The ads on food blogs were making me lose my find. Found something on reddit that most people probably already know, but you can get adblock on chrome by setting the private dns to dns.adguard.com in the internet settings
Anybody use Google Play Music? Its going away and have to switch to YouTube. I love Play Music and I'm not looking fwd to it. Taking a grumpy old man stance on it.
I"m a launch customer (paying $8.99 I think, inclusive of YouTube Premium) so I'm stubborn about moving away from it. I think features are being added at a weekly basis to YouTube Music to give it the same features. My understanding is that when Google Play is shutdown, all features will have been ported/built into YTM, so we shouldn't be missing anything when we transition.
I used Google and liked it, but then moved to Amazon, but now that I'm moving away from Alexa more into Google/Nest I need to change music platforms again. Might go back to Google/Youtube or might just go Spotify.
I use Google Play Music alot, and I've already transferred my collection over to YouTube Music. However, I don't like the functionality of YouTube Music yet. FedEx says mine will be delivered by EOD tomorrow. I don't believe them.
EOD today for me, git gud. Also, Spotify. Used to use Google Music a lot but just became a pain to keep up with two libraries and I got the Hulu/Spotify deal a while back
I don't see anything on the FedEx tracking page that says one way or the other edit: Was going to say I'll know later today, but we have an Amazon Hub/Locker thingie at our apartment complex, though...so usually even if a signature is required they put it in the locker and our "signature" is when we use the code to retrieve it
I know I had to when they delivered the Pixel 3, but I remember something about these delivery companies forgoing the signatures because of the virus.
Delivery for me is Friday or Saturday, but remember I'm in Oklahoma so I'm sure the final 100 miles will be pony express.
Surely, among users in this thread this is nearly unanimous, right? Fingerprint sensor for login > face unlock login via cameras/motion sense aka project Soli.
99% of the time I like fingerprint. But if you have anything at all on your finger or the sensor, it's frustrating.
I'm dreading going to face unlock if they remove fingerprint from the Pixel 5. Rumours indicate they will keep rear fingerprint (which is the best implementation, imo) instead of in-screen ultrasonic or w/e technology facilitates it within the glass. oknole the only time It fails me are if my fingertips are quite wet, but pro tip is to add your other fingers too, so it can work even if one finger/hand is wet.
Ok out of the box I like it. Noticeably more skinny than my Nokia 7.1 (I'm a fan of budget phones). The hole punch camera is awesome. I love not having a notch up top. Just feels way smaller than the Nokia and I'll have to get used to that. Less bulk in the pocket is a good thing though.
i really enjoy how easy it is to copy the data between phones. hopefully i don't break it before my case is delivered Monday.
hmmmm, i backed up my stuff before copying the data, but all of my texts are not up to date. any way to get them?
Eager to know this, too. SMS Backup app is way faster than the old SMSBackup+, but takes up a lot more space and isn't as easy to me. On the other hand, my Backup+ got corrupted somehow, and I couldn't transfer 8mos of texts from my Gmail to the new phone.
Just held a P4a and I really don't feel like I'd be giving up much screen size vs my Pixel 2XL. Impressive.
I just installed SMS Backup on both phones, and backed up the old phone and restored on the new. I don't text a lot so it didn't take no time to do it.
Took the 4a off charge at 6:30 this morning, I'm by no means a power user just general tasks throughout the day. Sitting at 28%.
First post from 4A. Leaps and bounds better than the Galaxy S7 I came from. Old phone is still backing up text messages (80k+). Anyone know if I can delete past a certain date on SMS backup when I import to 4A?
Made the switch to YT Music and it was easy and it's very similar to Google Play Music. But it doesn't have podcasts. What app do y'all for these? TIA.
I used to use PocketCasts which was great but then they tried going to a subscription model. I switched to Podcast Republic and I really enjoy it. It has lots of options so you can get the app to behave exactly how you want.
I haven't used it since covid, but pocketcasts was my thing. They charge a fee to listen to other people's content now?
It was for their Pocket Casts Plus It happened like a year ago. They charged a set fee for a lifetime pass ($9) and then went back on that and went to a monthly subscription. I think you got the desktop player, cross platform syncing, etc.
Sidenote:I used Google Play Music for a few years but just switched over to Spotify. Spotify seems so much better for me. Their stations are better and I have been really liking the daily mixes it puts together.
Google Podcasts. web player https://podcasts.google.com/ app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.podcasts&hl=en_US I believe it's supposed to include your existing interests/subs when you transfer your Google Play Music Account to YouTube Music.
