Highly doubt they would do that. Makes more market sense to build lines that don't use the bud name. Makes unknowing consumers think they are ordering something craft (craft vs crafty debate)
Upright Fantasia (Sour Release) http://beerpulse.com/2013/01/upright-fantasia-sour-ale-returns-this-friday/ GF has already made the move to PDX, I will send her. (and hope she will actually go)! Spoiler Press Release: The second batch of Upright Fantasia has been resting in the brewery cellar since October and will be available in the tasting room January 18th. The beer is a barrel fermented blend of six oak casks (down from 8 barrels in 2012) that used a different variety of peaches than the first vintage, sourced from our friends at Baird Family Orchards. With an otherwise similar recipe employing warm aged hops and multiple yeasts and bacteria, the 2013 Fantasia finished with more saison qualities than 2012, and should prove to be a solid beer to continue cellaring for at least two additional years. A limited amount of draft Fantasia will be on tap the weekend of the release at the tasting room. Like last year bottles are $20 each, cases at $225 (limit one). Only 20 or so cases will go out for distribution through Point Blank in Oregon only. More on Fantasia’s brewing process from The New School About: Upright Brewing specializes in farmhouse inspired beers rooted in France and Belgium but made with local ingredients and a Pacific Northwest twist, while also dabbling in both classic and quirky projects from around the world. The name is a reference to Charles Mingus and his primary instrument. Mingus was a musician whose compositions defy categorization. At Upright the recipes and processes are decidedly unbound, making for a true hybrid style that shares Mingus’ spirit of exercising creativity and craft. Yeah, I can see your point, big beer is getting bent the fuck over so they are trying to do anything they can to maintain/ grow. I still doubt they would mess with their brand equity when they could sooner build a new brand such as shock top. It's fun to watch the industry change so much so fast.
Last year it went on sale for $3.99/6 pack in March in Gainesville to make way for new seasonals. Bought two cases and they were still great through the summer, although not as hoppy as fresh.
AB and any of the big ass breweries could brew good beer if they wanted to. With beers like Pliny the Elder it's not a big secret what is in them, there are great clone recipes of all the highly rated popular beers that homebrewers use. Coors is even doing some small batch sours under the label AC Golden Brewing that are interesting. http://blogs.westword.com/cafesocie...e_three_small-batch_sour_beers_in_bottles.php "All three are sour fruit beers that were aged for ten months in oak barrels and fermented with brettanamyces yeast and souring agents."
Goose Island always had to different lines of beer, their mass produced shitty ones like 312, Honkers, etc and their craft line that was Bourbon County, their sours and Belgians. Nothing has really changed since InBev bought them out
I agree. Doesn't change the relevance of using them as an example (sold but kept same team) Well said. Also fun fact; after they bought goose they took license to all (or most) major area codes as names for beers
Whats the word on this, FL folks? Ghost Stories is the name of the collaboration beer created by the disturbed minds at Cigar City Brewing (Tampa, FL) and B. Nektar Meadery (Ferndale, MI). A lager beer with rich chocolate notes, made with meadowfoam honey (marshmallow flavors), toasted coconut, and Lapsong Souchong (a smoked tea).
Just found out that Greenville and Charleston get Dogfish Head in SC but Columbia doesn't. What is up with that? I thought distribution was done on a statewide basis
I honestly didn't like the 60/120 Minute too good and the Tocaboga was just ok. I'd like to be able to get some of the Humidor series and the specialty stuff they do though And just for my town's beer cred
Alright so guys what are so good companies I can find in any store? I'm trying my best to become a beer cunt.
this was really good dallasdawg, heavy with caramel and vanilla, super good, if there's anything you want me to send you from florida let me know
Bells, Brooklyn, DFH, Harpoon, Rogue, Sierra Nevada, Troegs, and Victory should probably all be readily available in most stores around you
I've had Brooklyn Summer Ale before, fucking fantastic. One of my favorites. I'll definitely be picking up a six pack of something soon. gotta get me some snifters first
last i checked ive seen the 60 min ipa, maybe the 90 min ipa and random others but nothing like the burton baton or palo santo marron, tampa publix must suck
take full advantage of your access to Troegs, especially with nugget nectar being released in the coming days
I had Goose Island Baudoinia for the first time this weekend and it vaulted into my top 10 favorite beers of all time list. Wow it is excellent.
Good way to try all the good shit only distributed to certain regions.....it seems you'll have quite a bit of pull with nugget nectar judging by everyones obsession
I'll be buying a six pack of this beer tomorrow and I may send a some out as part of a care package for a lucky poster or two...
