If he could talk a bit more about how Boston is a different, provincial city when he talks about: Brady Westbrook (why is how Russel would be embraced or hated in Boston even a subject) the Olympics this most recent Sox trade Chris Sale... Nope. Didn't find the sketch funny. Rap was solid but Simmons ruined it. Call me a Simmons hater or whether but his butt hurt over deflategate has gotten unbelievably old. There's a reason viewership is down 50% from week 2. Have no idea the point you are trying to make with that last comment

Hard for me to pinpoint exactly what it is, but I read like nothing on there and used to read Grantland a ton. Too many of the articles seem to be cute, meant to be funny joke articles so I end up just assuming they're all like that. Give me actual analysis or longform, or I'm not reading at all.
We won't see a lot of long form stuff there imo. Bill Simmons did not like the fact that Grantland was considered a long form site.
Yeah, I feel the same way. I open articles that seem like stuff I'd want to read and it is a bunch of one offs from like 8 different people trying to be hilarious and amazing in under 200 words. I don't feel like having to sort through bullshit to find an article I'm interested in reading all the way through.
I bet a bunch of you wouldn't like it because it's Bill Simmons on his ESPN time again, but I really like listening to Jim Miller so the Bill Simmons podcast today was the first one I had listened to in a while.
this is me, rarely read an article, Deandre Hopkins article was awesome but I'm biased. was a long form profile like what Grantland did a ton of. still listen to a bunch of pods tho.
I enjoyed this podcast. Miller essentially started interviewing him, and some of the answers were interesting and more thought out than Simmons' normal ESPN talks since the departure. Miller also did a podcast with Deitsch, which I listened to after the one on the Ringer. Deitsch was super awkward and pretty much insulted Miller a few times by calling him biased for going on other podcasts and shows. Miller seemed really confused and kind of pissed off at one point.
The Ringer Baseball pod is so much better now. But that's basically because it's just another version of Effectively Wild. The last one with John Baker and Brian Bannister discussing their roles as analytics liaisons to players, for lack of a better term, was really interesting.
Deitsch was trying to bust Jim Miller's balls in a joking fashion about being a friend of Simmons but is not good at that. It was awkward but don't think Miller was pissed. Thought the Simmons/Miller pod was outstanding. The 35 for 35 proposal was a head scratcher. I think Simmons hates the woman who replaced Skipper.
i liked grantland. i think i've visited the ringer twice. i got the impression that the writers were trying to make simmons laugh more than write good shit.
Haven't listened to it but I understand what you are talking about. Deitsch comes off as someone who thinks he is in with all these media personalities and can joke with them, but in reality it seems he lives on the Internet and is super awkward in trying to be cool with things.
I didn't think it was the Simmons part where Miller was pissed. It was the FS1 part where Deitsch introduced his question by saying Miller is biased towards Cowherd and Horowitz. Maybe Miller was just playing along, but his first response after the question made it seem like he didn't get what was going on.
The Miller podcast is exactly the type of stuff Simmons should be doing all the time. It was very entertaining.
Robert Mays has put out some good stuff the past few weeks but the rest of the site is as average as grits. The podcasts are pretty exceptional though.

Read more on the ringer in the last few weeks and thought it was good. Seems to be hitting its stride. Thought the Chip Kelly take down was well done and enjoyed some of the iPhone coverage and Bryan Curtis on Sean McDonough.
Buddy was dating Noah's chick after he broke up with her about a year back. She left him after 6 months and was instantly back on social media with Jo. Pretty cold blooded but JoNo was a legendary stickman in Chicago and it was really on the DL. Had another hs friend who "dated" him for like a year plus and then a friend of a friend that fucked with Xavier Henry was getting with him too.
I just didn't find it funny at all, and kind of in bad taste to mock a guy who has been battling injuries. also can't help but think the Sixers being a historical rival of the Celtics played a part in it. I guess Simmons doesn't have Hinkie to rail against anymore he needs a new target.
Finally read a Ringer article and it was Chris Brown's --chip Kelly--article. Well done. Starting to get into Simmons show on HBO as well but it's just too short. He had on Joseph Gordon Levitt and frankly, I would've listened to Simmons interview him for an hour.
Just very little content on the site draws me and that which does ends way too quick. Love the NFL pods, the MLB pod is ehhhh hit or miss and LOVE keeping it 1600.
