    DALLAS (KYTX) – According to our CBS affiliate in Dallas KRLD-AM, Johnny Manziel has been indicted by a Dallas County Grand jury on a misdemeanor assault charge.

    Dallas police sent the assault case to the grand jury for review on April 20.

    The former NFL quarterback is accused of hitting ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley several times while driving from an uptown Dallas bar back to her home in Fort Worth. According to police records, she tried to get out of the vehicle to safety, but was stopped by Manziel who dragged her back to the car and hit her.

    Crowley said in court records that Manziel hit her so hard that she temporarily lost hearing in one ear.

    Crowley was granted a protective order after the incident in January. Manziel was also ordered to pay $12,500 in attorney’s fees and cannot possess a firearm until the order expires in Feb. 2018.

    Manziel was cut from the Cleveland Browns in March after two seasons. He was fired from his first agent in February and by his second agent on April 19
