Met up with Corky Bucek yesterday at the Monkish IPA release. Super good guy. I was about 50 people behind him in line and did not get a wrist band. It was a pretty crazy scene. Showed up a little after 11 for the noon release and the line was insane. Ended up standing in line for probably two hours hoping that there would be extras but Corky worked his magic on some people around him and hooked me up. We went to Smog City after. Really liked all three beers I sampled. This is almost worth two hours standing in line. It was actually pretty cool. First time doing that and everyone around me in line was pretty cool.
Glad I was able to help out and it was good meeting up with you. Definitely happy to help with finding a way to get you everything. We will have to grab beers during football season after everything has calmed down.
Martin House (Fort Worth) Imperial Texan- Double Red Double IPA It's soo good when you can get it fresh. I had horrible luck with the larger 16 oz cans but the batch I grabbed has been perfect. Spoiler
Deep Ellum (Dallas) Neato Bandito Mexican Style Lager I know a lot of people haven't enjoyed it in the past but I kinda like it. Spoiler
It would have been disrespectful to not hit SN down the street. Btw - this SNPA tastes nothing like what I'm used to. It tastes like a beer being mashed in, in a good way.
After years of desire I finally had Alpine Nelson. Very good but I feel I built it up in my head a bit. Didn't blow me away. The white grapey-ness was evident from the NS hops.
I think the current, green flash brewed, version isn't too far off...but it's not the same as it was. And I promise I'm not trying to get all BA hot takey with it. It was my favorite beer when I lived in SD...
hi folks. already drunk. Eagle Rare bourbon accompanied by some Founders Centennial IPA (criminally underrated) that happens to not be 9-10 months old. here's a picture of the groundhog that lives under my storage building:
Hillstead farms popped up in Nebraska. Not sure if we'll see more of it besides farmer wave. Rumor is that the guy who distributes all the best stuff colabbed it. Not sure though. Hope they're here to stay.
MY BAD. I had the simpleton IPA (very simcoe dank), the conceptual admix (a really tasty blonde kinda thing), and the little quibble saison. All were excellent.
Here's the Monastic on the bottling line. It's sold domestically as American Monastic and exported to Sweden as Monastic.
In Asheville, have had lots of awesome beers the last two days. This place is awesome. Also, really drunk.
Asheville is just the best small cities like that are my favorite, getting around super easy, and tons of great food/drink options
Of course you pick a beer they're out of!! Just got some Union Jack / double jack. Jesus. So fucking fresh and delicious.
Firestone Walker for a monster brewery puts out some great staff double jack is my go to that I can still scrounge in random grocery stores/gas stations without trouble
Mikkeller bar SF was a lot better when it wasn't serving so many mikkeller beers. Their service has always been shit, but now there's basically no reason to go.
