Anyone catch something about an N beta being released today? Is that supposed to be a more stable version of the developer preview that's already out?
They said it was ready to use on your "main phone". I read something last week about them hosting images as well so you wouldn't have to risk losing all your data if you did try the beta. android.com/beta
Really wish they'd time I/O better with what they introduce. Was a single thing they introduced ready for use? I know it's a developer conference, but is also the biggest stage Google has for introducing new products/technologies. I mean at least have Allo ready in the Play Store.
I feel like you could say this about almost all of these keynotes now. Everyone keeps recycling the same old crap with little tweaks thrown in here and there. The "wow" factor with smartphones has been gone for a while.
I'm not sure the market exists for a killer android tablet, at least not enough to dedicate the developers to making it happen.
Only two things I really notice with N right away is the lack of 10 minute app upgrade screen (hooray) and the split screen apps. Both very nice. Also I don't think this was mentioned yet but this was really the biggest surprise for me announced today: http://techcrunch.com/2016/05/18/go...to-native-apps-with-instant-apps-for-android/ It's fucking genius. It's like streaming apps, no install or permanent memory usage.
For those on the fence on N - good work doesn't work with it for those who use it for business email.
Why wouldn't one exist? You don't think consumers of flagship level phones could get on board with a nice android tablet?
That and close to causing the singularity/skynet "Our learning arms can now pick up flower pots and wow that quickly evolved to take out the carotid artery!"
I put N on my backup phone (N6) and my tablet (N9) but am not loading it on my daily driver (N5X) Apps that haven't and maybe still don't work (based on my usage) Amazon app (seems to be fixed with todays N OTA) Android Pay (obviously, not intended to work with pre release releases) Fox Sports Go Feedly (also, seems to be fixed today) Gmail NBCSN
I've got N on my daily driver (6p), which I'm fine with instability right now. MLB At Bat doesn't work for me but I don't typically watch on my phone. I'm guessing most video apps will be screwed up.
Well shit, I put N on my 6p but no way I can do without FSgo and MLB.tv. May have to switch back in a week or so if they aren't fixed.
I haven't played with it a ton yet but there's some good stuff here, more small tweaks in apps that I think will be great in a few months. The background for Google keyboard is great and been missing for a while. Best keyboard on Android imo and added some personalization. The quick settings are great and really enjoyable to use. That feels weird to say haha. Multi window works awesome even right now, can't wait to see them get it working with more apps. Hey! Stock Android can separate wallpapers into lock screen and home screen hahaha The double tapping of the recent key works great and can quick switch between apps. I can see myself using that in the future for sure All in all the most exciting feature for me as a bit of a power user is the fact that doze and svelte will work when the screen is off in my pocket rather than just sitting on my desk. I am certain it's not going to be great off the bat but I'm really pumped to see how much time I can add between throwing my phone on the charger.
haven't tried since yesterday's update, but force closed for the entirety of the first N update. I had to use the gmail mobile website (meh!)
Very much so. However I haven't used SwiftKey in years so maybe I'll try again and then rerespond haha.
I do. I liked Swiftkey, but the inability to stop it from predicting the depraved things that I type was a deal breaker for me.
Holy shit at Doze/Svelte in N. I didn't expect it to be as good as its been today. Took off charger at 8am and while I haven't been on it a ton I have been on the phone and I keep brightness at 100. At 1:30 I'm still at 91%.
Yeah after others said it was working, I went ahead and updated. Haven't had any problems with Gmail or Outlook exchange
They released the compatible app for Marshmallow right after it officially rolled out. Just not during the betas or tests. Side note: earlier in the year the at bat app wasn't checking for fake locations. I could hide behind a fake GPS and VPN and watch all the in market games I could want. They have since fixed this :(. Thank god I have a TiBu of the old apk.
One week in w/ the HTC 10 and my major takeaways are 1) quickcharge 3 is awesome and 2) hey neat, a decent camera in an HTC device
My phone is finally fucked. What's the best larger android phone out right now? My note is not doing well at all.
