consoles are usually at the mid-power level when launched, then end up low powered by the end of the gen and their margins on those GPU's (in bulk, no less) improves. So they start with more reasonably priced GPU's, take a loss on the consoles at first, make money on software, then make money on consoles in the 2nd half of the gen. What they're talking about here is the high end area with presumably a cost much less than what real world consumers would have to pay that seems like it'd be too much of a loss for them to take at this point in a generation without just calling this a ps5. Who knows. There's about to be a new generation of GPU's released reportedly this summer that will ramp up the power significantly, but they'll start out very expensive. Maybe they cut a deal to make them cheaper for ps4.5. I'm not complaining, I'm just skeptical at this point. I do know they need to do something with the psvr breakout box. Hooking that thing up is a fucking cable nightmare. It needs to be integrated into a version of the ps4, but I don't know if they're going to sell enough psvr's to justify a new box at this point.
yeah, I'm planning on it, too. I also have an Oculus I should be receiving in the next few weeks that may influence the psvr preorder.
Someone I trust is gonna have to buy VR and convince me that it's just too much fun to live without. I really don't care about VR at this point
this is where I'm at right now, at this point I'd rather have an oculus, the sheer number of apps/games that can take advantage of it on PC will be much greater.
I admittedly haven't been paying a ton of attention to the VR movement. What exactly about it looks cool? From a gameplay standpoint I can't imagine what's being developed on the fun side of things. I may be putting to much stock in what a fail kinect was at delivering a quality gaming experience
It's obviously more immersive. I'm not big into the move around in a VR space stuff like the Vive is doing beyond the novelty of it for games. VR games where you're stationary or limited to whatever space you can move around in in the real world will get boring fast. But, VR games where your entire visual field is the game, where your head movement controls the camera and the controller in your hands controls your movement and weapons, is where it's at. I'm all aboard that train. But, it's not just about games. Multimedia experiences in VR have the potential to be groundbreaking. There are already applications allowing you to see some sporting events from a VR perspective. Movies/shows that eventually use VR have amazing potential. This is just the 1st gen, though. Have to start at the ground level before the greatness arrives...but it has to get off the ground to get to the good stuff generations. It's all very expensive right now and probably not worth it for those who don't just have the expendable income to get it for curiosity's sake. All that said, I expect PSVR to be markedly 2nd tier. I think it has more potential as a gaming device just because it has the Playstation name/set up behind it, but it's going to be inferior tech than the Oculus or Vive.
Of course it will be inferior, thats why its 1/2 the price. But it should be great for shooters even if its not as fancy as the occulus.
100% agree looks cool but could also be a huge gimmick if the selection of games isn't top notch at launch.
Just got the show 16 yesterday. I love this game. RTTS is great. Love that you can play a series without load screens now
ive always loved the show but i could never get that good at it. i just wanted to pick up and play ala MVP Baseball. So it wouldnt ever last long for me...jsut a temporary 'excited for baseball' itch. I'll probably Redbox it to check it out one day
3.5 dropped today. we can now appear offline and set notifications for when certain friends go online. two basic features we shouldn't have ever been without. also remote play on pc/mac, so that should be useful at some point
I'm looking to buy a PS4 this weekend mostly because I really want to play The Show. Any good deals out there right now?
Wouldn't really suggest by a gaming system just for 1 game. Surely, there other games that pique your interest.
the summer months are actually going to be pretty decent this year. a lot of good titles. uncharted 4 battleborn doom star ocean i am setsuna homefront no mans sky mirrors edge
I'm interested in Homefront, but that's probably something I'll wait for a sale. No Man's Sky is my next game purchase
New Call of Duty will be called Infinite Warfare. It's made by infinity ward which made all the Modern Warfare games. One of the editions you can buy will include a remastered original Cod 4: Modern Warfare for xbone or ps4. I know it's cool to hate on cod but them remastering cod 4 is pretty cool.
Might actually be the first COD I buy this gen, unless they sell it standalone (they probably won't).
Or, you can skip being terrible at playing the games and be a gm/owner only. I'm putting together a simulation baseball league. Info and discussion are here http://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/tmb-ootp-league-baseball-sim.163419/
probably. i think there is 20 maps total, so if they said alright we'll remaster the rest and it will be a 10$ DLC id be fine. But yea i bet it will be waaaaay more expensive because they can get away with it. I bet they'll also sell it as a stand alone like a month after it comes out with infinite warfare and they'll just laugh at me for spending $60 on their new shitty installment.
To each their own. Blops was ruined on ps3 and every game other than MW and MW2 was run and gun and nothing else MW and MW2 made sniping and other playstyles fun. though the dual wield shotguns and the likes made MW2 worse than MW1. The maps on MW 1 and 2 are also far better than anything since imo.
Long shot here... Nobody has a controller they would be willing to part was with do they? My left analog stick is all jacked up. I'll send you money and the old controller for you to fix if you have those abilities..
