an amazing device. I can't imagine how rad the G4 is

I an coming up on two years with it and the battery life is still fantastic. It runs smooth as the day I got it

I'm just kind of worried about this Android security issue that has now come to light

Eh, I'd imagine some of the quicker carriers have it patched already, but AT&T is horribly slow so I'd doubt they have.

Not like there's anything users can do for now. I'm telling my Android users just so they are aware.

Verizon isn't one of the quicker carriers, are they?

So that's potentially hundreds of millions of folks exposed right? Sounds terrifying to me

Depends. Google implements and tests the patch. They they give it to the phone manufacturers like Samsung who incorporate it into their customized version of the OS and go through testing. They likely have a different build for each model of phone they support so it's not a quick process. Then it goes to the carriers who check it with their customizations.

Can take six months or more.

Disclaimer, I haven't read a thing about this vulnerability so this might not apply. However it could be fixed through Google Play Services which could be pushed out to all Android users in a matter of days.

That's not how it works. Carries don't make patches for phones, they just add a month process to testing of the builds.

Also shouldn't this just need a fix in hangouts and not an OTA? They don't link to the actual patches on the zimperium page so I don't know why it's an AOSP change.

The post says that Google acknowledged it and committed the patch to internal branches within days: http://blog.zimperium.com/experts-found-a-unicorn-in-the-heart-of-android/
Which seems to imply an AOSP fix.

I suppose that's right, carriers push updates sometimes but only for their settings. I know we've talked to AT&T in the past and they've told us their process for new builds is generally six months. Not sure on the other carriers but we've seen faster response from Sprint.

I still don't know if Samsung fixed the Swift hack from earlier this year. SAFE and KNOX devices are the only Androids we allow, so that was annoying.
